Hey, I was thinking about buying a 13-inch crown point barrel off of tunamart, and was wondering if anyone can comment on their accuracy, consistancy, and sound, and whether tuna ships to afpo boxes?

Thanks,
nixcamic

They have a nice metallic ring w/ every shot. Don't know if you will like that but it never bothered me too much. No less accurate than any other barrel I've used.

You can use them to stab people who try to bunker you. Seriously, I've seen some grizzly wounds from crownpoint collisions

I'd be willing to bet that's got more to do with your gun/barrel combo than the barrel itself.

Maybe, I just thought that was how they sounded. I've only seen a few other people shoot a crown point and they all had a "ping" sound to them. It's been a few years since I used it but I remember it being a decent barrel.

no, the crownpoints are notorious for the ping.

Well, seeing as there is only one gun the crown point goes on, we may never know if thats true.

Yep the ping comes standard. The longer the louder the ping. my 8" isnt very load. I have had both the 11' & 8" , they both worked/work great.

I love my 11" crown point. They do sound like tuning forks when you shoot them though.

Also, what is the bore on them, and is the barrel length the effective length, or the length from the beginning of the breech to the end of the points?

what are you guys talking about?! the crown point is the most accurate barrel ever made!!!!!!!!!! :ninja:

(for those who actually remember when the crown point came out, and the little fiasco behind it)

if i remember correctly several years ago Tom here on AO had some long scientific reason why the CP is theoreticaly the most accurate barrel.

does anyone remember that?

I don't know about the 13-in, but I have an 8 and 11 inch. I shoot them on my Emag, my automag, and RT, and there is always the notorious "ping". But I like my barrels. The only reason I have an aftermarket barrel was because it was given to me. It is a CP, and I don't use it b/c I notice a serious dropoff when I did use it.
And yes, Tuna does ship to APO/FPO.

My 13 inch Crown Point is my favorite barrel of all time. It preforms on par with everything I have tried for my Automag (Dye, SP, etc.). I'm even thinking about buying an extra 13 inch and having the back milled to cocker threads for fit my ULE body.

Haha, that thread is awesome, I don't understand how people got so ticked over it though. Thanks for the info.

Strange, I've never used a Crown Point and all my 'Mags have had the ping. I've used LAPCOs, Freaks, and J&Js and they all result in the ping. I've also heard it on the field from other 'Mags that don't have CPs on them.

If you don't like the ping, put an oring on the end of the barrel. It dampens the tuning fork aka crown point.

Did people? I'm pretty sure Tom came back and admitted it was all a joke, and offered free refunds to anyone who wanted one.

You have/don't/will never see that kind of company loyalty for the rest of your lives.

And I was worried that I couldn't get the crown point for $20...
