First off, I need to thank everyone for coming out and shooting each other up for a good cause. It always good to have fun and help someone out... not to mention hanging out with the usual crew and some new friends. I am a wee bit tired after this long arsed day, so I will finish the spiel later... ;)

For now, on with the pics!

I don't know what kind of paint it was, I forget, but it was like rocks. I have quite a few welts and I'm sure there are more. I know oldsoldier has a prize-winner on his side. It bounced all day.

I don't know if XO is making their own paint or sourcing it out but that was the crappiest paint i have seen in 21 years. I couldn't crush it with my fingers and it survived me stomping on it. On the bright side, I didn't chop once.

Good to connect some faces to online names. Too bad more people didn't show up specially some of the Toronto members.

All in all a good time for this first timer.

What's up with the raccoon?

Muzikman
09-26-2005, 08:50 AM
Well, I had a great time, even though it was in Canada. The drinking was not as heavy as most other AO events. I think that had to do with the bars beer selection and the fact that people had to drive. It was great seeing the old faces again and a pleasure meeting the new ones. I should have muc pictures up after work today.

Oh, and the racoon was a pet. It was quite an interesting animal, especially when it climbed up on the chrono while people were there.

I was up till 2am that night AND I was the first at the field the next day. What excuse did you guys have? :p

After arriving home at 2am last night I am seriously tired today.

Had a great time though.

As far ar the paint goes, wasn't it just half-cured reballs? :bounce:

At the end of the scenario game I was calling my self out on whether they broke or not. After 10 or so bounces and the accompanying pain, I figure I'd had enough. :argh:

I should point out the racoon, although cute and fuzzy, isn't my pet it's the field's. I was just the one that brave/dumb enough to pick it up to get it off the playing field so that it didn't get hurt.

Over all the weekend was a lot of fun and I was pleased to see some people I knew before and meet some new people. For me the biggest highlite of my weekend was getting to shoot Creative Mayhem on Sunday, even if I get lit-up shortly there after. I'm still hoping that more people that took photos will be posting them soon as I know that there were a lot of cameras there and a lot of good photo opts.

Many thanks to Jeffy-CanCon for feeding me Coffee on the drive home last night. It made it a lot easier to stay awake.

For me the drive home wasn't bad beyond trying to stay awake. The drive up was trouble some due to some an accident or two and some construction in Toronto. Not to mention the confusing intersection and corkscrew road sign on the way Mayhem's place. All in all the drive was alot shorter and easier than I expected.

Deb and I had a great time this weekend, the only two complaints were the hotel restaurant service and the XO paint.
You know you've got thick shelled paint when you can do this with it.

Saturday's airball games were were definatly the most fun, I think that was my best time shooting pump before changing over to the Slugg in the afternoon. Deb and I are going to try and make it to more AO days next year as the funds allow, we'll try to drag Pjammaman along even if we have to kidnap him from his wife. ;)

I'm pretty certain that the question mark sign indicates an information centre where you can ask questions like how to get to point A from here or where is this wine festival etc...

Haha, thanks for the offer. Maybe next time, hopefully soon (hint, hint...)

Sense I am kinda young, I don't have to pay rent/bills or any other expenses, how long would you say it takes to save up (or pay off...) an AO day?

Money wise, it depends entirely on your income. ;)

Placating the wife before to allow you to go, and afterwards when the bills come in, is another story altogether. :p

Muzikman
09-27-2005, 08:21 AM
Distance traveled, type of travel, your food intake and your alcohol intake are the most expensive parts of an AO meet. The cost of paint and field fees are usually very small. So, it all depends. I have spent upwards of $1500+ to go to some events such as Shatnerball.

Later. Midnight-ish, Josh's Dad walked in with two South Asian chicks from Toronto, and dropped them at the bar. He disappeared, and I started to chat with them. They were in town for the wine festival, and complained about the lack of music at the bar. We got some music, and when they got hungry, Temo agreed to drive to the nearest Mickey D's for fries.

