Ok! Everyone likes a diffrent size barrel, I like a 10" cuz I play front and I like the little 7 inches or so only sticking out of my wonderous mag :D. What do you like? What position(front, back, mid) do you play with yours?

12 inch or shorter. Preferably 10. Ideally I'd have everything from 8 to 12, but right now I just have my 11.5" Autospirit (not that I'm not thrilled with it, but I'd like to have something shorter.)

I'm with u Major. The shorter, the better. 'thing is, most barrels have muzzel brakes, or Porting, so u need a good amount of effective barrel lenght.

10" is just right.

Like Irboddens post, I also cut down a minimag barrel to around 6 inches... so... I really dont need that extra lenght.

Yes that is true. With a 20" Barrel the balls will go 8" futher than with a 12" barrel if you measure the distance from the grip frame... :D

I prefer something between 10" - 14", I usually go towards the latter end of that prefrence.

i like a 12", not to long not to short, still has enough to sight down the barrel

I represent an up and coming paintball manufacturer, and from everything we've been able to determine, the length of the barrel is redundant past the first 8". In those first eight inches, the gas has pushed the ball to it's top velocity. The gas' charge then escapes through any porting the barrel might have and the ball loses speed from then on.
It doesn't seem to effect overall performance as long as the barrel isn't over 14". Beyond that, it just adds extra friction and could impact on velocity. This is all assuming the barrel is straight, of course, the Flatline works on a different principle by putting backspin on the ball. Personally, a 10-12" barrel is best. The less surface area (even barrel length) you show you're opponent means the less of a target he has to hit. Thanks for letting me rant.http://www.fighterxsports.com (www.fighterxsports.com)

Haven't really played with alot of different barrels, but I got a 14 now. It might be nice but I busted my nubbin the first time I tried it, didn't realize, and busted mad balls.

Why did that last part sound so dirty?

I prefer 14 inch and longer... I've used 12 and 10 inch. Personally, I can't hit squat with the little stubbie commando barrels.

Sure, they look cool as hell... but what's the advantage?

I play as tight as anyone here with a 16 inch barrel. It's a technique.

Further, you can move sup'air bunkers with a long barrel, leaving only your barrel and the side of your head exposed along the side of the bunker. Never tried it? It's a great technique.

I also can aim better with a longer barrel, I can sight down the barrel better the longer it is.

Go ahead, laugh all you want....
:)
MHO anyway.

Its true!

Playing tight is a technique!

I personally dont believe that having an 8 or 10 inch barrel will give you a more significant advantage over a 14 or 16 barrel in terms of playing tight.

There are many front players that play with 14's and still play their bunkers pretty tight.

I think that the use of a short barrel is more a placebo than it is an actual advantage. Not saying this is bad, if am 8 inch barrel makes a person feels more tight, they will most likely play more tight I guess.

I had the same idea when I had my 10" J&J 2 piece. But then when I swapped barrel to barrel, I found myself happy with my 14 Boomy. I can sight down the barrel and wrapp it around bunkers more easily.

My preference I guess.

i like shorter. i want something shorter than the Stock RT barrel but i am broke. i wouldnt mind a cut minimag barrel. i like shorter because i am accustomed to shorter stuff, it is definitly technique not equipment.
that sounds bad. i love it.

I actually like the 14" barrels. It's like a 12" on any other gun. I play front & I like to get some range & very good accuracy when I play since I dont have money for loads of paint, I like to hit it right on target. Thats what my J&J Ceramic barrel gives me. Oh yea, hey Miscue & Army, I saw you on the Pan Am Las Vegas movie on pigtv.net. I dont have cable so i dont really get a good picture, but what gun were you holding miscue???

Yeah, I'm a fan of the 10"... also, doesn't the 'Mag Manual state that an 11" barrel is the best for accuracy, or whatnot?

I'm trying a 14" Dye at the moment but my stock 10" seems to be better. I want to keep testing the 14" before I make that call.

I like 10" barrels the best. I have a black 10" DYE and it's pretty sweet. I play point / front for my team, and the shorter barrel is definitely a lot more comfortable in tight places.

12" Dye ultralight (ok barrel.. not awesome not bad)
12" dye xcel (came with "tko" package)
14" cp (dont like very much.. slowes the ball down alot)
12" squeege (never play without it, unless i were to get lvl10)

I like to play front with my stock RT barrel. I have no problem playing tight with it. I tend to stick to shorter barrels, because longer ones feel unwieldy too me, I like something I can move around really quick.

well i use the 14 in. AA that i got with my imp, it rocks, quiet, just the right length...i also play back so i can push the bunker to the side a bit so i can lean out just enough so that i dont get caught in the giant ropes of paint hurtling my way:rolleyes:

before when I would play front, I used a small 8" taso pro barrel.

i found that it was less accurate than the new 20" taso stone cold barrel I just picked up. I did a quick test run in the woods outside my house, and I love the accuracy.

while the distance seems to be the same, maybe less, i really like the accuracy. I am going to play this weekend with the new barell, ill report back and let you know how it worked out.

generally, I like to use my 8" and my 12" dye barrel.. hopefully this 20" will work out for me.

14", push those airball bunkers around!

Right now I'm using a old school 12" AA with a camo splash but I'm thinking about going down to a 10" Dye SS because the field I play at is very small barrel friendly, plus I play front so it help stay tight. but I would like to own at 14" Boomy for the supair fields.

for me, I like the 16 inch barrels, I find that the shorter the barrel the more exposed I have to be to line up a shot.
I agree with darkripper, I also play front (Ironically I played mid before and THEN i used a 14 inch)

i got a 12" freak on my impy, and its real nice for working the sup air bunkers... and then i have a 9" on my mag which i love cause i play front... and i just got a 8" for my cocker... but i havent played with it yet... but i'll probably like it... i dont bind it bein a bit loud :p

16" CP KIT (black back/black front)

- push air bunkers around.

- slide in between grooves of tube fields.

- (rec. ball) while using brush and bushes as a shield, I like to stick the tip through and give em the business end.

- easier to sight.

when i play tourny ball (i play back) i perfer to have a 10-12 inch
when i play woodsball i perfer 14 to 16 inch

FeelTheRT

depends on the gun. If it's a longer gun, say like an Angel or Timmy, i would preffer a 14" or 16". For markers that are shorter, such as Cockers and Mags, i would prefer a 16" or 18" because the overall length would be simliar of an angel or timmy with a 14 or 16.
