Mags have average gas consumption.

What barrel are you using?

How does the paint fit the barrel?

What velocity are you shooting at?

A few things can make a HUGE difference in gas consumption. You should be getting around 700-900 with a good setup.

how would you go about making a good setup?

First I need to know what barrel you are using, how hot out it is, what you initial velocity reading was, what paint you are using, and the bore size of your barrel. Also the barrel length. These are ALL factors in how many shots you are going to get. In a 68 ci 3k crossfire, I would expect (in my setup, weather, and paintballs) to get around 1100 shots. I get 700-800 in my 45ci. 800 was on a 65 degree day, I almost pissed myself when I realized how many shots I was getting, compared to what I was expecting (500 shots).

You also need to rememeber that your tank will be warm for about 30 minutes. If you fill, gas-up and chrono within that time, you will eventually be shooting +10 fps or more (I dont really know how much, but I went +20fps when it was 70 degrees in the morning, and 82 in the afternoon) than your initial velocity, which lowers the amount of shots you get.

Seems to me you are getting a rediculously low amount of shots and need to check up on the paint you are using (its possible u are using .690 bore paint with .684 barrels, this is not good). If this doesnt help, get your gun checked, something is wrong; 600 shots out of 68ci 3k is crazy.

You want inneffiecent guns...try the stock Matrix...this thing gets 1250 shots for a 88ci 4500psi tank. On a Mag, I would get MORE than that with a 88ci 3000psi tank.

Thats something ive always been curious about. Mags have a fixed dump chamber correct? For some reason I seem to get less shots dryfiring then I do when shooting paint, but you would think that wouldent happen, any explanation?

i've noticed the same thing was kaiser, but i have no clue why either
Lapco barrels are the most efficient, and are very accurate also. So would my 10" BOA snakebite with porting at the last 2" be more efficient then a minimag stock barrel? The BOA has an effective unported length of 7" while the minimag has 8" of unported length.

The barrel with the longest unported section would be more efficient.

well, ur velocity may be a little high, and mags dont use that much gas. about in the middle

11 inches of unported is ideal. Lapco = 11.5 inches with .5 inches of porting. So that works out pretty good; not too many barrels are this efficient. I have a lapco combined with a 47ci 3k crossfire tank and on a good day I get 800 shots. Normal day I get 725 +/- 25.
