Project SFL

http://www.jayloo.com/files/pics/32000/Project_SFL.jpg

History:
I’ve been with AO long before we got the “fancy” messageboard, my old SN was Bunny but forgot the password..Heh. I’ve been a die hard AGD fan for many years now. I got my chance to buy my dream gun less than a year ago.
Purchased for $850 I received it in a Timberland Box with newspaper wrapped around it. (shocking, I know) It has been my work horse ever since. I recently sold my X-mag and now have some extra $$$.

I’m turning to AO for advice for my project SFL.

My thoughts:

Gun:
Silver Base Shocktech Emag
J&J Edge kit (2) fronts (4) backs
Standard EM01567 Emag Valve
Tunablade Trigger
Unimount

Anodizing:
Anything and everything will be looked at. I really want something different. Maybe tattoos or something crazy.

Laser Engraving:
Will laser engrave the shocktech logos back onto my gun after the anodizing. I’m trying to think of an idea for the E and M modes that are engraved on the gun.

Milling:
Clamping tube; Dual detents(just because) Trigger frame Milling. *(prototype slots on gripframe)* Custom Battery Pack?

http://www.jayloo.com/files/pics/32000/SFL_Gripframe_milling.jpg
The parts i'm milling are translucent.

Board/Electronics:
I preordered a Predator Board from TAG which should be here in a couple months. Have ACE already installed.

I’m looking for any other ideas that might go well with the design of the gun. Thanks for your time guys.

When you get the predator, ditch the reflectives and get breakbeams. Other than that and getting a CnC/Tuna/PTP Micro battery pack or having the stock pack milled, you've got an awesome plan. Can't wait to see all that done!

Adding a PTP pack can totaly transform the look of any E-Mag. It was the best "cosmetic" purchase I ever made.

You could go with one of the other milled packs but I think the lines of the PTP pack would suit the "straight" milling of your SFL.

KillingSpree: Just updated that thread. I didn't have too much time to work on the PS but hope you get the idea. I really like the digital camo that FBM does :)

warbeak2099: Not sure, but would I have to get outside milling for the breakbeams?

SCpoloRicker: Thanks :D

TheTramp: I was thinking about one, I looked on the green SFL and the PTP battery looks really good on it.

I think it would look good with the battery back milled with the bulls eye and a purple to orange anno. It might sound weird but think about it. It would look sick awesome.

is this the same sfl as the one on z-man's site? well anyway, my idea for your gun is called eclipse sfl. Its an all black gun with white rings in the center expanding through the body making it look like a solar eclipse.
http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze2vrva/eclipse/hires/img010.jpg
like that on your gun.

Get it annodized seafoam green. I don't know why I've just always liked seafoam guns.

I cant see in the pics but is the "SFL" part on the breech red or look like it had red paint in there at some point or time? I "customized" my SFL before I sold it.

Enjoy a fine piece of history~~~

nato: Yep, behind the black was the red outline. Just cleaned it out and it's ready for anodizing once I get all the parts back from milling and such.

Thanks for all your comments guys keep em coming!! :D

How about "stun" and "kill?"

As for the E/M mode markings, I'd probably go with some sort of ornate script letter. Just me though.

Haha, its funny seeing that again. I could have sworn I knew the scratches on the battery pack. I took it off the hands of a child who had no idea how to take care of such a fine piece of firepower. Hope you enjoy it!

im actually hoping to start working on my sfl soon. i already have some things done, like fireblade trigger, clamping feedneck, micro emag batt pack, custom frymark grips. im hoping to have some minor custom milling done, and then ano. im looking at platinum(white) ano with blue accents. for some reason i dont have any new pics of just the gun yet, old pics of mine are on Zman's site. (www.zakvetter.com)

good luck with what ever you do to it. <3 for another SFL owner

*thanks Xmagworld.com for the picture

paint magnet: Heh. Didn't Shatner have that done on his XMag?

Hairball: Good idea, i'm still trying to find the right text for the E and M. I will have some examples to choose from soon.

nato: Whoever had it went CRAZY with it  I might have to get a thick anodizing put on it to cover up some of the scratches.

White_Noise: You have the infamous Load SFL  sweet. The platinum with blue accents sounds amazing. I was checking absolutefinish.com and they do some amazing work.

As far as anodizing goes maybe condsider black with silver sponge and red & yellow/gold splash... traditional Shocktech colors. Look at every logo they had with the double ellipse...

As far as the little M & E logos... what about a picture of the Mag sear for Mech, and a 9 volt battery for E-mode.

