Since its been mentioned, I am planning a St.Louis/Southern Illinois AO meet. We did one last spring at Xtreme paintball in Millstadt Ilinois, about 20 minutes from downtown St.Louis. I am hammering down a date this week and will post it up in meet and greet. Last year we had 14 people. We hope to have alot more this year!

Yeah, it sucks for you guys, you are in between st. louis and chicago, so you get no respect. The problem with having it down there? We're 17 and it's a 6 hour drive if you don't make any stops.

Ill tell you what, as the Field Manager of Fox Paintball (Fox River Games), we can set up one sweet *** deal for all AO members if we do it at our field. And I dont think Tom would have any problem with that, seeing that we do have 250 Automag's for our rental guns, that the owner of Fox use to work for AGD, and that the two companies have supported each other over the years.
If this happens, why not make it an entire weekend thing? A two day party at the field, camping, cookouts, campfires(You get the jist of it)? If the AO'ers want this, I can make it happen. It would be a private party for AO'ers only.

It sounds like they're settling on Fox River, which is fine, because it's a GREAT field. But, you do know we have a field practically right here in bloomington, right? Well, technically it's in Funks Grove, but it's like, 10 minutes away. As far as I'm concerned it's the best field around until you get to Chicagoland. Chillicothe might rival it, but I haven't been there in years. Anywho, we ARE the most centrally located, so I just want to throw out Sudden Impact (funks grove) as a possible spot for future Illinois get togethers.

But seriously, fox on the 17th is just dandy for me, it's enough time to plan, we don't need to camp, and it's two hours from where i'm at, and there's a better chance of tom coming, so i'm completely fine with that. I think it's time i've tried a field that's further away.

Oh, and tom, if you do come, i've got a 68 classic you can use if you really want, but i'm sure there's someone with a better spare mag.

Yea I have been there before drove out there to buy a DynaFlow from BackToIntegrity. It’s a nice field, but it took almost 2 hours to get there from Aurora

As for camping? We do have a building in the back that is not being used. No heat, but it can house a good 20-25 people. Several pavillions too.

Oh yeah I know about Funks Grove. Went there all the time back before I quit playing. Use to work for John actually, back when he had an indoor in this old warehouse in downtown B-town. Too bad I haven't talked to him in like 4 years. :(

another strike against your day is that ALOT of ppeople from Il. are coming up to Sams big game. we are talking 600-700 people on saturday and 300-400 on sunday.

in conclusion, sure have your AO day that weekend... but if you want a bigger turn out you should definetly have a different date

I have no problem with any dates, im ALWAYS at the Fox field. My only concern is locking in a date in time. Spring and fall is our busiest time, but the private games dont start filling up until a month or so beforetheir scheduled date. So, we still have plenty of time, I just want to do this right. We book up to 10 private games each day, and will be adding 2 - 4 new field this year on our property.
The only bad date at Fox would be May 12th. Thats our first all day Scenario Event of the season. This will be treated as a private game. This way we can do what we want, when we want, and where we want. Im planning on some good old woodsball games, plus im going to throw in a few of our more popular games reserved for private games, and possible some mission based games (Like our popular MINI Scenarios).
Lets do this big so we can make it an annual event.

Ok good, but the only date we wouldn't come was the Sam's Big Game date, and we aren't trying to fight ur dates, so there is no need to say stuff like "And if don't want to pay on those dates dont come." Thats the same days as the 24 hr scenario game at CPX. PRobably not a good idea to try and compete with that. I knwo i REALLY want to be at the AO day, but im not missing one of the only 24hr games i get to go to this year. well, which is it then? Apr 28/29? sometime in may? Its gonna be hard to get a day where everyone is totally happy, so the best we can do is just pick a day and go with it. I for one could care less about CPX or anything else. If we get a big enough group who cares. On the flip side - WOULD it be a bad idea to get a big AO group for a mini scenario? I've heard good things about the ones that fox puts on.

