Hey, i've been trying to get ahold of Brad at Paintball Maxx in Houston, but they are currently closed for some family emergency. Anyone know what is going on there or when they will re-open?

Why do I know that name?! I can't remember why I know that name, but I swear I've heard of him! Ugh, it's buggun the hell out of me!
Who is he? Before I go insane! (too late...)
i think hes gonna finish up all work then close up
I'm not sure what Brad is doing. I know Jason is now working with another company in the Houston area. Maybe Brad will visit the site himself to give an update.
Was there something he had of yours? I might be able to get a messae to him or Bill if you had equipment there.

Perhaps your thinking of Brian K Hestle (or some such) from Fight Club, thats what I think of every time I see Brads name.

My brother gave him my little brothers eclipse splash automag to make into a pmag in April. He said two to three weeks to machine it for the pump. He gave numerous excuses some that sound allot like the excuses he gave to other people (there is some pbnation thread about it). He also said the mag had level 10 and need level 7 bolt. Sent a level 7 bolt some time late May. We finally got the mag back a week or two ago but without the L10 bolt. I told my bother it would probably be impossibe to be back and he was probably lucky to get the marker back.
oh and my brother likes the mag allot with the pump on it.

Doober...when you go by the shop, tell him Roger in Japan says what's up. And try to find out who Jason is working for, and if there is a way to get in touch with him.
I spoke to Brad a couple of weeks ago, and he confirmed that they are closing. I assume that he may continue working on customs, because he is taking all the machines with him, but I don't know for sure. And Jason is working for another guy. According to Brad, Jason will be in charge of online sales for this guy (Brad didn't tell me who it was). It sucks they are closing. I bought just about everything I own from Paintball Maxx, and if I recall correctly, I bought the first emag the sold. They are a great bunch of guys there. I was really disappointed to hear that they were closing. They had great customer service, not like those jerk-off stores that I read about in one of the other threads.

He botched my Phantom pump when he converted it to a pistol. I had to enlarge the hole in the slide and fix an air leak on the hose. It still is not quite right, but it does pump without sticking. {Still nowhere near as smooth as an original Phantom}
Brad's talented, but I would not call him "great".

Man, that's really sad that they're closing. The writing was definitely on the wall when they relocated though. The first time I saw the new place I knew it was only a matter of months. I'll have to stop by & take them out to lunch.
The greatest loss of Maxx is the knowledge transfer. That was the one place you could go in Houston (when it was on Beltway 8) and there would be guys just hanging out, and you could hang out, and learn an incredible amount just from shooting the shizz.

When was the last time you were there? I was there last week and they were closed (weekday, business hours). I've called and left a few messages, no answers.
I didn't start the thread for people to berate Brad, just trying to contact him or find out what is going on. The man does good work, but yeah, he is overworked and you will be waiting.

yeap, it's true. Paintball Maxx is closed down. Nine years and it's come to an end. I was the original owner and stayed there for 3 other owners over the years. The last couple years were rough, with the move of the shop to a smaller, but still not cheaper for some reason, shop and all. Between the crappy economy and distributors and manufactures letting the internet run the show, we just couldn't make it work out in our favor. I personally put a ton of money into a company that wasn't mine and I doubt I'll ever see a dime of it again. Shop still owes me paychecks from before SPE.
I got my stuff out right as the PHOG went down, so I couldn't say anything. Sorry guys. I have all the custom stuff with me so it's safe and sound, no worries there. I'm finishing it up as we speak. Sadly, the machines are at my dad's house almost an hour away. Today I'm working on getting a new job (Gander Mountain, in the firearm section) but tomorrow I'll be back down there, working on stuff.
If you have guns or parts with me, they are going out as I finish them. Pm me for my phone number if you need to find me fast or just email.
Sorry guys. We tried.
Recon, I have your gun, I'll deliver it to your house this week. Dad's house in just down the road from you.
Tim, I put the bolt back in the box with your gun, but I'll get you another one this week. Email me your address again. Sorry

Best of luck in the future.

