Ok, I shot around a case of paint through my new Mag, and I experienced bolt sticking about 4 or 5 times. According to this forum, I need to put in a longer spacer/carrier in the power tube. I thought I could do that, but it seems that I can't really tell them apart. I would like to know if those little rings on the carriers offer some clue as to their size.

At any rate, I pulled out the valve body and took the tip off of the power tube, and pulled out the carrier. I thought maybe that if I compared the carrier side-by-side with some of the others that maybe it would get easier... mmm, nope, not really. There were also a couple of shims in there that I just decided to leave out for the time being. This is an X-valve/Level 10 btw.

A couple of questions... would adding another shim fix the problem? Heck, I've also got these other two bolt springs that came with the marker, and I have no idea why I would use them other than to force the bolt back with more force (ie. fixing the bolt sticking problem), though I'm sure that it would then require more force to propel the bolt forward against the added tension.

I guess I understand why a stiffer/longer spring is not the answer. I do not understand why adding a shim wouldn't work. In fact, I don't even understand what those shims are doing in there to start with.

I'm sure I will be happy with this marker once I get it up and running well. Right now, I'm utterly lost.

I guess I could have made that original entry a little shorter. I think it can all be summed up in the statement "Is there an easy way to tell the carriers apart?" From what I've read on here, I need a longer carrier. A shim would add length, right? So I guess maybe I'm just being anal when I ask "Why replace the carrier... why not just add a shim?"

...Although, those shims don't seem to fit into the power tube very well. There is definitely a little room for them to wiggle, and I don't like that at all.

Regards.

Only after I micced the carriers did I realize that it was the hole that was sized differently. Sheesh!
