I want to start messing around with annodizing at home and am not sure where to get the required sulfuric acid? I'm sure its dangerous and thats why its not readily available. Anyone know where to get this stuff? Thanks

Battery electrolyte from any auto parts store. Mix it 50/50 with distilled water.

Out of curiosity, what sort of power source do you plan on using?

I have a battery charger, but Im open to any suggestions. I went to pepboys and they said they only sell Battery WATER not acid? Same stuff as your saying?

car batteries (if they are lead acid) have a 35%/65% mix of sulfuric acid/water mix as an electrolyte. so if you are willing to crack open a battery, that's the electrolyte you are looking for.

Battery water? I have no idea... I went to autozone and I bought staight up battery acid.

You might want to upgrade from the battery charger as well. It's fine for practicing and messing around with it, but you won't get the same results you would if you were to use a controlled current, adjustable volt, adjustable amp power source.

You should go to the anodizing section on PBN. There's actually alot of useful information there.

I am not familiar with industrial controls, the reason I asked is b/c I work for a power supply company and I might be able to get you what you need. So you need a 24vdc supply with a square wave output?
Visit my company site and see if you see something that will work.