Sorry to hear about PBM closing down.. I was in the same boat as you about 2 years ago I was with a shop that was doing great and then the internet revolution happened and we tanked... tanked hard..
Glad I got two of your guns when I did.. I love my SHO and REALLY love my SC sniper that you did.. supposedly it was one of your first..

I was about 16 or so when I first played Paintball. I went to a field in shorts and a short sleave shirt and we rented Pro Carbines. I was hooked. So i bought the almighty Brass Eagle Stingray II. Soon after that i upgraded to a Spyder Compacy, that i wish i still had but that is another story :p. I scowered the web and came across the Maxx site. So i signed up on the forum and began to talk to the poeple there. One day Matt, know to the Paintball world as Manu Manu, told me to come on up there and hang out. So i made the close to hour trek and had my first experience at maxx. Matt was cool as hell. Then this long haired guy walks from the back. He is wearing some sort of t-shirt and i am sure his AO hat. He introduces himself as Brad Nestle, the airsmith at Maxx. After hanging with the guys i went home and began to search for his work. I soon came across many pictures and stories of the infamous Q. The next thing i know a scenario is coming up, Matt, Brad, and the rest of Team S.W.A.T. invite me to play with them. After that game i was hooked. So i sold the Spyder and picked up my first Phantom. I began to really get to know Brad and he helped me piece "Paine" together, showed me what works and what doesn't. To this day he still lets me bounce ideas off of him no matter how crazy. After the phantom i bought one of Brad's many headaches i'm sure, a Soverign I. We peiced 2 in to 1 and got it to work, but alas i sold it and played mostly with the Phantom. Within the last few months Brad has created me another semi, we dubbed her "Candi" and she is a mid 90s cocker with a pink duracoat, with black and stainless accents. This might be one of the last full guns to come out of the Maxx Dynasty, but not the last to come from Brad. I consider Brad to be one of my close friends and wish him the best in his ventures.

Good luck and Godbless!

So there is another Mike Smith that is not impressed with your "less than stellar" work...
I can live with that.
Never had a bad dealing with Brad. Always more than stellar work and always pleased with the finished product. Turn around time is slow when you have thousands of players wanting custom work every year. And its never the 'easy' stuff because Brads reputation preceeds him as an excellent airsmith(especially around us mag folks). I've had Brad do plenty of large and small projects and I waited my share. You know what though? I'd wait twice as long again. I don't think anybody 'found' Brad randomly looking for an airsmith or machinist on the internet; more than likely it was from word of mouth and recommendations from overly satisfied customers.
And anyone with a different opinion probably does suck pretty hard. There's always a handful of customers that make your life a little harder and the company umbrella keeps you from telling them what you REALLY think about them. Props to you bro.
Always a pleasure.

Dang...that's too bad that you're closing down.
You did some work for me milling my Retro Valve and working on my autococker. Things didn't go great as far as having to send them back and forth and the cocker still doesn't work  ...but, I thought you were great to deal with, the prices were fair, and you always got back with me right away. I guess I'll have to find another cocker tech to try and fix my possessed cocker. And hopefully there are still a couple people out there that will still mill Retro valves for the ULE trigger upgrade.
Good Luck Man...try to look on the right side, spending less time fixing markers will give you more time to actually play! :headbang:

you could always try spaming paintball max'es forums http://www.paintballmaxx.com/discuss/index.php?PHPSESSID=9bf5b2ed29616a59a6350d8094c199 c8;www
but there has only been porn spam activity in the past couple months so it may be a dead end.

Hey, i've been trying to get ahold of Brad at Paintball Maxx in Houston, but they are currently closed for some family emergency. Anyone know what is going on there or when they will re-open?
I'm looking for him also. He has my autococker and all the upgraded parts for over 3 years now.
