No expense was spared to outfit the aircraft with all of the best paintball and helicopter equipment available.

The paintball gun is a Spyder Imagine with a 200 round gravity fed hopper.

:rolleyes:

Glad to know I'm not the only one that made that connection.

You could build your own for around 2 probably...

lord knows ive thought about outfitting one of my r/c planes with a gun....if only i had the time...

i want one... :bounce:

best helicopter equipment...yes..
.as for paintball equipment....uhhh....this dude needs to stick to helicopters...

let alone 250 for shipping.

with camera and shipping is 6250 dollars. thats way too much.

seriously I'd love to try one...but I would never use it on a regular basis. You have to use it a lot to make that 6000$+ expense worth it.

i like it, but the price....yeah hes out of his mind, and id swap the spyder out for something that ramps, lol, and a halo? mjaybe dual q loaders!! dual halo fed warpfeeds? with an x mag? yeahy now were talkin, helidopters kewl, but not worth that much, id like to see how they handle takin hits at 290 fps, thats a test

There's only such much weight something airborne can handle, and Im sure any of your pipe dreams exceed that limit.

I bet I could build one that took a Ruger 10/22.

That'd be hot.

I think using a spyder is the best choice...If it did crash, I'd much rather a POS gun ruined than something like said above, an xmag...

I wonder how an xmag would hold up after being droped from 30-40 feet? hmmm

Why not just fly at 100 feet+ and not worry about paintball impact - even if they hit how much energy can they carry? Where you have gravity on your side...

Seems like a lot of effort for 200 or so iffy shots.

Yeah...but you have to take into account the official cool factor....

and this may be one of the coolest things ive ever seen...granted i am into r/c a bit...

I'm possitive you could shoot it down if it was flying low enough to be at all effective.

id make like a mini b52 and attach like 10 pods to it and get enough altitude, adjust for wind, and make the pods open raining paintballs everywhere. Id have to make it a rule that once you leave your car, your mask goes on.

I nearly snarfed my cheesesteak through my nose when I read your reply

If you think about it though... spyder electro = lightweight and doesn't need much maintenance

Oh, I just thought of something else...

Has anyone thought of the safety hazard of something like this? Those helo blades sound extremely dangerous. People have been killed by them before. Somehow I think one of these running around a paintball field is not a good idea. I certainly wouldn't let anyone play with one around me.

And what happens if you shoot the chopper and it goes out of control?

Now that would be a fun idea. Have some sort of sliding door and no lids on the pods. They'd open one by one in a huge path of paint! :D

Of course that doesn't get past the "crashing on the field and killing someone" problem. :(

(dont blame me if im doing it wrong, trying it out of memory)

300 fps
100 feet:

vf^2=Vi^2+2ad

Vf^2=91.44 ^2 + 2 (9.81) (30.48)

Vf^2= 8361.2736 + 598.0176

Vf^2= 8959.2912

Vf~ 94.7 mps

Vf~ 310 fps

so not a huge difference at 100 feet

as far as the b52: (to get 250 fps)

5806.44= 2(9.81)d

d= 296 meters
d= 971 feet

So, you need to fly at 971 feet to get the paintballs to hit at 250fps

I think the paintball would slow down instead of speed up to a terminal vel. due to the air and wind.

Get really fragile paint and it'll break at 10fps (one drop). :D

correct me if im wrong, but terminal velocity would be constant, and would not "slow down"

i understand the air friction, but how would that "slow down" with terminal velocity

not that i think from 100 feet it would have reached terminal velocity

and yes, get buckets of zap, buckets and buckets of zap

TheTramp

That's sort ofwhat I ment. I think the 300fps (starting speed) is faster than the terminal vel. of a paintball in the air. That means that it would be slowing down till it reached that then stay there. Of course, like you, I think it would hit before that speed was reached.

What happens if your shoot it a couple of times mid air? I predict one of these showing up at skirmish this year.

i know my local field that has a real chopper fly around will immediately eject you and threaten to bring you to court if you shoot at it

I bet that doesn't stop everyone. I know some of the big games I've seen that had a real chopper, it always had at least a couple of breaks on it when it landed.
