View Full Version : Why I shouldn't use a quick connect on my tank

I knew it was a possibility that if I put a quick connect on my tank reg for my remote hose that I could accidentally put high pressure air into the output stage. But I was confident that I would not make that mistake, and I was right. However, I was tired and a helpful soul offered to air up my tank while I was still wearing it. I had already pulled my remote off to get the tank out of the harness. I heard a whoosh, an 'oh, I see' and THEN my tank filling. I didn't think much of it until I turned on my reg and it blew out the vents. The high pressure wrecked the output stage oring and gauge, and the high volume (velocity) venting sucked the seal out of the poppet (max-flo inline); this part might have been preventable.

New poppet, new gauge, and new oring to get back up. The nice thing is that the max-flo inline has a lot fewer parts than the max-flo manifold reg (from the manual). It doesn't like to adjust under pressure, which I have never had a problem with the flatline reg.

My remote line is now screwed into my reg.
