a friend finds one in his closet and I give him $50 for it. Took it out and shot it, pretty cool. Anyone have any idea what they are worth? Its also known as a spot marker. looks like a S&W 357 mag.

It's a collector's item. You're talking about the 50cal revolver marker right?

that sounds about right for price,

just be careful if you disassemble it, i have heard so many storied of springs shoting all over the place and being lost and then once they were replaced having the worst time putting them back in.

its a fun little gun from what im told but just not something you want to use as a main pistol.

if you want to sell it go over to www.mcarterbrown.com (or even if you need more info)

Yes, it's in the nbox with the paperwork and original 50 cal balls. Looks like new. THanks for the heads up.

I saw a vid of someone bunkering someone over a snake with only a 3357. Looked pretty sweet.

I'm known as a flanker so I'm tempted to keep it for a while and use that. The thing is it's mint and don't want to mark it up.

The only downfall about this marker is the 50 cal paint. Make sure you are playing with guys who understand they are not going to get a dime or quarter size mark. A friend used to play with one and use it just for the indimidation factor. Looks pretty mean in a western style holster.

Great collectors' items, but they tend to be temperamental. They most closely resemble the Crosman .177 pellet gun still in production (model 357?) and some of the parts are interchangable or can be modified to fit.

If you're going to play with it, you will be severely outgunned, even by those with stock-class markers. The .50 paint doesn't fly as far or as straight in wind due to the fact that it doesn't weigh as much (and most fields won't let you shoot hot to compensate), doesn't break as well at range or leave as big a mark. That and the fact you only have six shots before you have to take out the cylinder and reload don't make it very practical for play...maybe break it out for a scenario or something but certainly not for everyday.

If you're looking for something with the "old school" feel, you can get Splatmasters for $40 or so and a Nelspot or PGP for around $100.
