Well, new to me anyway.

Thanks go out to Duzzy for parting with this beast for a damned good price.

I did the frame transplant, JMJ did the machine work once upon a time.

Now, on with the pictures.

Et Voila:

I gotta toss it on a scale now to check the weight, it feels so damned light.

No way, not touching it.

I love the Featherlight milling.

Been wanting one since they were brand new.

I've got an unmilled one setting here waiting to be gnawed on.

Yes, I could do it, but I'm not sure that anyone can justify the $250 price tag of that UL frame.

Plus, no offense intended to any DM6 owners out there, but I don't really like the way the UL frame looks.

Now, if someone has a Viking they want me to mount one on (and they are paying ;) ), that's another story . . . . . . .

Well for the record , I'm likely one of the few DM6'ers who don't really care for the UL frame. If I ever re-anno it , I'll probably sell the frame off it and put a 5 frame in place of it.

So...

Nice work. :)

Hmmm...

On second thought I want it back. Don't worry, I won't charge you for all the pain and headaches I will have to go through to get that awful frame anno'd. I won't even charge you for altering my baby in the first place. Just send her back "as is" and you can have a refund and we'll pretend it never happened.

Just kidding, glad you like it. Not a big fan of how the frame (Specifically the trigger.) looks, but if it feels good go for it.

Werd to yo motha.

What I really want to do is buy an older CJ-7. I'd put big wheels and tires, lift it a little bit, do all the little offroad accessories and then paint it ALL flat black.

Wish I could have sold you the one I had in Hawaii... Pretty much identical to what you said, but the whole body was Rhino Lined (inside and out) in flat black instead of painted.

Faster than I, you, or anyone else can pull the trigger.

Price depends on the condition. This one was a little rough when I got it (not much though, and it is four years old, I'd say it's seen some use in its day.), so I got it cheaper than normal.

I'd say you should be able to pick up any '03 featherlight for ~$600-$700

Heh, don't really know... I bought it that way. It was awesome though! Even the metal dash was covered in it. Looked like they took everything off and just dipped the sucker. :D

 CoolHand, you never cease to amaze.

That marker would be stunning if the colors matched and the trigger was changed to something thicker looking...

The dm frame is perfect for the 03 or older Vikes since the snatch end of the frame is almost flush with the vike's back. On the 04 vikes, the snatch end would stick out since 04's are slightly shorter in length, this can be seen on cockerspaniel's similar dm frame mod on a 04 vike(found on the AKA sub forum on PBN). The trigger on that frame looks like a winner to boot.

Great idea... my stock 04 Excal is begging for a mod. :p

Steelrat, while that custom Vike is a great find... i still have fond memories of your white streamline Excal.

cheers

'04 Viking came with the bag, extra parts, extra Pandora board (has M-5 installed), PC cables. I already bought it just wanted to check what I paid in comparison.

Nice DC Viking. Solid $800. What you paid and the market value are probably a little different. And I am counting both boards.
I'm trying to remember if thats the one Shockergeek was selling. A guy that was almost local to me sold it to him.
Though some of the aftermarket Vikings have dipped down to the $700s for straight cash. Trade value would be better. There are still guys getting DM6 offers on Highlander milled Vikings.

But yeah, I actually like the stock AKA frames on my markers.

Nice, at the field this weekend a guy had a viking with a shocker TonTon frame attached. This is making me think about trying some frame transplants in the near future.

Also, how well did the AKA interenals fit in there? Was much milling necessary.

Not much actually goes in the frame. Only the battery and the microswtich. The board is mounted in the tray above the frame.

If I scrounge up enough cash, I may just have to consider a frame transplant. ;)

plus, frames are redily available now from dm's, since everyone is going to the UL frame.

CoolHand
02-13-2006, 09:08 PM
Yeah, a Vike is a real easy one to put a new frame on. I did have to cut out the board mount Et. Al. inside the frame for the battery and connector to fit.

All the machine work is very straightforward.

I know what you mean about the cheap frames, I have two more setting here waiting for the perfect project to come along. :ninja:

It's all about FMV... I got $1000 for my 03 DC less than 3 months ago. I waited and didn't rush my sale.. Someone realized how nice it was and offered me what I would take to part with it. I feel lucky!
