It's the first time I put it together after working on it on and off for the past four years. It should be done soon. Until then, consider yourselves teased.

Another Beauty Dan. I've been wondering about this E-Mag ecspecially after that escapade with the German Police.

Still not taking orders for custom triggers? I'm assuming not, but as always, if you change your mind, let me know. I've always got more work for you.

....should've figured there'd be a bunch of the old questions.

Yes it will work!!!

But I'm still not going to use it.

Since I'm not touching the valve, and not tampering with any of the functional parts, there is no reason why this thing can't work.

I'm approaching a thousand work hours again though, and there are some parts where I'm looking at aluminum foil now, so it may just get ripped apart when it cycles.
I honestly intended to make this thing more robust, but it just kept getting crazier and more involved. I couldn't stop myself!
In the end, it's going to blow the cocker away as far as looks goes, and as much as I'd love to share more with you, I don't want to ruin it.
I've never shown unfinished work before, but I was excited when I finally saw it and thought I'd throw you guys a bone. It's just enough to wet your lips, and at the right angle to hide the best parts.
Believe me, I want it to be done too!
Later,
Dan

Just out of curiousity what material is that made out of. Is it aluminum. I don't think that is milled it looks more like you poured metal around a mold or shaped it. Has too much of a organic look to it.

I might be wrong.

Sorry, I skipped the most obvious :D
It's an E-mag, supplied to me by the kind folks at AGD.
I didn't make anything except the trigger.
It's just carved aluminum, like all the rest of the guns I did.

So it is an emag with a sight rail and not an xmag? Looks pretty interesting so far, cant wait to see that annoed and a good side view. Give us a little hint, how much does it weight with the valve in it? :D

To clarify, it is an original E-mag, not an X-mag. Excluding the body and the barrell, the parts are from 2001.

I live in Germany for almost 5 years now, and I make these guns in my workshop in my spare time, which I actually don't have a lot of. If I had more time, I'd be done faster.

I haven't posted on this site in a while however this thread includes a few things that peak my interest.
First, some simple math.
24 hours in a day, basically 365 days a year..
That means there is 8760 hours in a year...

24 - 8 (8 being sleeping time) is 16.. So, that takes the time down to 5840 hours in one year.
Assuming you cook for yourself, let us say that takes 2.5 hours a day. Preparing, eactually eating, cleaning / going out, waiting for food, whatever. (rounding up) that makes you have 4928 hours in one year. I know in Germany the hours for working are a bit funny, no Sundays, and I think everything is closed after around 8:00 at night.. Alright, so lets go on the skimpy side and say you work 30 hours a week. 30 x 50 (2 week vacation) is 1500 hours by work. 3425 hours is left over. Now, you don't get to work instantly, so to take off a nasty number, let us assume you have 3000 hours of time after travel time+work..

That would mean, a normal human would have roughly 3000 hours to screw around, and do whatever they please. Now just imagine, taking 1/3 of your time of an entire year of your life to mill ONE gun... We all know machining time is quite a bit of an hourly cost. Let us say you are generous, and work for the low low cost of $20 dollars an hour, machining, that would mean this gun should cost $20,000+the emag itself being (basically)800...
Here we have the 20,800 dollar mag.
Now that that useless, boring, uninspiring section of this post is done...

I'm actually going to Germany next year as an exchange student for my 3rd year of highschool. I understand that most people in Europe use Linux instead of microsoft, is this true?

Oh, and by the way...

Groß arbeit auf das $20,000 Mag. :wow:

Groß arbeit auf das $20,000 Mag. :wow:

With my last project, I was a bit more serious about keeping track of the time I spent, and I wound up around 1200 hours in a year and eight month time span. I could add another hundred for time spent staring at the thing and wondering what to do next, and maybe subtract another 50 for the two barrels I carved to scrap. The estimate is pretty close in that case.
With the E-mag, things are a bit different. I started on this thing when I got to Germany at the end of 2001. I tinkered with the rail and the sight rail for a while, then actually started messing with a few other mag parts too. Things got totally chaotic when I started on the cocker too. I soon made the decision to focus solely on the cocker instead of three projects at once. When the cocker was finished I went back to the E-mag, leaving the other mag on the side for the last project.
So the E-mag has been spread out over a larger time period, and I honestly have no real grasp on how much time I've actually spent on it. There are days when I don't work on it at all, then there are weekends and holidays where I don't see the light of day.
A safe guess for this one in it's completed form will be somewhere around 1000 hours. It might even be more, but I'm not really sure anymore. It doesn't really matter to me either.
As far as your price estimate goes, it sounds reasonable, but I'm not reasonable when it comes to asking for money. A largely unaccounted for and costly factor is the loss of my sanity in the process, so in the end I'm crazy enough to ask for a million dollars for this thing.....and that's what I'm going to do. Nobody buys my stuff any way, telling me I'm insane to ask for so much for a gun that is meant for show.
The bottom line is that the price does not matter to me, nor does selling it. I'm honestly insulted though when a person from a reputable company offers me a gun in trade or a mere 1000$ for such a piece. I can only say that they have no clue about what they are looking at.
I love making these things, and the comments I get from you guys when I show them are priceless. That's why when the new website is out, it's going to focus on fun and entertainment instead of making money. For all that it takes out of my pocket, and it's actually quite a bit, it's worth it.

I'm not sure what system they use over here, I'm still using my '99 Imac so you're asking the wrong person. Sorry.
Back to the E-mag :D
