I havnt had a classic RT rail in my hands in over a year and I cant rember how wide it is. Is it the same size as the newer style RT rails? The reason I am asking, ive seen alot of zgrips on classic RT's, did they just grind the wings off of the zgrip? I am planning out how I want to make my zgriped mag, and trying to decide on what style mag I want to put it on. I know its going to have a warpfeed and endo cradle and a powerfeed body, but thats as far as ive gotten. :(

wait...... Z grips have wings??
well on mine it doesnt exactly fit "correctly" on my RTP rail
theres a downturn half way into it and i stuffed washers in there to make it stable
but it should fit as they were made to be multi-compatible

Well mine has wings on the back half of it, it fits a classic rail perfectly. I am pretty sure its one from the attic sale awhile back with no engraving.

My z grip fits an RT classic rail, so I know AGD made them. :)

Z grips were made to fit both classic RTs and newer models. All of the ones I've seen on RTs had the RT logo though. I'm not sure if any were made with wings, but if you have a frame with wings (for the AM/MM rail), it's not hard at all to mill them off to fit a wingless rail.

The only thing you have to do with a mag frame (any mag frame) to fit a classic RT is to drill the rear field strip hole so the banjo bolt fits. It has to be the right size and needs to be straight, so you might want to let someone who know what they are doing do it (don't just take a dremel to it).

Once it's drilled it can still fit on a normal mag, you just need a spacer that fits in so the field strip screw fits like it should.

Here is pictures of my zgrip showing the wings on it. The front half of the trigger has no wings, only the back half where the frame gets thicker has these wings. I couldnt get a good picture from the front showing that it didnt have wings but the back did sorry.

Here is a picture of it on a classic rail, the wings are made for a classic rail.

btw, for those that have used zgrips, what kind of foregrip angle did you prefer? a regular 90* or a 15*?

Those wings are so it would fit the old classic rails. The Z-Grip made for the old RT was flat and had a larger field strip hole to allow room for the banjo bolt. All you had to do to make the RT Z-Grip fit anything else was to get the spacer that takes the banjo hole down to standard field strip screw size (like mine  ).

Yet as you can see in the picture, mine does...

Are z-grips with wings to fit a classic rail really that rare?