Either way I'm in as long as I have the weekend we choose off.

It is probably going to come down to just picking a date. It's going to be really hard to avoid all the other events going on. Especially with so many other big fields that are fairly close to Fox. OK, heres the deal. May 19th & 20th is etched in stone and will be reserved for a private game through Fox. The cost will be $20 per player, per day and its BYOP. Fox will give a great paint discount for this group at the field. All players wanting to play in this MUST pre register for the game. You can play on Sat, Sun, or both, its up to you.
There will be a sign up sheet at the Fox Field too. If you sign up but dont pay, then you are not signed up. Payments can be made directly to PYROMAN at the field (Im there throughout the week and every Sat & Sun), or to DevilSpawned (PM him for his info). Fox will take cash, credit cards, or checks at the store or field. If signing up at the Fox store, PYROMAN must be contacted first. Waivers can be picked up at the Fox Field or downloaded at WWW.FOXPAINTBALL.COM. Having waivers filled outin advance saves time at the field (More play time)
If you decide to wait until the day of the game to sign up, then there will be a $10.00 up charge ($30 total per day) and you will not receive any discounts. This price is based on 50+ players and may change if we dont get our minimum. I will contact everyone regarding this if it happens.
This will be a two day outing. Camping is available for free (Please pick up after yourselves). Two days of PAINTBALL, PARTY, and SWAP MEET. Bring your guns & gear. Show off what you have, or trade for what you need. This is not a dealers convention, so please keep that in mind. We have 250 AUTOMAG rentals available at the Fox Field if anyone needs a rental (Low $10 rental fee, not bad for a MAG).
The earlier players sign up and the more players we get, the more we can do for you at the field for setting up games. We can make food arrangements and will add that offer as time gets closer for a small additional charge, which will be optional. This tourney would Definately be for AO private gamers only. And I have no problem with it being in the woods if we cant get a hyper or airball field reserved for it.

I think Aggravated Assault has the best idea for the tourny play. Lets keep that part of the days events reserved for night play at the ULTIMATE AIRBALL field under the lights on Saturday night. We dont open up the night play to anyone until June, so the field will be available to play on.
Reffing wont be a big deal. Im sure we can find a few "Impartial" judges to Ref it. Whenever camping is involved at the field, we always have Staff camp over at the field too. This keeps everyone where they should be and so things dont get out of hand. The regular Woodsball play would stop when Fox closes for the day, but the lit up speedball field is definitely in play. If you havnt played under our "Temp lights", be sure to bring a yellow or amber lense, it helps tremendously.
Keeping all players together at all times will be a plus in keeping this organized. I have no problem if players want to split and do half woods/half speedball, as long as their with a Ref and everyone knows whats going on. We just cant have "Rogue Players" off playing by themselves.
So play all day in the woods on Sat, tourny style on speedball on Sat night, some kind of an organized meal on Sat night, breakfast Sun morning, and play a MINI Scenario and woodsball all day Sunday. Sounds good so far, lets keep this party rollin. Whos booking the band??(And no, I never mentioned strippers, however...)

Well, the one thing im counting on is not just the amount of AO players here in Il, but the amount of AUTOMAG users we have here in Il. I know this was originally intended to get AO players together, which will still be the case, however, I have opened this up to AUTOMAG owners as well. I do believe that Fox is still the field with the most AUTOMAG rentals of any field, and Fox does have a ton of players using MAG's at their field that would like to play in this game.
Being the Field Manager, and having my company run most of the events at Fox helps with promotions, thats where my main focus is at. I did also post this all over the web, with decent results so far.
Im not to discouraged, yet. I have run hundreds of events, and know how players are when it comes to pre registering. Its no real sweat to me. My personal comapny isnt making anything on this event, I just want to see a successful event with players I know go over well at the field I run, thats all. I work, ALOT. Im using this as my one day of STRESS RELEASE, although I will be busy making sure the Private Game players are partying their arses off.

