View Full Version : Photo contest… any photographers out there?

MoeMag

I am not bashing the MOTM by any means. In fact I am a fan of mag of the month but,

I noticed one of the rules was…

“2) I don't care how great or sucky your pictures are, it's a gun contest not a photogenic prize.”

Well that gave me an Idea.

Photo contest. I am looking for great photographic composition of Automags.

I find that “mug shots” of paintball guns are unimaginative. Lets see some photographic talent

*******EDIT 4-9-06 UPDATE*************
Lets get some good desktop wallpaper images. I'm getting tired of cars and planes on my desktop, time for some paintball pics.

I'll play in the studio when I get home with something with more of the gun in it. Gotta have excuses to play with the 5D.

http://evanp.ca/pball/ao_pics/DSCF1145_t.JPG (http://evanp.ca/pball/ao_pics/DSCF1145.JPG)

Because I like to know, could people post what camera they are using? I'm using a Fuji S5100. The picture were taken with no flash, lit by crappy fluorescent bulbs. The first shot was just a crappy auto everything shot, the second shot was taken with a 2.8 aperture, which didn't do what I wanted.

tippmannsniper-

i used a canon rebel, i used natural light, and a flashlight for hilighting, last pics were in black & white, i cant remember what aperature they were taken on

no flash was used, i hate flash

I'm pretty sure I took that on a Canon 20D. I just got myself a Canon 5D, so pretty much anything I take now is on the 5D.

Just curious? if you have no mags why are you here? Just a mag enthusiast... if so thats great, welcome!

All guns welcome.

I really like the black & white pics (all of them) Very nice

The green e-mag. OMG! I want your gun. Did tuna do all your mods and anno?

X-mags… ughh disgustingly beautiful. Just a mug of an x-mag is a work of art. :hail:

No, he's fully responsible for the trigger. The green is factory direct from AGD. Since they use a couple of different annoers, I'm not quite sure who worked on mine. You can't tell from the picture, but it's a pewter body/xvalve. I made the custom selector switch. The grips are from one of the dealers (Luke IIRC).

I know this wasn't directed towards me, but I've never owned a mag. Always liked them, but never had a chance to own one. I like the boards here, a lot fewer kiddies than PBN, and typically better conversations. Not just "omg my shocker is a agg gat yo and I wil shoot u in teh face!!1111"

Anyway, there's no requirement to own a mag to browse/post here. :P Maybe I'll try to get a pic of my angel on here a bit later.

I like the all white e-mag. Never thought of having a white gun. Is it powder coated or painted? Can a gun be simply painted? I ask because my e-mag I just picked up needs a new finish. I was thinking green anno but if I could paint it, and have it look good and be durable, I would do that.

LEGO’s RULE!!!

Camilion, what is the model and year of the all blue angel in the lego stand? There is one just like that, color and all, in my shop for $350. I was thinking about getting it but I don’t know anything about angels, so I left it there for the time being.

Its an 03 Angel Speed. They are ok. Nothing special. The 05 Speed and G7 models are much much better.

The Grips are bu Luke, he's posted numerous times in the forums. They are raw, I plan to anno them at some point. I'll do them in a matching pewter color. The feedneck is A+, but I annoed it myself (it's pretty inconsistant).

How well does that work? About how long to dump a gig worth of images? I haul around my laptop. It's bulky but pretty fast. I also have an external firewire enclosure with a 60g drive in it (with a 2nd FW connector, for daisy chaining). I like to copy images to two storage devices to make sure I don't lose a drive and a load of images.

She hasn't used it yet, so I can't tell you. She's still messing around with her new toy (XT) in around the house. She was just accepted to istockphoto.com as a contributing photographer, so she's pretty stoked.
I can't blame you for wanting more than one place to back up your pics--they are a little more valuable since you don't have negatives.

Hexis,
how do you find the 5d with the iso compared to the 20d???
I was told just this past weekend... that you can have the best camera base on earth but it isn't crap without a few good lenses..
so what lenses do you use??

if anyone needs somewhere to host thier shots I would suggest www.flickr.com (http://www.flickr.com) it gives you the options of throwing out the url for 4 different sizes of you picture... allows like 20 mb of uploads each month. and it has a neat little community of groups for all the different pictures you take... so far there is only one group for paintball, would love to have more.. oh yea did I mention that it is free?? as in no money....
You can upgrade if you need more space.. I believe its like a measly $25 a year and that gives you 2 gig of uploads a month..
my flickr space www.cameosteph.com (http://www.cameosteph.com)

ps; I would post a pic of a mag, but alas, i do not have one. :wow:

I just switched to Canon from Nikon, so I have a pretty small collecetion of glass. So far:
EF 50mm f1.4
EF 16-35mm f2.8L
EF 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 IS (version 1)
Sigma 28-200 f-something (don't really use it ever).

In the house there is also:
EF 50mm f1.4
EF 100mm f2.0
EF 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 IS (also v1)
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Sigma 28-300mm f-something
EOS 1Ds-mk2
EOS 20D
550EX
A full studio

I think my next real lens will be a 70-200mm f2.8L IS. I'm also looking at the Sigma 12-24mm (I love wide a lot) and the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 or 24-70mm f2.8. The Canon 24-70mm 2.8L is a bellows, so I don't like it much.

Ok, so that's one image a month. ;)
