Correct me if Im wrong, which I frequently am, but since the AIR valve is rated to 300psi, wouldnt it be possible to attach a scuba tank directly to a mag without the use of a subsequent reg?

Or would one just end up with an exploded marker?

I have seen the video, which heightened my suspicions, but I was unsure if he was using an inline reg that I couldnt see.

So then, such a rig is plausible?

A SCUBA first stage regulator will have high and low outputs on it, some are at full tank pressure, those are the ones that are designed to connect to guages and such, the low pressure outputs are at 150-180 psi on most first stages. So depending on your needs you might be able to use the low pressure outputs.

Yep just make sure you use the proper saftey measures IE stainless steel hose and high quality fittings... 3000 psi can be dangerous.

Whatever you put into the mag gets reg'd down to about 400 psi anyway

simple correction, and i plan on doing this to my emag when i find a scuba, an a gauge, got some bills to pay firts..someone already hit 31, on an xmod'd scuba emag set up

i wouldn't even go past 1800 psi unless i found some air fittings that are certified or something. a 3000psi leak would be very dangerous.

As far as fittings and stuff for the setup, the standard remote line for paintball that I see in paintball stores has this printed on the line "3000 psi rated, 10000 psi burst strength".

Personally, I wouldn't go above 2400 or so. I don't think you'll notice the extra 600 psi, and putting 3000 psi directly into the gun makes me nervous. I mean, you can hit 20 bps with 1200 psi or so, cranking it to 2400 should get you just about as fast as you want to go.

I would like to point out that I put in about 2600 psi for the cps video. That was the first test of the valve. Later testing I ran various input pressures ranging from 1800-2400 psi. I want not able to determine an ideal pressure from these tests but it felt pretty good a few 100 psi around 2000.

I'll tell you right now that for future mech RT videos I would NOT use an E-Mag/X-Mag because you only drag that solenoid plunger up and down slowing the cycle rates down.

You want max speed? you want minimal mass cycling back and forth and that is Mech RT sear not an E-Mag.

It should also be noted that the valve starts leaking around 16-1800 psi. I never cared enough to figure out why but I suspect it's because while the valve is capable of up to 3000 psi input, the internal components (springs etc) are optomized for a range of ~800-1200p psi