COO, COO, COOl. I know that I can get at least 10-15 fromthe Fox field, possibly more. We can keep promoting this just the way we are, but when the time gets close, and we dont get the players needed, then we may have to drop it to a one day event. Lets keep that from happening.
From other forums I posted this on, and the players I talked to at the field, there should be 100+ sign up forthis, however, its all talk at this point.
Keep getting the word out for this. We opened it up from AO players, to AO players and MAG owners, ande now we may just add "MAG friends" as well. We all want to see alot of MAG's during this, but if your have a buddy that doesnt own a MAG and wants to play, I dont see why not. They wouldnt be involved in the Sat night tourney, and they would have to be there with a MAG owner, an AO member, or with someone that is.

Keep the names comming...as of right now 6 AOers plus 25 additional players. If we can get a few more AOers we'll be in real good shape.

Also...Lets try and get a date, like around mid april (a month before), and get all of us and our guys pre-regestered. Were opening this to AO'ers, AUTOMAG users, and friends of AO'ers and AUTOMAG users. They dont have to use a MAG during this event, however, if they come to play, they either need to own a MAG, or be with someone that owns a MAG.
There will be a special tournament at night under the lights just for fun. The tournament will be restricted to MAG's only.

OK, heres the deal. May 19th & 20th is etched in stone and will be reserved as a private game through Fox. The cost will be $20 per player, per day and its BYOP. Fox will give a great paint discount for pre registered players in this group at the field. All players wanting to play in this MUST pre register for the game no later than Tuesday, May 15th. You can play on Sat, Sun, or both, its up to you.

There will be a sign up sheet at the Fox Field too. If you sign up but dont pay, then you are not signed up. Payments can be made directly to PYROMAN at the field (Im there throughout the week and every Sat & Sun), or to DevilSpawned (PM him for his info on AOTOMAGS.ORG or PBNATION). Fox will take cash, credit cards, or checks at the store or field. If signing up at the Fox store, PYROMAN must be contacted first. Waivers can be picked up at the Fox Field or downloaded at WWW.FOXPAINTBALL.COM. Having waivers filled outin advance saves time at the field (More play time)

This price is based on 100+ players and may change if we dont get our minimum. There is a minimum player requirement of 25 pre registered players.
This will be a two day outing. Camping is available for free (Please pick up after yourselves). Two days of PAINTBALL, PARTY, and SWAP MEET. Bring your guns & gear. Show off what you have, or trade for what you need. This is not a dealers convention, so please keep that in mind. There are 250 AUTOMAG rentals available at the Fox Field if anyone needs a rental (Low $10 rental fee, not bad for a MAG).

The earlier players sign up and the more players we get, the more we can do for you at the field for setting up games. Concessions are available at the field, however, we may offer a special food deal for pizza Sat night, and breakfast Sun morning for only $10 per player.If we do a pig roast, the food fee may be higher.

Were working on a band right now. All of the above listed items are based on 100 players minimum. The more we get, the more we can do for this event.

Its very difficult to try to post updates, make plans and arrangements, and prepare for an event when we have no idea on how many players will be there. Its still early, but I have zero people signed up. Now dont get me wrong, many have said they will be there, and im sure this event will happen, but money talks. The owner of Fox has been very good about letting me run with this game without having to put a deposit down. Im not trying to sound discouraged, but in my many years of business in this industry I have come to know that the only way to run a great event is to be organized. I just want to ensure that everyone that comes out has a great time so we can make this an annual game at Fox each year. Heck, I may even try to get into a game or two (If I can remember who I loaned my E MAG to three years ago, LOL). Paintball tank anyone? Alot better response this weekend regarding this event. I have several flyers posted, and many people asking about it. My copy machine took a dump so I couldnt make up the flyers fo the cars like I wanted to for last weekend.
And sorry Oscar, I was busy on the back fields and couldnt get inside to take your registration fee. You can send it to me directly, or we can try another drop off at a later time.

