If any AOers are looking to come and are interested in camping right there at the field, all of the good sites are gone...there still might be some far sites available...not sure.

But anyways...I'm just going with one friend so I have room on my campsite if anybody wants to rent out part of it. I paid $100 for the site for the weekend, friday night through Sunday evening. I'd ask for $25 per vehicle/tent/1-3 people with a maximum of two additional tents/vehicles/1-3 people.

The campsite is close to the field, one of the bigger sites, fire pit, picnic table, 35x50.

PM me if you're interested. You sned me the $25...paypal, MOs, check...I send you a copy of the camping paperwork (rules) and a permit/tag that will allow you to bring your vehicle in that area. Even if you don't camp there...it'll give you a guaranteed prime parking spot and place to keep your gear where it's attainable.

It's first come first serve...I'll post again when the two spots are taken.

That B&B is tempting...but the only reason I'm camping is to be as close to the field as possible. Since this isn't open play, I won't be able to keep my equipment in my trunk and have access to it...and with 2000 people coming...some will be parked pretty far away, off campus. That means you will have essentially zero access to your vehicle during the game.

By staying 2min walk from the field, I can keep some of my gear locked in my car and still have at least some access to it during the playtime. That's my theory. A friend of mine lives 10 minutes away and I could have stayed there for free...10 min drive just like your B&B...but I just thought staying right there at the field would avoid having to keep all my gear out in the open and avoid having to park God knows where.

5min walk or 5min drive? If it's 5min walk...it's probably the field's campsites...just the ones that are further away...but they quoted those to me as $60 for the weekend. You must be talking about a campground 5min drive from there.

Still got one spot open at the campsite...

Not sure what I should do about equipment.

On the one hand, I can probably fit all my essential stuff in a backpack and actually wear it on the field (it's an Army camo Alice pack). That would leave just the cooler at the staging area. On the other hand, I could try to buy some storage bin and use a bike chain or something to lock it up. Then I could leave my essentials and extra paint in the bin.

Since this is my first time at the monster game, I guess I'm wondering what others do. It's not like open play where you can keep most of your gear in your trunk.

Well, first, a camping update....there is still one spot left on my camping site. That one spot can accomodate a tent, a car, and up to 3 people...$25 for the weekend.

Still not sure on the rules as I have not received my camping packet yet. I received my players packet on Friday, but no camping packet yet. I will call the office about it tommorrow. I'm interested to know what the rules are, will they allow fires? Will they allow outside firewood? And dang it, I need those parking tags!!

I've been trying to plan what I'm going to bring with me on the field. I purchased an 8+1 harness...I figure I'm going to use 6 of the pods for ammo, carry an extra air tank, and use one of the pod slots for a water bottle. The other pod slot I'm still trying to decide what to put in there. Right now I'm thinking, a straw for the water bottle, a small copy of the field map, a spare set of car keys, maybe a couple 9V batteries. I was also thinking about a couple tools to adjust my velocity in case it starts to creep high while I'm out there...but I guess tools are illegal to carry on the field.

Other items I'll have with me...camera, squeegie, towel...

Then I started thinking...I should be able to get off 700 shots on a full 68/4500..so why bring an extra tank? I'll just fill up when I leave to get more ammo (or if I get hit). The only thing I can think of is that maybe I get hit out, don't feel like standing in line for air as a team reinserts...so I have that "option" to use the 47/3000 if I reinsert without filling up. But do I want that tank on my back all day just for that reason??

I've also been doing some thinking about whether or not I want to be an officer. Right now I'm thinking that if a lieutenant spot is open when I get there, I might take it. I know it's my first Monster Game...but I've played that alot and I'd only be a lieutenant...not like colonel or anything.

I plan on being there bright and early at about 5:30-6:00 to make sure I get a good spot in line and a place to set my cooler/wagon in the staging area. Hopefully I'm not hung over or too tired from the night before!! :spit_take

As for markers:
Day 1: I will be using (for the first time) my 2k autococker that I will have just gotten back from Brad Nestle (he had to repair it). I want to test it out...nothing like baptism by fire.
Day 2: I will also be getting back from Mr. Nestle a milled Retro Valve which I will be installing a ULT in as soon as I get it back (already got the ULT). Barring any problems...Day 2 will be the first time I use my new Minimag...my future primary marker!

Last night I fixed both of my friend's markers...a Stingray and an Eradicator. Assuming they both break, because they always do, I'll lend him my Raptor SE for the remainder of the event. It's BE, but it works well.

I was supposed to debut my autococker and Minimag at the event...but neither of them are working and they are being mailed out today for repairs...so it looks like I'll be using my trusty Classic Mag. :hail:

I don't have anything offical but I had heard that Red won buy 1600 points, but like I said that is only what I had heard I didn't stick around after 6 on sunday.

I emailed back and forth with the HSI office this morning, and they did confirm a YELLOW victory, but said that final scores will not be posted until later this week.

The final score was Yellow winning buy about 2000. I can't remember the total score, I'm thinking like 27000 to 25000...somewhere around there.

I was a lieutenant on the yellow team both days. We struggled out of the gate, but once the teams evened out...probably more than evened out :ninja: ...we did pretty well.

i appreciated the teams being evened out, what i don't like is how players were bribed to switch by handing out free paint and raffle tickets. at least, that's what i was told. i had fun anyway.

came from cleveland, ohio with 8 others...met 2 Osoks from Canada...met my friend "Conan"...this was my 3rd year to the Monster and it was great as usual...only bad thing because of the nature of going out, you don't play with your friends all day...all in all it was great...

I know what you mean. My friends were getting perturbed with me because all of the sudden I would disappear. I just wasn't used to playing with people...usually I'm on my own...so I just move where I need to go.
