Thats probably Gateway Paintball, if your local Im sure you know it.

Yes I agree paintball is way manlier then shooting at each other with little clear colored plastic pistols. Oh Im sorry, Plastic rifles too. If someone has a metal airsoft gun, I appologize, because it automaticly makes it way manlier.

Go figure :wow:

I was there too. That event was the last straw that turned me off to tourney ball as well.

For me it came down to the fact that we were paying X amount of dollars to go all the way out to San Diego to play at best 32-40 mins of paintball. Assuming 4 or 5 mins per game, and only the eight games not counting semi-finals or finals.

Not to mention the fact that after hearing myself on tape playing a few games, I realized that there was no way I wanted my kids around watching me play and hearing me play. LOL ... not a good thing. The game wasnt any fun anymore ... and I had started playing back in 1991.

I still hang around here just lurking and saying something every now and then LOL.

Im hearing it all over. Players whove been around for 10+ years saying the game isnt fun anymore. Obviously these players, including yourself, have gone through the many changes that paintball has seen since 1991. So it isnt that we are the "old guys who dont like change".

Good to see you are still hanging around. There are lots more lurkers these days, understandably.

so how do you go about making it fun again?

Find whats fun about it, and do that. Refuse to play any other way that isnt fun.

QFT, thats what I do, its just that I hear so much from people (at least on here) about how it used to be fun. I still manage to enjoy myself. Having AO days and still having friends that play is 75% of it though, and maybe thats were other people are losing out.

thats why i haven't played in a year plus, all my friends have stopped playing and we had such a horrible turn out to the last AOVA day. just sucked. I still want to play from time to time, just end up having better stuff to do. although i am seriously considering airsoft.

Most AO days were the best. We used to get 20+ show up at the AO SoCal get-togethers. It allowed us not to have to play with anyone but our group.

Would have been nice if we could get those kind of numbers every weekend.

Good times.

you're in Socal? we had about 14 at our last socal day, and have a list now of over 20 some people. You should show up at the next SoCal:AO day. I think half of us might be shooting pumps too. :headbang:

so how do you go about making it fun again?

I started playing in 1991.

Now, since I'm over 50, I play 5-7 scenario/big games each year.
This next year, I plan on hitting several Viper games, including the MOUT game over Memorial Day, Racine WI, and a few Dollack games in FL.

That's how I keep it interesting.

also I have played since the mid 80's with pgp's and pumps. just recently got into the mechanical semi's (5 years ago) and electro's (last year). I Still love the game! Nto much of a speedballer though I do play from time to time, but I like going out with a group of friends usually 15-20 of us that head out, and basically play non stop paintball for 3-4 hours in the bush.

And no real point to the thread but what the heck does QFT stand for? I see it everywhere and the only thing I can think of is Quit Flibb'in talking????

i agree, i've been in/out of the game since i started in '93 with a pmi trracer. started playing regularly again this past summer (mostly speedball) and had a short stint with an electro, but it just didn't feel right, so i'm back to playing pump and it brought the fun back for me.

if i play semi these days, it's with my minimag :D

Nah, just make the legal age limit needed to play 21 and we would be doing a little better :D

All this talk of pump :-) Ive been saying its time for me to resurect the old outlaw pump games again. My favorite gun has and always will be my Sniper II. (for those of you youngsters, thats a pump autococker)

Wow, paintballers and airsoft players arguing about which one is more "manly" or whatever.

Isn't that like the chess club calling the DnD group nerds?

I like paintball, but umm... guys.

I started in '92 at SC Village Rec fields - moved to Arkansas and play tourney speedball from 1996 nonstop. i remember when everyone was talking about that new game format called "Speedball" - now i can't stand it, no, let me rephrase that: i can't stand the attitudes that go with speedball players. it is fed, i believe by the stupidity of PBNation and the ignorance of simple history and physics. that is why i have shifted from there to AO, plus ever since i bought that $400+ minimag in 1995-1996 i was in love - i still shoot it. i just wished i would have kept my old VM-68.

Down with the paintball soap opera! hence the name Cynikal!

I also dislike the attitude that is now considered the "norm" of speedball/tourney style players. If I ever caught one of my players acting like that (cheating, yelling, temper, arguing), they would be done for the day.
