As some of you know my 97 Dodge Intrpid has been on it's last leg for quite awhile. Well, tonight I got myself a new ride. A 2005 Nissan Xterra Off Road edition. :D

so basically you can hit a curb and the vehicle will live right? Or... perhaps just crush the other car that wasn't obeying the rules of the road...

Obviously someone that drops a decent amount of money on something will defend it. But I looked at a few different "smaller" SUV's and out of them the Xterra was the best options and quility for the money (this includes even the domesics with the huge insentives). That and who can argue with 265 HP/284 ft lbs of torque?

Alley, I don't want to hear it, 6 months ago you were telling me to buy an Xterra.

Will do. I got a few ideas that I am curious what other people would think. I have been actually think about doing this for years and had a laptop to use back before these mini MB came out. I already have the 10" screen, but I am thinking I might just sell it and pick up an 8" screen as when I bought it these "mobile" screens were not around.

I figure it will be a few months before I actually do it. Kinda a winter project.

Muz, I never said the Xterra was a bad ride, I totally dig it. Ofcourse it took you 6 MONTHS to buy it after I said something too  I just know you secretly have desires to be a lot like daysping :) ..... I even said that first before the post! ;)

I will say this, the new 2005 models are a HUGE improvement over the 2000-2004 series.

Upgraded horsepower, better suspension system, and if I remember correctly, disc brakes all around. Plus, they tucked all the nice soft stuff up and under the frame rails.

Only one deficiency- Muz, find the alternator for me. Tell me if its at the top of the engine or down at the bottom again. (Some genius decided to put it 12" from the ground on the 2000-2004 models. They get silt and mud in them and they died pretty quick. I'm curious if they fixed that.)

Nice buy Muz! I'm in the market for a new car. Thinking the 05 or the RX8. Not sure yet.

Get a good price?

Grats on ditching the POS Intrepid, granted they're like driving a sofa and great for long drives, but they're horribly built.

I have to say that I've been disapointed with Nissan as of late, it seems they've gotten the American stigma of "bigger is better" and left the heart of the Japanese auto-market, the inline 4.

Anyway, I really hope you enjoy your XTerra, they're pretty nice looking SUV's from what I've seen. My friend's neighbor traded in his Ford F350 for one and immediately complained about the suspension being too stiff. I find that hard to believe but w/e.

And Dayspring, forget the Mazda and go for a Lotus Elise... unless you're against the whole "European car" thing..... In which case go ahead with the Mazda, the rotary engine will give you style points anyway :D

Nope, they didn't move it, or atleast it's still on the bottom left of the engine.
