Well, there was a lot of interest in my for sale thread, HERE (http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=186855) , about the pictures I posted.

I didn't have the originals of those pictures, so I am posting some new ones in high resolution. The monitor I am using at the moment isn't very bright, so I can't tell if they came out very well. What do you think?

I thought people might enjoy this in general paintball talk... By the way, anyone want to buy an xmag? ;)

hehe... already there ;)
To bad some of em was out of focus. Im lil suprised that you needed such long shutter speed with softbox lighting, but the Sigmalens isnt the best. I have one myself and Im not very happy with it. Did you use a tripod?

Anyway, there is one thing I would like to see. Since you have a CnC version 1 body, can you take a pic of the breech from the front?

There may have been one or two that the focus was a little soft. But ofcourse the depth of field was intentional on several of the photos.

The long shutter speed was due to a few things. First of all I stopped it down to f13 as to widen the depth of field a little bit. The second is the polarizing filter, which subtracts about 2 stops of light.

As for the sigma lens, imho it is the very best lens for the price. The APO version anyway. It isn't the fastest lens out there, but having it stopped down to 13 would eliminate that problem anyway.

And yes, I definetely used a tripod.

Those last couple were the same except that I rotated the polarizing filter to give it a few different reflecting effects.

I'm not sure what you mean by color space. The white balance was set to auto, I guess because I am lazy, and then adjusted in raw.

I might try a few more things and post them up here in a bit.

on my nikon D70 I generally shoot in adobe rgb II, only because I want to save space on my mem card and I don't want 2 color interpretaions per say when I edit it in PS-CS. If you shot it in Raw then there is no color space, just real colors. Great pictures! would like to see more.

Did you mean something like THIS (http://www.missouri.edu/~bkfvd3/Xmag/breech%201.jpg)

or THIS (http://www.missouri.edu/~bkfvd3/Xmag/breech%203.jpg)

Also, I took a few more shots using the smallest aperature as to get most of the gun in focus.

For the background I just bought some heavy white clothe from walmart and hung it over a bar. All you have to do is get the right exposure.
