If you have to ask then it's not something that you can afford to have done.

As always, nice work Dan.

I'm glad to see you guys like it, this was a really fun piece to make, and it turned out well. Something about 18 Karat Gold flames on Silver just fits, like flies and dog poop. Ok, bad comparisson.
This is the only one of its kind, and it goes out to a special guy. On behalf of AO, I'd like to thank Jay for all his contributions and help over the years.
Keep at it Jay! Your trigger goes out Monday.
Later,
Dan@Triggernomics

Did you make that entirely freehand on your jeweler tool thing?

However you did it that is one nice trigger.

No, this is not a carved piece. The main shape of the trigger is made up of two halves, back and front. They start out as flat sheet stock and get hammered into shape using sinusoidal mandrels. Then they get fitted, soldered together, then come the flames, cut out by hand and shaped the same as the others. The back part with the pivot hole gets added last, cut out of nickel for its hardness and durability. Last but not least, polish the whole thing and you're done! Altogether it took about 18 hours to complete.
And that's that!
Dan

whats the price on something like this run by chance?

Maghog
05-19-2007, 03:08 AM
Well there's only ever going to be one of these, and the price would vary on a different design. If I were to sell a trigger like this one it would be in the 350$ price range.

so basically your only making $20 an hour before material cost.

Maghog

More like 15 bucks an hour, plus overhead, plus material. The silver isn't too bad, but a piece of 18 Karat Gold is a bit more. Technically, I could charge as much as 75$ for that alone, although it was actually somewhere around 30-40$.
Fact is, I'm not in this for the business anymore, so I can calculate it any way I want. Though I might not have rolls of gold lying around, this little bit isn't going to kill me either. The time is something I'm glad to spend, a miniscule portion of the time I put into the guns. It's nice to see something get finished within a couple of weeks instead of a couple of years.
I hope it serves its purpose well, and that's all that really matters to me.

$15 an hour isn't squat for making that.

Nice man, nice! The trigger can really set off a gun- I know it did on my Tunamax. I always loved the same color anno of the Euro X's on the trig's, but your's takes it to a different level!
