how is the accuracy with the minimag at far distances ,with a good custom barrel, compared to other top of the line guns?(honestly)

same as any other marker shooting at the same velocity with proper bore sizing...

With a good aftermarket barrel, you will see no difference in the 'Mag and any other 'gun out there.

I believe that part of the reason that 'Mags got the bad rap for inaccuracy is the stock barrel. As I understand it, the stock barrels are large bore by today's standards. If I remember right, I recall the Minimag 8" barrel is .695. Paint has shrunk by standards of the early and mid 1990's and with smaller bore paint in a larger bore barrel, you will notice less effective distance (meaning less accuracy at range).

The above is part of the reason. The other, of course, is the WGP-hype machine that still churns today! :)

You don't even need an expensive barrel. I use an older Dye Excel barrel, 10" or 12", and its way more accurate than most guns I run against. That includes cockers, ions, as well as tippmans (even the flatline), spyders (including the millions of knock offs.) My friends get pissed because I can hit them on the first shot usually; unlike them who have to walk the paint onto me. Its pretty funny.

My Minimag shoots dead on every time, no exaggeration. I tend to sneak up one side of my usual woods field, and I use my Minimag to drop paint right on the people against the far side tape. Once I get an angle on someone, I don't even bother to shoot more than once. I highly recommend a short J&J ceramic barrrel, by the way.

J&J makes the one-piece ceramic in a 10" version that has become my barrel of choice for my A5. Looking for one for my Mag as well.

Aye, they rock. I've got a 12" one... actually looking for an 8" to replace it, my Minimag's become my project marker and I want to get a shorter barrel to bring back that "machine pistol feel" but I don't want to sacrifice the awesomeness of the ceramic barrels.

Anyone know if they make 8" J&J ceramics?

Nah, it needs _some_ porting. Ah well, I'll keep my eyes open for a 10" twist lock.

Accuracy is directly related to shot to shot fps consistancy(honestly). Because the automag/minimag/magmag is very consistant it will be very accurate as well. Use good, non-dimpled paint and your fps will be more consistant over the chrono.

But if you have been cursed by the evil accuracy goblins, then there is little you can do other than babtize your mag in fire and chant the ancient ritual(dishonestly).