I dont know if alot of you know the story behind AGD and FOX or not. The reason I was pushing to get this game at the Fox Field so bas was because of the history these two companies have together. Tim, the Owner/President of Fox (Old School SANDMAN) worked for Tom at AGD a LONG time ago. They developed a great respect for one another, and Tim, along with Tom, learned early on what it takes to survive in this insane business. After a few years of owning Fox PB, Tim asked Tom what it would take to upgrade the Fox Field rentals to all AUTOMAG rentals. They made a deal, Tom became a silent partner for a few years, and the rest is history. Fox currently has 250+ AUTOMAG rentals at their field, which nobody else has, and most of them are the original ones that were put in service 14 or so years ago. (Relaible enough for ya?)
Tim and Tom also played together on and off for years. As a player myself, I have had the pleasure of meeting Tom several times. And now that run the Fox Field, I have a great respect for Tim, as well as Tom due to the stories Tim has told me.
Where am I going with all of this? Well, if we get the two together for this event, I think a little "One on one" challenge, along with a little friendly wager, of course, would be so fitting for this event. In the 14 years that I have played at Fox, I have never seen Tim play at his own field. On the other hand, I have been at several events that Tom was at, and never seen him play as well.
So someone needs to see if Tom will be able to make this event. Just a nice added bonus for us all. If someone can do this, Ill have no option but to be forced into making Tim come down and play in this event with us too.
Im going by history, story telling, and alot of quotes with the above story. Im sure most are fish stories, but isnt that what paintball is all about? Campfires and braggin rights.
So lets keep this thread alive so we can make this party happen.

The dates are finalized to May 19th & 20th. Saturday is the best value for your money as far as play time is concerned. Many different types of woodsball games during the day from 9am to 5pm. Sat night will be the MAG tourney under the lights. So the tournament is an added bonus for Sat night.
Sunday will be more woodsball play starting at 9am. Im going to throw together a MINI Scenario during the day on Sunday just for this group, and then we will finish once again with standard Woodsball until 5pm.
FREE camping on Friday and Saturday nights. And the $10 food deal for 2 meals is only good if you register for both days.
So to sum up your question, no, there will not be a tourney on Sunday, just Woodsball.

Well, some good news and some bad news. Good news; Im still interested in setting up this event. Bad news; Still not one player has registered.
Theres not much more I can do for this event to get players to come out. The fee is as low as it can possibly get, great discount on paint, free camping, free MINI Scenario (Which normally carries a hefty fee), Free tourney under the lights (Again, normally has a fee), cheap meals, and alot of set up time as an organizor. Trust me when I say that im not shocked by this, just very disapointed if this doesnt happen.

My company, SPP, will be hosting a 3 man Young Guns tourney at the end of this month and an all day Scenario event on May 12th, both at Fox PB. These two events will be taking up a chitload of my time and my employees time. If this AO day is to happen, I need to know so I can get everything set up with the spare time I do have.

This isnt looking good guys. This thread was started on February 28th. Its now April 23rd, and the event is less than a month away. As of this time, I still have 0, thats 0 playes registered for this event. Its gonna take names and money in order to make this event happen. And if its the price thats holding you back, well, then ill have to suggest buying a hackey sack for $2.99.
If anyone was at Fox last weekend, you will know what im talking about. THE PLACE WAS PACKED!!! There is a limit on how many private games can take place per day at the field, and I cant hold a spot with playes just saying they will be there.
Now thats on Fox Paintballs end. On my end, I have ALOT on my plate. Being an X clown and all, I can juggle alot at one time. I cant, however, pre plan for an event that may not happen. And throwing everything together last minute sucks for the organizer, and makes for a really crappy event for the players. SPP (My company) has 4 huge events planned for May, PLUS, working a killer full time job (My job is paintball, how bad is that?? LOL)
So, this will be the "LAST CALL" for this event. If I dont have 20 players signed up by this weekend, then I will be stepping away from this event. Thats not to say the event cant still go on, its just that I will no longer be in charge.

