Anyone know a place to get soft foam padding, the type that is used to line boxes with? I checked the craft stores, and im not too impressed with the stuff they carry (or the price)

Anyone?

try getting a hold of some egg crate. The stuff people put under their sheets to make it softer.

My dad owns a upholstery shop... He has foam foam they use in sofa's from 1/2in thickness up to 6in thickness

how much do you need?

If you need corrugated foam, like they use in some of the cases for guns, cameras, and the like, I have tons of it. It comes in either 12-inch squares, or in rectangles of a couple of different sizes. The color is either dark grey, blue, or pink, if it matters.

I could probably get foam similar to that posted by hitech, as well, but it would actually be of miscellaneous shapes. In my case, I just happen to work for a wasteful company, who also services Ford and GM electronics, so they are constantly throwing away shipping foam.

imagine if paintballs were filled of a silly string material, and just spread everywhere and stuck to you? harder to wipe, and it would be fun

Just go to Lowes or Home Depot. I was able to find some foam padding type substance a few days back. They have everything: styrofoam, rubber padding, extremely warped lumber, etc. Check at your local large hardware store and see what you can find.

Saw something interesting a few years back.

Open case, line with garbage bag or similar.

Fill case with spray foam insulation, lay large piece of fabric or towel over surface of foam.

Press paintball gun, tank, barrels, small tool kits and other parts into fabric/towel.

Use the bottom of a glass, or other objects to make small circular or square indentations in the surface as well to hold smaller parts.

let dry.

Pull foam out of case, wrap fabric/towel around the edges and place tightly back into case.

Makes a form fitted case to hold everything perfect for you.

You get another gun, or different stuff, just pull it out and do it again.

I made this gun case out of a suitcase, foam insulation material (that you'd put on the outside of your house), and mattress pads.

http://www.jayloo.com/files/pics/34000/paintball_suitcase.JPG (http://www.jayloo.com/photo_gallery/show_pic/34399.html)

The hard insulation form is to pride rigidity...the matress pads are for softness.

You can get it at Lowes, Home Depot, whatever

Its usually in the door jam area, or it is found near all the insulation.
