Nitro Tank Question

Excuse the simple question but...

I just got a PMI 45/3000 tank and the field only filled it so that the guage read 2000. Is this normal? I thought it would be at 3000 as that is the capacity of the tank. Also the guage goes up to 4000. Why is that?

It depends on a couple of things.

1- they were low on Nitrogen or compressed air. they could only fill it to 2000psi


2-they filled it too fast and by the time you looked at the guage the tank had cooled down, thereby dropping internal pressure.

Your gauge goes up to 4000psi, not unusual, gives you an idea what the pressure is should the burst disk/safety ever fail and you need to vent the tank quickly before something bad happens
