Call me old school but I don't like digital it just doesn't have that "feeling" that film has. Some of these haven't been photoshoped.

Shot up on the boundry waters in Canada Fathers Canon AE-1

I don't shoot much film any more, but I started on an old Nikkormat then moved to a Canon AE-1 Program. After I bought my 10D I wanted a film body that would fit my new EF glass so I bought a Canon Elan 7.

I shoot digital 90% of the time and unless you are shooting B&W and doing your own developement and prints, I think digital is better. Most places that develope film these days use crappy systems.

The first camera I ever bought was a Cannon AE-1. Still have it somewhere. Nice to know I'm in good company. :D

My friend Deano has a Elan 7 as much as I want one unfortuantly I can't afford it right now (got to many loans). I found out that the Walmart in my town develops them pretty good due to the fact I went to school with the guy thats usaully there. But for B&W's I take mine to a camera store to have developed.

Well, the problem isn't so much the people doing the developing, but the machines doing the developing.

I’m not into the technical thing of photography really, but I do have a small collection of old cameras. I got this camera for a graduation present in high school and have had a lot of fun with it...
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d53/MoeRoark/DSCN0186.jpg

Well I got a roll of 120 film, re-rolled it onto a 620 spool, and off I went!

This is one of my favorites I have taken with it...

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d53/MoeRoark/galli18.jpg

This is a photo of my horse on his 18th birthday... almost 2 years ago. He looks even better now.

Anyway, I had the film developed by a local lab company and had it done in sepia. I think it turned out really well. I have a big copy of it framed in my room.

oh...
another one of my favorites...
I took this one with my old nikon slr

That looks so familiar to me, where'd you take that? And how do you manage to get decent shots of fireworks?

Great pictures Jason, as always. :)

e: Ahh, I just realized what I was thinking of, it reminded me of a lock on the C&O canal, although I'm sure you didn't come all the way down here just to take some more outdoorsy photos.

Muzikman
07-26-2006, 03:55 PM
That photo is of the Grist Mill / Dam at McConnells Mill State Park here in PA (just down from where IAO use to be held). I do have quite a few photos from other places I have been, but none of the C&O, which, isn't that the canal that goes from Cumberland, MD to some where around DC?

Getting good firework shots is not so much about the photographer as it is the display. I find the best displays to shoot are small community ones. They have less money and less shells, so they tend to shoot one at a time. This makes for good fire works because it allows some time for the smoke to clear and you don't get over exposed photos from multiple bursts. The location and weather helps too. A cool, low humidity, windy (as long as it's not blowing at you) night are the best conditions.

"Useful art," AKA a cigarette-shaped ashtray outside the art building at Trinity.

And again:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/makeway4ducky/other%20stuff/IMG_12472.jpg

I liked the way this turned out, even though it was meant to showcase the jewelry I made and not the photography, and I can't use it anyway, because the colors aren't true. The center stone is jade and the piece is a chain maille Byzantine stitch.