Good chat, no love.

Maybe just having a good time?

Something for everyone to remember...
the bartender/barmaid sets the stage for the quality of the girls in the bar..
If it is an icky old hag in a dress from 1979 then the females will be less than desirable..

this is one more reason why you should always frequent the bar where the bartenders are nice on the eyes.

Just out of curiousity, what were you guys looking for. If I had known, would have taken you to a little bar in Toronto that has over 70 different kinds of beer from all over the world.

I have arrived safely back in the United State of Massachusetts. That is one long arse drive! The van drives like buttah now though. Got the cruise control to work too! Turns out that the 4th gear was completely round, as in NO TEETH! I guess this was the culmination of an ongoing, but unseen problem. All is well though... :headbang:

they grind away by rubbing against something. not unusual with someone who doesn't know how to drive standard but I think his is automatic so I don't know how that would have happend. maybe lack of fluid or somthing like that.

A while back the van's main computer had a problem talking to the transmission's computer. It would not switch gears at the proper revs. I am sure that it put quite a bit of wear on the gears before it was fixed. Of course its hard to tell if there was any internal damage to the tranny without dropping it, which is quite costly. Fix the problems as they manifest themselves I guess. And yes, it is an automatic.

Not to mention, the Voyager line from Plymouth had notorious tranny problems (which we later found out).

See, Toronto would have been a bit far to drive back to the hotel after a night of drinking. I was looking for something DARK! They had a Guinness tap there, but no Guinness! For the most part I don't drink your typical domestics. I drink the German, Belgium, Irish, or English. The only domestics I like are, some Sam Adams, Yuengling and I will drink Iron City beer since it's local. I like Macro/Micro breweries too, but I don't count them as domestic beers.

I'm with Muz on this, I drink mostly English and Irish Pub beers, but I'll drink Domestic if I have no other choice.

We were sitting outside, and they came out of their hotel room. i thought they were tanked.

Maybe just having a good time?

-- Anyhow, after they left, my dad walked to the lobby for towels, and they were there looking for the bar, he took them there, so i guess that led to that.

Were they drunk when he brough them to you?
- Should i thank him on your behalf?

-- Josh

I don't think they were drunk, though they had been at the wineries all day. At the bar they sipped on a single glass of white for an hour or more.

I had fun, so Yes, tell him Thanks.

Sounds like sage advice!

Okay, to finish my first post now that we have exponged all the american infestations *looks at Dan* ;)

You guys helped raise $300 for my deceased friend's son. I was also asked to give you a big hug, and thanks from his family. I am always suprised by the outpouring from AO and its members, and am overjoyed to be part of such a wonderful group of people. Thanks again guys.

I am waiting to hear from Tuna about the prizes, and when i get them, I will draw names for the prizes and then mail em out.

So as far as personal thanks go, I have said it before and basically to everyone at AO Canada, but I will once again say thanks to Jeffy CanCon, Slartybartfast, TemoVryce, MAggot6, GordDesigns, Raven001, Kevdupuis, and Deb, smilestyler and wife(sorry forgot the name ATM;)) the amercans... I am probably one of the closest if not the closest member to the field.
Oh someone mentioned the Raccoon, it was an orphan found in the shed at the rec field.
Although back in May I was in the boat with three babies in the front hatch.

Thanks you for having this fine event. :bounce:
Jeremy you did one hell of a job. :hail: ( we will forget the bar , with time )
To all those who attended, thank you for just being there.
And next time all the other Canadian AO'ers will try to attend.

Maybe next year we can do a spring and fall event.

To all those new friends I knew only by a name on a forum, "it was an incredible experiance".
You are all exceptional individuals and great sportsman. To new friends.

It was fun Jeremy but I missed my Newcastle, although I would have settled for a Grasshopper. ;)
You know Deb (Shdow) and I will be there for the next one.
It was also great to see everyone, old friends and new.
