What is milling?

Can someone please explain what the milling on a gun is. "Milling"

Milling refers to how the gun is cut, the patterns, etc. All guns start their life as stock aluminum bars. Sometimes guns are milled after their original manufacture/milling to reduce more weight or cut in personal designs. Mostly for weight.

As has already been stated, most guns, with some notable exceptions (like Tippmanns, which are made out of cast aluminum, Automags, which are made of stainless steel, and Brass Eagle guns, which are made of plastic) start out as a block of aluminum, which is then shaved down in a mill, for cosmetic purposes as well as to make room for the internals of the gun.

A mill, in this instance, being a device used to remove metal, not a factory for making cloth.

2.The grinding, cutting, or processing of metal, cloth, etc. in a mill
3. a.) The process of ridging the edge of a coin, etc. b.) The ridging thus produced; milled edge
4. The circular or random motion of or as of a herd or crowd

That clears up the definition as it applies to paintball perfectly, doesn't it?

I'm considering the TM1-P. I would like one of the larger machines but the $$$ will be the deciding factor.

Me too. I like the single/three phase, and the full enclosure. I might spring for the VF-0 though, ya never know. lol What's another eight grand when you're spending fourty, right?

I REALLY want an 8-10k rpm spindle though, so I might have to try for something else.

Also looking at a Sharp with a Fanuc Oi-M control. Know anything about them? They're fairly new, so I'm having a hard time scraping up research. But, I mean, it's a Fanuc, it would have to try pretty hard to be a bad control.

Typically, when one uses the expression, "That's what God gave them to us for," one is referring to Christianity; I can't say that I've ever heard a Hindu or Muslim use that phrase before.
