Ok, gather round AO kiddies, it's STORY TIME
About 7 months ago, by chance of trading and luck, I stumbled upon a sole Hyperframe, no internals, and the only thing that came with it were the crappy panels, and the trigger. About the same time, again by pure chance, I traded with Sk8ermog for a 13 bps board and cash for a halo of mine. The frame was complete trash, and I had no idea how excrutiating the pain was going to be to put this completely together.
http://img496.imageshack.us/img496/9572/01807a6wq.th.jpg (http://img496.imageshack.us/my.php?image=01807a6wq.jpg)
So then, after checking around, I contacted my "personal tech" as I refer to him (did custom eye work on my impulse) about getting plugs, wired up for a battery harness and a plug for the noid. Sent it off, got it back, and all the more enthused about getting my automag up and running.
Soon after that, my hyperframe made a nice little trip to Luke, to get fitted with an ubernice trigger, panels, and a microswitch. My hyperframe was still lacking a noid, and my Hypermag was still lacking guidance. As it stood, it was a classic valve, ans phase 2 bolt, supashort luke milled rail, blue ule body with front homecut(previous owner)exile style, and it was in bad shape. Really wish I had a pic of it then. It had gotten so bad looking, and so hopeless, that I had almost given up on whole thing, and was considering parting out the project and saving some face. In a sheer miraculous idea of curiousity, I decided to measure my eblade noid and thought about a transplant. I, and in no way did I plan this, got on, and looked for a replacement noid, and when I was supposed to type in automags, I stopped at "a" and saw air-powered.com sitting in my bar. Long story abruptly ended, I found a noid for 25 dollars, which came with a cocker sear. I then sent it back to luke, for a final checkup, soldering, and some nice yellow/black plasti-panels.
Magnum saved my whole project. I thought for sure that I'd either have to pay a LOT of money for freaking 3 parts annoed :cuss: and his thread came to mind. I knew that basement anno ppl couldnt do ULE's but I thought at $10/piece, the worst that could happen is its not blue anymore. And OH MY GOODNESS, my parts came back glistening and looking like new life was breathed into my Hypermag dreams.
I got a great deal on an Xvalve, for my Classic +80; I got my 15* asa from Rogue(said something about blemished, but it looks perfect).
And that brings us up to speed on NOW: Ule is splotchy, but its growing on me. The frame and drop are "camo" annoed(spotted on purpose). The rail will be changed to a black thrasher rail, there is 15* asa, some kind of foregrip, and it will be tuned to perfection

its beautiful!!!!! the anno on the ULE looks fine, everything else looks splotchy........ and that gap between the valve and body looks HUGE

Wow, that does look splotchy. I'd definitely have it reannod if you have the cash. The gun is sweet though. A Predator Morlock with bb eyes would complete that baby. I'd keep the classic rail too, just for the lightweight.

i think the silver splotchy part on the yellow body looks nice

That looks great, I like that yellow/gold and black on a mag. I never thought id say that. That xvalve sure does look good on their also. ;)

why is there such a large gap between the body and valve?

about the ano-- yes get that re-done. Yellow is not easy to nail, but the splotches are not accepable if you ask me. :-/

otherise-- cooooll :)

01-18-2006, 12:07 AM
yeah, forgot to mention that. The hyperframe and drop are dotted on purpose, and the ule, well, i'm growing to like it right now

Shadow rail was a thought, but the thrasher looks so mean

Looks good all put together, are u addin a forgrip?, I didnt think the anno looked bad in person, but i dont really like the frame/drop, but thats my preferance. Still whatever the color im sure it will be an amazing shooter

Nice gun man.

I feel stupid.. I picked up a Hyper frame with the new board that had a broken solenoid for 20$ and returned it. I did not realize how rare they were.

mobsterboy
01-18-2006, 04:28 PM
called you TAF
UTDragon, nope, no pred yet. I will get eyes for it, but pred might be a little reaching, being that its only 13 right now, 15 is cfoa max and if a halo cant keep up with my board, no reason to have the board

dig the anno man

LMK if you want other parts done to match.

How are you liking the CP Feedneck?
I've never used one, they looked too cumbersome for my tastes.
What did you think of it?

mobsterboy
02-11-2006, 08:06 PM
its got an interchangable insert, so thats nice. I like the way it hugs a halo nicely with the proper halo insert. I might get something else, simply b/c it can go as low as it wants too. Might use the feedneck on my angel tho. All in all, for getting it from Sk8ermog, its a nice feedneck. HyperTyrant is going to Tuna THIS WEEK!!! Pics will be up of its newly transformed self as soon as TUNA decides he would like to ship it back

How does the insert work?
Hug the feed area of the Halo?

almost exactly like a twistlock barrel, only with 3 metal balls instead of a twistlock pin. Simply push, twist, let go, and its locked in place.