Im assuming that your coming down with some buddies for the open game or for a private game, correct? This IL AO event is being set up as a private game. Fox does not allow open game players, other private games, or team practice to combine play.
Your more than welcome to come over and hang out with us between games. This will also be a mild setup of a swap meet. Players are encouraged to bring their Mag stuff with them to see who has what, and who wants what.
If your planning on playing with the AO group, then you would have to pay the additional fee, sorry.

Things are looking up. I did receive payment for 6 players forthe AO event today, for both Saturday and Sunday. Keep those reg's a rollin. This will give me an idea on what to plan for.

Heres the deal;
This started out as a nice little "Meet & Greet" throw together game that nobody could decide on where to plan it at. As an event organizor, I kind of took the reigns and everything took off like wildfire. Awesome suggestions, great ideas, 2 day event, Mag tourney under the lights, etc.
I have been able to hold this spot at the Fox field up to this point. It seems that this thread (Along with the idea of an event) has died. I have pushed this as hard as I could on my end, on the net, in person, and at the field.
Right now, I have 6 players that have registered for this event, and we were expecting over 100. That day will be booked solid with private games at Fox, and adding a 6 player game to one of those spots while bumping a potentially larger group just isnt ging to cut it. (10player minimum on all PG's at Fox)
I really wanted this game to happen, and hope it still does, however, I am officially washing my hands of this event. Someone else will need to step up and take charge. I will help whoever wants to take over, but this needs to be done ASAP. Someone else will need to be the "Event Organizer" and set this game up through Fox Paintball. I have all the information that will be needed for the new Organizer.
I also have the payment from the 6 players that have registered for this event. This money is 100% refundable if the event does not happen. The person taking charge from here on out can use this money as a deposit to hold the 19th and 20th as a Private Game reservation at Fox.
I apologise for this, but I have way to many other large events that I need to focus on through SPLATTERZONE PAINTBALL PROD and I cannot run a last minute event. These games take planning, preparation, and organization and I feel that if I have to throw all of this together at the very last minute that this event will not be the event that everyone wants this event to be.
PM me or send me an e mail with any questions. If nobody steps up to take over as the Organizer, the money for these 6 players will be refunded on the day of the event was to take place.

I just wanted to post that this event has officially been cancelled. Its a shame that we couldnt get more AO players in here in Illinois involved in this event. I have had a few calls this week, but pre registration is always the key to any event.
All refunds have been issued to the players that did pre register. Im still all for hosting this event, possibly this fall, however, we would need a much earlier commitment from players for any future event.

Well, I was at the Fox Field all weekend, and as sad as this may seem, I did not have one person come up to me and ask me about the IL AO day that was to happen last weekend. I had a few Staff people ask, but that was it.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, even with all the hooooopla talk about holding this event was just that, talk. Is the AO gang dyeing off, or was this just a bad idea from the get go?? Sorry it didnt work out for us. This has brought a small tear to my eye.

No it was great idea. The problem, as i have said before, was the fact that all the important info got buried on like page 3 of this thread. And even then, you had to KNOW it was there and where to look. For the average magger that may have wanted to come they just couldnt find the info they needed. Its no ones fault. Some one just should have made a thread that stated the what when where and how of it all. I am 100% certain we could do it and do it rocking again. Just with better "thread" planning this time.

If you go back and read this thread as someone who didnt know what was going on its near impossible to figure out which part is the planning and which is the definite. At least until page 3 but again, you cant promote something if people cant find the info. Its not Pyro's fault. He did everything he could do, from his end, to make this happen. One of us, myself included, should have made the proper info thread and tried to have it stikied. Or, at the very least, bumped.


it WILL happen though. especially since i just bought an emag.
