How do I do this? just punch out the pin?

yes, the pin will only come out of the left side (the switch side).

when you do it, put a load of masking tape around the pin hole so you dont mess up the paint job

Use something like a nail smaller than the pin itself. Tap it out gently with a small hammer or something else. Replace the trigger and tap the pin back in place gently. It should go out pretty easy and vice versa. If you need to apply alot of force, somethings wrong.

So just to confirm, before I go whatcking away at the wrong side again, the side I put the tip of the nail on is the side that the yellow pin is on?

Yeah, The side the battery interuptor pin is on is the side to tap out your pin.

Make sure your selector switch is out of the way on the other side, otherwise when you drive the pin through, you'll break off the little plastic selector switch.
