View Full Version : Wondering about my regulator

I have a Centerflag 420 (non-adjustable) reg. with a 68ci 4500psi tank. I am thinking of getting an vision Impulse (partially because they're on sale at the store near me) and was wondering if I could use this setup or would I have to get another (low pressure) reg and tank. The reason I was wondering was that I use the Centerflag reg and tank for my RT and I know that automags run on high pressure and Impulses run on low pressure.

Thanks and I appreciate the help

You can use the HP tank, it'll actually be better in those long strings of paint. The pressure of the tank is fed into the regulator, which regulates the input down to what you have the reg set up to feed your gun to make it work.

Yea, just set the vertical max-flo to whatever the gun needs to operate. I think it's around 250psi.

Are you sure that will work? If I remember correctly the reg is preset (non-adjustable) at 800 or 850 psi (can the vertical max-flo will change the psi by that much)?

Yea no, the max-flo is adjustable. I'm talking about your secondary regulator, the vertical "on gun" one. The tank regulator is preset.

The tank is ~850, thats the PSI going into the gun. Then the regulator lowers it to the 200-250 you need for gun to operate.
Tank@850-------->Inline at 850------------.regulated to 200-250 to gun. Get it my friend? :)

1. Be sure the Impulse *has* a maxflo (or some sort of inline regulator). I know some MaxFlo's came with a gas through grip since they were supposed to be sold with the MaxFlo tank (which could work as a tank regulator and an inline). I highly doubt it would be sold without one... but you never know.

2. I believe Impulse's are supposed to be run around 125-200psi

So a vertical max-flo is about the same thing as the inline max-flo (they can both be adjustable from 0-1200 psi or whatever?) and not like a regualar regulator?

P.S.- Sorry if I sound like a newbie, I just don't know a lot Impulses and max-flo.
