I was heavily into my paintball in the UK for many years in the UK and played for the team fly fishing by jr hartley however i havent played in about 11 years. Now splitting my time between Japan and Australia I am very keen to get back into the sport. I have a 12 year old automag that was running a bottom line co2 (all they had at the time) and a vertical co2 expansion tank. Now from what limited research i have done it seems that this is all woefully out of date and i am wondering what upgrades are available for this marker and if the cost of all these is going to outweigh just going out and spending 1000 bucks on a new high end electronic marker. Please lend me your technical expertise on this problem

Hey dude, there's a fair few upgrades you can get for your mag, firstly, your right about running your mag on Co2. You can pick up a whole air system for around £140 or less if buy used. A fixed air presssure system (800-850 psi) is gonna be alot cheaper than a variable pressure system. I've got a centreflag system (850 psi) fixed pressure system and it rocks!! The regulator is the cheap part, it cost me around £30 leaving the bottle. MY friend just bought a DYE Full Throttle system reg and bottle for £120 which really suprised me. The bottles come in various sizes like Co2 bottles. An X-valve is a worthy upgrade but the expensive bit, but you can trade in your old mag valve in part exchange for around £140 in total (i live in the UK hence it's in pounds, but i haven't included the customs bit 'cos i guess it varies country to country). A level 10 bolt is essential for a whole lot less ball chops £40. Cosmetically, where do i start?http://www.themagsmith.com/

These are just a few of the places to look at. Also there is a large do it yourself modding scene which really takes the biscuit in how to make your mag fire as half as fast as a six barrel mini gun! (i kid you not!). 34 balls per second is a real hoot to watch and i couldn't belive my peepers! From a do it yourself electro to a pneumatic trigger mod for your mag (my particular favourite and one i'm doing myself! :shooting: )

Anyway the level 10 anti chop bolt and the air system are the first place to start moving on to the X-valve at a later date for bouncy trigger fun and games. Grip frames, bodies, blade triggers etc later. Oh, and i nearly forgot! A decent hopper! i've settled on an viewloader evo hopper (£60) . I can't outshoot it, and you can vary the feed speed. Well i hope this helps you on you way, happy hunting!

Almost forgot, i reckon your mag may well work ok straight out of the cupboard after all that time. I had a 3 year gap between going, i took out of the wardrobe oiled it and it worked first first time :headbang: !!!