Ahh, gotcha.
Hope you get your mag back soon!

She's looking good. It always amazes me how faithful and dedicated mag owners are with thier mags. I went through almost all the same process you did for my noisy cricket, but I didn't have to build the hyperframe from scratch. I am very impressed you kept with it through all this. Looks like it will all pay off in the end. Glad I could lend a hand in the frankin-hypermag.

LONG TIME UPDATE:
Had a speeding ticket (70 in a 45), so that slowed down my HyperTyrant's trip to Tuna, but it went off and arrived at Tuna last friday(3-3-06). I also have a Morlock Predator board coming from UTDragon that will be going on the hypertyrant(I am so psyched, its not even funny) Also, will be drilled for eyes, (hopefully tag will flash the board and update it somewhat) and Reannoed (to match. Again, Magnum, i just need to put finishing touches on the mag) by Fireball Mountain. So uh, yeah, update

k guys, came to a new path in the road. Im trying to decide if i want to keep my ule, get a Chord V2(lots of searching for a good one with a good price) or a karta(again, lots of searching fo ra good one with a good price) Whats your take?

So what do you want for your mag?

CP lighting drop is cool. I've liked mine. Going to a micro razor drop this year.

The Hypermag looks nice. Pretty good feeling to build something nice from scratch isn't it...

as for the cord vs. ULE body my vote is to stay with a ULE body or maybe an excile body because they are just so smooth looking and flow with the gun. The Cord body looks wrinkely and hard to clean between the ripples. I don't know I've just never really liked them or those other after market bodies. AGD has aways done it right with the design of the gun. K.I.S.S K keep it simple stud. :D

wish i could agree with you, but after my anno fiasco(ule's cost a lot to anno, bc you need someone experienced to do them) Id rather not get a ule redone, but something more expensive that I wont regret later. a dallara it is guys. soon as the dallara is in, i will be making preparations for a trip to CoolHand for eye milling, drilling and tapping. Then I gotta start fabricating eye covers, because, and i quote from coolhand, "right where the covers go, the body is swoopy doopy"
he's got a point tho
by the way, angel parts are back from anno, and they look super slick. :headbang: might make a thread about that too

Now the final trip my mag is to make it to Tuna. But thats the real challenge, getting in TOUCH with TUNAMAN.

without macroline and fittings, it weighs 2 pounds 3.4 ounces

def. looking good. Liking the omega rail and Dallara body combo. So what happen to the excile yellow body? If you are thinking of selling it then let me know. I'd love to keep the body with my mag. LMK

get a 2 peice barrel w/ a yellow back and a black front, or even better a black and yellow striped front, then you can name it the bumble bee.

i guess it was teh thought that counted on that one...

sk8ermog, yeah, id sell it, but i'd like to get it reannoed before i sell it to you. I dont like the anno it has, unless you have no prob with the splotchy anno and want another ross deal...

btw, its a thrasher rail, not omega. Its got these "hooks" milled in and its ubersweet
and Sk8ermog, see any resemblances b/w your original and mine? Reverse asa, feedneck, frame, valve...

derek, yeah, i really like the dallara, and im psyched about getting it annoed. I really wish i could figure out what number it was on the list of dallaras, and I got the matching rail with it in my room

no, its just that i already named it HyperTyrant, a good, mean, nice-fitting name, and you want me to call it "Bumblebee"?

guys, i weighed it, without tank or hopper and no bottomline, it weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces. Without the macroline from the 15* asa to the xvalve, it weighs 2 pounds 3.4 ounces

Perdy light if you ask me. I guess if i got a lighter foregrip than just the deregged bko stock regulator

Sk8ermog
04-09-2006, 07:29 PM
Of coarse I'd love to get another "Ross" Deal lol. I just emailed Rogue about a body so this might save me an order. I don't mind the anno, but if you were already thinking of doing it I'd love to do a blue/black anno. I'll email you about it.

I like the name. So is that my old valve and vert asa? I have gone through so many parts that I didn't reconize them. Glad they found a good home.

--====----====----LONG TIME UPDATE----====----====--
~New frame (but it has issues of its own so i might just go with the other one and get it reannoed with the rest of it
~Newly added Rogue foregrip
~Newly added Rogue Barrel Sock (3 different ones actually, black, yellow and red)
~Newly added Rogue Sub Zero Feedneck (collar stays black, actual feedneck will be annoed with the rest of the gun)
~Newly added Rogue Snatch grip
and the pride and joy, Newly added Non Ported 12 inch Deadly Wind Wisper barrel. No porting so more efficient and scarier sounding, and all i have to say is freak compatible carbon fiber barrel. Its funny cuz now i can be like, "You have a stiffi eh? Can you change the bore on that? without a stiffi switch kit, which is like a million dollars" Then i can just watch them turn green with envy

Heres a teaser pic
