Just wondering if the drop kick with lets say a 68/4500 tank is comfortable resting against your shoulder. I know it's a personal preference, but i just wanted to get some input . If anyone is using that set up try and get a pic up on here i'd like to see it ...maybe even a pic of it against your shoulder too.

btw ..i'm trying to find an ASA and/or drop to throw on the chimera, that's what this is about. Anyone have an asa w/rail or drop for sale shoot me a pm (i know that should be in the b/s/t, but just wanted to add it in here.)

I like mine....

It's the first two pics. But there is also a pic of a NDZ rail mount directly on the bottom of a Chimera of mine. I really like the tank placement with the ASA mounted directly on the bottom of the frame.

Oh, and the new Smart Parts micro max-flo fits a NDZ drop-kick perfectly.......

Since the Chimera is a vert frame, mounting the asa right on the bottom i guess would give you more of a forward feeling than a standard 45. I've been playing with a drop for about 7 years, i feel retarted when i shoot someones gun that doesn't have one that's why i dunno if i want to mount something right on the bottom or just go with a drop again ...i like the look of the asa right on the bottom of the chimera thought so we'll see.

I personally don't like them. For some weird reason, having the tank on top of my shoulder like that just makes me want to pull my shoulder up. It messes up my aim and eventually it just gets uncomfortable.

But if you aren't abnormal like me, I hear they are pretty nice to have.

I have a drop kick on both my Tribal and my 'Mag. I absolutely LOVE it. It feels so natural. It really does allow you to pull the gun closer to your body. It also allows you to take some of the weight off of your arms and rest it on your shoulder. I don't have any pics, but once I get back to my home in Japan, I will take a pic of my Tribal (my Mag is on it's way to Tunaman for a tune-up) and post it for you.

thanks for the input ....does the tank have to rest on your shoulder? say you drop it so it's resting against your shoulder or in your armpit like a tank normally would ...would the gun sit to low to shoot ...i dunno i like the look of it i'm considering getting one

You'd have to drop it pretty low to get under your shoulder level, or even at the same level. I find the position it is to be very comfortable. Occasionally I have my mask rub up against it, but that's if I try to get really tight..........

You could probably rest the back of the tank against your shoulder. But if you try to place the tank in your armpit, it will probably be hard (or impossible) to aim well.

I've been using the FBM Thorn Drop, similar to the NDZ in that its an angled drop, but also includes a drop forward. I really like the feel of it, pulls the gun much closer to my body. The biggest advantage for me is using it to shoot off hand, as you can really hold the marker right in the middle of your chest/mask and just switch shooting hands, makes it easier to aim with my off hand.

yeah i was actually looking at the thorn and stiletto today, i think i may like it better because it actually drops it down and forward. I don't know how much of a difference it is compared to the drop-kick, but i think i may like the feel or the stiletto or thorn better.

I have one on my ION.

I like it with the 45/4500

I DO NOT LIKE IT with the 68/4500

Personal preference of course...

i have a 68/45, what are you using ..ndz or the stiletto? the 68 makes that much more of a difference?

I am using the NDZ one. And also too, I have mine so that it is tilted down away from the gun. It is not much of a difference, but has an odd feel to it with the bigger tank. I have a little short flat rail coming to try that out.

I don't suppose anyone has a picture of a Y-grip with the Thorn drop on it? i'd very much like to see what that looks like as i'm thinking about getting one for my y-grip.

also, i know very little about accessory compatibility, does the thorn drop fit with a CP ASA?

EDIT:

ok tell me what you think, the first picture is original, the second one is the thorn drop photoshoped onto my gun.

That's a stiletto you photoshopped, but I like the way it looks. I think i'm gonna go with that. Also The asa that kid has on his ion isn't an on/off it looks like an old ANS ...Figure that you would save maybe an inch by putting a newer on/off on that drop

I love mine. never tried to play with it anywhere but on either of my shoulders. to somebody elses point it would be hard to aim and i can pretty much do what ever i want with it on my left or right shoulder.