Shatner did have the stun and kill on his XMag.
THIS is the sweetest anno I have ever seen! This gun I found used on pbwarehouse.net, it's still there.

WARPED1: I'm thinking of something 1 of a kind like that. I'm still thinking of using Fireball Mountain(they made the riddler intimidator) but they had a couple of guns come out really poor. Still hot tho :D

phantomhitman: "Mitchega" is his/her pbnation name. Max anodizing screwed up on there gun and absolutefinish helped them out.

1st on the battery pack i would like to say this. My 1st pick would be the ptp. the milling on that matches the sfl very nicely. after that i would go for the cnc. this just has more of a traditional feel to a nice e-mag. i would personally throw out the idea of i tuna pack. nothing against them, they can look really hott on some e-mags, but i dont think it would fit the look of the sfl at all.

very nice mag btw

danoxide: I might shave down the dover slide mounts on the battery. Or I might purchase the PTP. The CnC battery pack doesn't flow with the body of the SFL. I have pictures of the pack on my SFL for reference. Too bad I sold my Xmag tho :(

UPDATE:

Im still contemplating what I should do with my marker..... Here are my ideas....

Front End milled down
Trigger Guard milling(front and rear)
Trigger frame bumps
Dovetail style gripframe
Custom Trigger

Here is a rough sketch of my idea.
http://www.jayloo.com/files/pics/37000/custom_sfl.jpg

I think RRfireblade customs will do the work for me. Just want to see everyones opionions...

Looks pretty sick. I really like that trigger.

Did you actually draw that? It looks to be very artistical and extremely time consuming.

If you go with Jay, get a clamping feedneck mod done to the breach.
Otherwise for milling you could use Coolhand (Logic Paintball) or Gecko (Destructive Customs/DC), as they are very good and know mags as well. Just remember, custom = time + money.

I like everything except where you cut the front end down. That will give the gun what a 1/4" gap between the barrel and the battery pack? Maybe its just me, but I think tha would look better like it is. As for anno, I still love how it looks raw so I wouldnt be much help there.

i like your ideas, a ccm mod is a must, i like the idea of havin the front milled down, i love the way that would look, thats one reason i like my xmag so much, but i think you should come up with something for the battery pack, maybe use a ptp min emag pack, they seem to match the sfl's line pretty good, yu could prolly have jay do the milling to your stock pack, im liking your custom trigger,

man im jealous

now i want an sfl

someone sell me one

i know im a gun whore

I'm buying an SFL. Saving and making payments on it right now. The rain here is killing me! Working landscaping and excavation I don't need anymore rain. I have a few idea for it, but since I don't yet have it in my hand I don't know if any of them will work. I like to keep it under wrap atleast till I know what I'm talking about. ;) Good luck with yours Bunny.

great design you got going there. My opinion is to not chop the area beneath the barrel, the gripframe looks awesome.

Thanks for the reply guys!!!

buzzboy: Actually i stole the idea from Technatrigger.com he made a custom 1 of 3 trigger and thats what it looked like. Can't think of the name off the top of my head.

MicroMiniMe: Just got my breech back from Jay with the CCM clamping feedtube. Looks great. Pictures should be up soon :D

Arstron: http://www.xmagworld.com/zman.htm That is an SFL with the milling I was talking about. I don' think it actually looks to bad :D

rudz: Battery pack is up in the air right now. I'm either going to have a really nice ano on the gun and would like the open space to show it off, or i'm going to have a PTP battery pack milled a little bit :D

REDRT: Heh, thanks man. Goodluck with yours!! Just wondering, where/who are you buying it from? (Still trying to track down all the SFLs)

FooTemps: Still contemplating the underneath getting shaved down. Like I told Arstron look at the link and tell me your thoughts :)

Anymore ideas guys?????

Well, I noticed your mods were pretty zman-esque already so I figured having something different would be good too. I personally like the front of the sfl body.

I'd suggest milling the battery pack actually. Maybe something like your gripframe or like the micro emag.

i have a question, with the front milled down like that, are you keeping the rail that the battery pack slides onto? just wondering if it would make it less sturdy or anything.

personally, i would mill the sides of the triggerguard a little. round out the edges a little so it feels nicer on the fingers. mebe even carve a bit out of the sides to give a little 3d milling.

also, have you considered milling the battery pack to match the grip frame? put those exact same grooves in the front (mebe the back too) of the pack.

I would think an Xvalve would be one of the first things I'd do to it.
