Is it worth doing the pneu-mag mod? I dream of a hair trigger but know it won't be like that when finished... Is it significantly better than just a plain ULT?

I had an almsot complete one. I just never ended up using it....I could actually walk it, although it wasnt quite an electro. If you don't like using a ton of bounce w/ the ULT then i would definetly say the mod is worth it.

PM me because i have all the parts if you decide to make the project.

If you want the performance your talking about, you will need an xvalve w/ ULT anyways to get the low pressure in the piston. It is very fun and If you set it up with a fabco msv-1, clippard mpa-3, and micro rock. From what I hear the QEV isn't really needed unless you want to fire fast like 15+ bps. But no one can pull that fast neways. So you can get a pretty light pull. And you can always put a stock frame back on if want the r/t feel again.

So much fun, Not many people have them and it gives you a new sense of pride in your marker.

EDIT: As for the hair trigger, Mine has a around .95mm pull with the modified MSV-1. Is that hair enough. ;) In all honesty though, I like the trigger loner so I set it around 2mm...It is much easier to walk that way. So try to get that sucker as far up the trigger as you can. Batteries are for Pussies!

I like my trigger pull a little long too. By wanting a 'hair' trigger i meant weight of pull.

Also I do not want reactivity. I'll have Xvalve and ULT, just curious to how light the pull can get with the homebrew pneu kit.

The higher up the frame - the lighter. You won't be "lighter" than electros. But you can get right in the mix with them. Go for the msv-1 for max lightness.

Just Do IT! If you don't like it someone will buy it and you won't loose $

Put it in a classic frame! REAL cheap!

I have hit 18bps on a hAir.. :ninja:
It is tuneable down to 0.25mm and 1.7oz pull (measuring from same spot on the trigger for both distance and weight).
I always say you must list the pull length and weight.. otherwise just one parameter leaves the other as a huge variable.

Now that we have our patent issued, there is a very slight glimmer of hope that we will release a "tinkerer's hAir block" of valve and ram to mount into your favorite frame, with your own modifications of course. :)
Will it be soon? ofcourse not!!! but its not 100% dead...

Time, mostly. Been rolling on new products here lately so other commitments have been made and must be met now.

I will create a thread about it once/if we get closer... :)

I didnt think I would ever hear.. err see you post about the hair possibly being released (even if its just parts). Congratulations on the patent!

Ditto Nicad

So if you were issued a patent, then that must mean that it is signifcantly different from whats already been patented.

No, not worth it, just wait for a drop in frame to come out; or learn to shoot the stock valve using the reactive trigger. I can hit 12-15 consistently, using zak vetters rapid fire technique.

Nicad -that’s a mechanical pneumatic patent pending? Or electrical too?

Nicad...congratulations on the patent...I hope it all processes smoothly, can't wait to see it.

i think it only has to be about 10% different, it doesnt have to be too significant.

but this is good news.

Some people like to shoot legally though. ;)

This is the first I've heard of this, I'd love to hear what happened and what the current status is in regard to the patent, (not the release of the hAIR). Is there a write up on the subject, I'd love to chck it out?

NiCad, I can't get a hold of that sniper1rfa guy for the designs. Wanna send me the specs or an orthographic drawing on yours? Actually a CAD file (ProE or Solidworks would do nicely also).

Now that's some awesome news. I'd guess I'm not alone in wishing you'd post a new topic about that and put as much info as you can...? :D

no, not that. the word 'legally'. who shoots that anymore?

Played the first time with ULT yesterday. Very nice, wasn't expecting to be as light as it was but I did short stroke it a bit (first time magging in years). Would the pneu mod prevent shortstroking? If so, it's probably reason enough to do the mod for me.

lots of people...

and theres a big difference between capped ramping and runaway bounce.

bah, ramping is cheating even if tournaments allow it

Or despite popular belief and what youve been told, there isnt yet something that "has already been patented"

Given enough time and legal maneuvering with the Patent Office, and there *may* be something. But this issue is not clear cut black and white. Lots o'shades of gray.

Chimera frame that readily accepts a hAir kit would be nice. Right?
