Id be happy with one case of paint but 25 s.. I mean wow

and by hopperball do you mean going onto a field with no pods only what you can fit in your hopper?

No, you carry spare hoppers instead of pods.

The "good old days" of the PanAm and 200 balls per player on the field.

At one time not 'that' long ago it seems....

You could play w/ a hopper at a time, very often not even re-filling between games. Maybe a only couple times a day.

Cases were 2500 rounds and a single case lasted for like a month and half. :)

'Course it was also like $100-$150 a case back then too but still.

Yes then came the dawn of the RT era. I remember it well. There was savage and brutal rates of fire to be had with the RT. Adults, kids and even refs ran in fear of what was about to be unleached. Having case or two of proball and an RT ment you could part small trees without ball breaks. No where to run, no place to hide and no palyer was safe from the awesome firepower of the RT. Yes, it was a blood bath back in them days! Watching people fall like flys like the God of War himself. It was so fun haha. The days of hopperball were over and muti pods became the norm. Field owners were laughing uncontrolably in their pots of gold with the money procured from paint sales. It has all led to this.

heck, they charge that much per paintball at my local field...

/I have resorted to shooting ppl in the face w/ wads of cash, as it is much cheaper than buying paintballs.

remember?? Thats how I force my team to play with we scrimage.. it forces people to move and become less reliant on the trigger and more on there legs and brain.

Case a day is normal for me in most settings except in agressive tourny ball than Im sinking atleast 2-3 cases of paint in a 7 man situation

Actually all of our tournaments here are hopper ball, including speedball. It may sound crazy for hopper ball in speedball these days but people actually manage to move around the field durring the game :P

Thats 50,000 paintballs! :wow:
I hope you got a bulk discount. Otherwise that is easily $1000 of paint.

Edit: that is double TS on my e-mag

I was actually forced to play hopperball the last time I went out with my outlaw woodsball group by sheer dint of forgetting my packs and pods at home. Everyone else played standard fare carry all you want paintball, and I found I still have some moves for a hard-run 30 year old (it ain't the years, it's the mileage). It's amazing how lighter you are on your feet without a pack weighing you down, how much more cognizant you are of how much paint you've got left in the hopper and how miserly you get with it. Usually I'm a hose-beast, but that day I was Sniper Man: 5 shots, one marking, move on to the next opponent.

i still get to play hopper ball quite often actually. i practice for 5-man tournaments sometimes playing only hopper ball. ive even played hopper ball in tourneys sometimes(like when my team is in finals but still has games left, or when we have no chance and just want to do crazy stuff)

when i play with my friends in my hometown, i always play hopper ball. there is such a variance in skills that those of us who do play tourneys, etc just play with hoppers and either sit back and try to one ball people, or do suicide runs to the 50's.

hopper ball in the woods used to be the greatest though, i too remember playing for 2 days straight with only a 500rd bag. wish i could still do that...would be able to actually afford other things ;)

We played 100 round games so when it came time for a tourney 200 was more than enough. I love & still play hopper ball every chance I get.

meh, you dont HAVE to shoot a ton of paint now-a-days. Our last 5 man, we played 12 games, all the way through finals, and only reloaded twice all day. And we finished 2nd out of 69 teams, so, it wasnt and itty bitty event or anything. Playing faster=less paint (we won a man game in 14 sec) and i believe all of our games were under a minute, just play like its X ball, at a 5 man, you will save paint lol.

Best game I ever had was hopper ball, it was just me and half a hopper of paintballs left. I managed to get behind the other team and took out the final 4 of them. (please note this is woodsball). I have gotten out more people in a game than 4 before, but that one sticks out because I did it with about half a hopper of paintballs.

Along these lines, would anyone REALLY be interested in playing a 100-ball per game 5-man tournament? I'm working on something like that up here....

The good old days of calling up TASO on Wednesday ordering a case (2500) of powerball for $50 instead of going to the local store and picking up the same thing for about 100. And when you wanted something better you paid 135 for a case of proball.

I filled in on a roster spot for a team that was running a scrimmage. They pulled a team out of Chicago, one out of Detroit, and one out of TC (two of the teams shooting minions - the pictures don't look as nice as the gun does in person). This was for a Saturday evening / Sunday morning seven man practice session. I watched the visiting teams unload 20+ cases of paint each.
