Back around 92/93 when new Mags were on back order for about 10 months, Earon Carter (maker of the Carter comp, Buzzard, etc.) got his hands on some of them and customized them.

The markers had site rails, expansion chambers, and some other parts that were annoed different colors (keep in mind that this was very rare in those days). I saw two of them, one polished black and one purple.

I was just wondering if any still exist?

I believe that one of the ladies over at MCB has one of the Carter Mags. It's blue if I recall correctly.

some of the guys that had custom carter mags sent them into airgun only to have all of thier non factory parts taken off and then sent back with stock stuff. I heard this from an old school hawaiian paintballer that i know. This is at the time of the of the hawaiian style z bar and before air america expansion chambers.

zbar was a rail shaped like a "z" that you put the old back bottle automag asa on and it ran from the bottom of the trigger frame forward made your bottle sit at a 45 degree angle towards the trigger frame....
I'll post pics when i have a chance: i have to dig it out of the box and put it on a mag.
picture will explain all.

^^^^^^

That looks like one of them but keep in mind I haven't seen one in 15+ years.

The grips, barrel and I think valve are new additions but that is how I remember it.

Carter was making "pretty guns" before it was cool.

Thanks

Edit

It would be a shame if they were all sent to the factory to be de carteized because the purple one I saw was sweet.

That is, at least around my circle, known as a "Luber bracket" for Matt Luber, who made these "z bars". My originally lvl 5 automag that I bought way back in 91 or so still sports one of these to this day (though my friend owns it now). Later they saw use on cockers as Team Ronin made the switch.

Matt passed away in 2002, read a bit about him here:

I don't think the term "drop forward" even existed when it was invented.

Yep that is it on the cocker!

Yep there was no such thing as a drop forward. I was trying to explain it to the masses. The guy i know,Wes, always called it a z bar. He is the one that put on on his guns(old Ronin player). . There was an APG front cover a long ago that had Ronin players that had them attached to there markers too.
Thanks for explaining it better.

Good bringing it up, I'm amazed that knowledge of this piece extends across the US! Just giving a little history about it, from what I can remember of those days ...
