I recently had a gun which got some machining work on it. I wanted to get it done close by and not ship it off. I got the gun back after it was machined. I got the slot on the side of the 10 round tube expanded so I could change the cocking handle. I was pretty happy because it only cost me $40 for an hour of machining. I was happy until I got home and realized severe scratching on the NICKLE finish. I'm guessing that the machinist scraped the finish on the work table which was full of metal shavings. I called up the guy and he accused me of doing it myself. I wouldn't screw up a $200 finish to get my money back. I also realized that the part which was machined was cut crooked. I have pics of the gun before the work and am wondering what I should do. Should I sue him in small claims court or call the better business bureau? The gun was a PPS Squall. :( The quy was a gunsmith, so I thought it would be okay. Guess not.

Lucky you got away with 40.00 and some scratches.

In the world of custom paintball work, there are people with unuseable milled bodies, botched anodizing, over polished parts, etc.... And most people have to wait 6 months to a year to get back that kind of "quality" work.

After my last custom endeavor, I think I will stick with keeping things stock and putting stickers on it to avoid the headache and heartache.

Ouch Styg, that one hit close to home.

We ain't all like that.

You might wait a year on me, but you won't get back a piece that has less than my very best effort in it.

You just gotta be careful who you deal with.

QFT. Unfortunately thats what happens when a non-paintballer gets a hold of your baby. They just dont understand that every tiny scratch is like a scar to us :cuss: I would just let this be one of those "lesson learned" experiences and keep it in mind when having custom stuff done in the future. You know what they say, "you get what you pay for". And with that in mind, I wouldnt let anyone less than CH touch my stuff.

A little late this time, but next time... Open it up and take a look before you leave their shop...

Hehe you get to ride this one on both sides, I saw all the anno jobs that you received back botched to hell.

And at least... when you take a year, you keep people informed, send pics f the clean shop, and the tools you are using, and can be found if anyone needs to yell and complain at you :)

As I said in my title... I'm a little jaded, and have a glass half empty outlook on anythign regarding custom work these days.

I'm very sure that you and your Brass didn't deserve this treatment, but what did you expect for $40?

I can't imagine how difficult it is to fixture polished nickel without scratching it even a little.

I think we need some pics.

I like to think the glass is just twice as big as it needs to be ;)

Yeah, I have been called a pestimist most of my life just because I realize that the glass is simply able to contain twice the volume of liquid currently on hand.

Anyway, I think that you should contact the BBB of your area. How did you find this guy? was he recomended? Others will try to use him and maybe need to warned of his crappy costomer service and bad attitude.

PICS!!!

Yes indeedy, the perfect anodize job is my white whale. I feel yer pain, Ahab, I truly do.

And I certainly understand the jaded outlook as well, I think I pissed off Rick at Precision PB with the way I interrogated him before I would send parts for a test batch. It appears I lucked out and missed their meltdown by shear dumb luck and procrastination. Thank God for small miracles I guess. :ninja:

No, it is just two times larger than it should be...;)

Quality craftsmanship in nearly any industry is hard to come by. Cabinet makers, master carpenters, machinists, etc. Hard to find a craftsman who provides exactly what you need today...

Do you guys realize how little power the BBB has? Basically none.

yeah, and when you tell them its over $40 they are going to chuckle. No offense. Seriously though, just let it go. I know it sucks but when it comes down to it you contracted him knowing he didnt have paintball marker experience. In the end you can only blame yourself for trying to save a buck on your beloved marker that deserves better  Go with somebody more reputable next time.
