Do it... http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/

This has been around for quite a while, but I don't think it's ever been posted on AO. It's this web site that takes any image you want, and blows it up all huge. Then you print it out and you have a big awesome poster.

It's a pretty good site, you can crop however you want and decide exactly how big you want, plus it's simple and friendly and stuff too.

My 36 pages of Christopher Walken are terrifyingly awesome.

Make some rasterbations of your own, let's see 'em!

I've done that before, but just used microsoft publisher.

I've done a couple paintball posters, if you get really good and have patience you can cut them out and line it up right and make it almost seamless. Just use the color laser printers on campus :)

Eh I just tried it out and I wasn't impressed. The dots are too big and you really have to stand far away or it looks like mush.

EDIT: Nevermind, if you download the program, you can do the image using much smaller dots, and much better image quality.

Yeah, download the stand-alone and you can push the dots down to 1mm...
I'm printing this in color, with 1mm dots.. 10 pages landscape across for my wall in my room.. it's like 65 sheets!

I thought you could do that with print options in all sorts of programs?

Very neat though.

The thing with this program is you don't need a high res image to make a large format print.

That poster I made is a 200kb jpeg. You couldn't just blow up a photograph like that normally and print it, it would look horrible. The way this program works allows you to print out small files in large format without it looks like crap.

I really wanna try and do that to my door but i think it would be crazy hard, and i dont have acess to any color printers here, that i know of. IU only lets students use the black and white without being charged extra i think.

I think i might run out of black ink with the Dark Side picture... there is TONS of black.... im deciding wether to do it or not, cause 60 pages takes one LONG time to print

Will go on one wall (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v730/rather34/sold043.jpg)
And one for the other wall (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v730/rather34/sold044.jpg)

Threadless rules, but a sloppy execution. You need to work on straightening those out.

I don't know what that picture's of, but I agree. Don't be afraid to spend some time putting up the pages. I spent a good hour or two of just taping and sticking, and I'm still not totally happy with some of the corners.

It's worth it in the long run to make it look perfect!

e: And I left the margins on the pages on purpose. I really liked the effect of the slight spacing between pages, plus it made it easier to make sure everything was lined up just right, because I knew I wasn't screwing up any dimensions with my trimming.

Bob you did a pretty good job sticking that on your wall... what did you use? just plain tape? and how big did you put you're dots?

I just put little loops of scotch tape on the back of each page, then stuck the page on the wall. The dot size was the default, whatever that is, I don't remember. But on the next one I do, I'll make the DPI greater (smaller dot size). Like Thor said, it looks kind of junky up close, but from the other end of the room, I love it.
