I've been looking for the right belt for quite a time now and I haven't found it, I hoping someone here who cares about being comfortable and carrying all their stuff has a good solution for me.

I'm looking to use this belt for hunting and hiking. I currently have a 30 year old leather belt that is starting to fail, and a 1 year old nylon military pistol belt (2"). The Nylon belt is too wide to accomodate my hunting knife, flashlight and similar "civilian" tools, and things move too freely on the leather belt.

I really like the grommets on the pistol belt, they limit the distance objects on the belt travel, I want that knife to stay on the side where I put it. But all of the sub-2" wide military belts I find are grommetless and the buckles are flimsy or damage the belt itself. I also prefer cloth to nylon, thats just personal preference.

I found that belt but again 2". I am not planning to wear this through belt loops, it will merely sit on the waist or hips.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I have one of those belts and i agree almost everything moves on them so what i did was grab some of the paracord i had laying around nd gutted it so that all i had left was the shell. then i just used this fed thru the grommets to atach anything and keep it in place. also if you are carying alot (i carry 6 pods on mine) you might consider suspenders as they also give you atach points. get a color of cord to matc your belt and nobody will notice.

Have you looked into the military surplus stores in your area?
I would definately look inot doing that, as I've been meaning to grab myself a belt as well.

You want the leather belt off a hammer/tool pouch. Sometimes they're notched, sometimes not. Some models have clips to keep items from sliding.

Look at the hardware store.

Somethun like This (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml?originalValue=belt&L2=Tool&operator=prodIndexRefinementSearch&L1=Belts%2C) or This (http://www.mcmaster.com/) (do a search for "tool belt"). There's plenty of models and designs out there and you're bound to find something you like.

Good luck.

Good stuff, and despite being nylon, should be what you need.
