I know a lot of AO are avid shooters as well as p'ballers. Anybody else exercise their Second Ammendment rights? Id love to see what AO packs!

Had this for about three years now. Best handgun Ive ever owned.

Top to bottom

1842 Springfield (repo)
69cal smoothbore

Mosin Nagat M91
Decent shape, missing the rear sight, not even sure what caliber it is. Only bought it because it was too cheap not to buy.

Ruger all weather 77/22
Stainless with a laminated stock in .22 magnum. It's fun to shoot, I like it better then the 10/22s.

Marlin 336
.32 special. 1946 production, walnut stock, mint condition, and probably the most accurate gun in my collection. Way to expensive to fire though.

Marlin 336
.30-30. Birch stocks, just a basic marlin 336. My first gun and the only gun I bought new.

Marlin Glenfield
30-30. Made in 1979. The wood is pretty beat up and part of the frame is bent. I haven't fired it yet.

Just picked up a No.4 MK1 today
http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/7263/img1344hu9.jpg

.303 British. Pretty good shape, all the serial numbers match, 1946 production but it's been re-arsoneled.

Glock 19-shown w/30rd mag
American Spirit Arms JPS 15. in .223
Rem 700 sps in 30-06 w/ Nikon 4.5-14x40 side focus mildot, some sort of fancy rings, and a harris bipod. -and yes I sit there with my calculator and play with the mildots.
rem 870 super magnum... 3.5" 00 buck :headbang:
Ruger New Vaquero in .45 colt

Oh yeah all my slings are made by a company called "the wilderness tactical"
If you are looking for a sling... this is it. Local company in phoenix. The company I got my AR from is local too... I picked it up at the actual machine shop.

I suppose that's it. I just never bothered to look it up as I need to get a rear sight, a head space gauge, and take the thing apart before I can think about firing it.

LMAO! Naw...it has taken a long, LONG time to amass these pieces. The 2nd Amendment is in place for a reason. I don't mind surrendering my rights to privacy, so long as I'm garenteed the rights to possess them.

The handguns are of a selection of various interests...some for my own personal protection, some for the wife (yes, she carries and is a splendid marksman too), the 18 yr old daughter has her favorites (that she may use IN the house as personal protection when I'm/we're not home) and is very good with them, some are for hunting and I use several for local pistol competitions (IDPA). Others were more of a "curiosity"...

Parading around in camo and tactical gear like an armchair commando=not quite as cool

And that unidentified gun is a HK USC45 carbine. Nice collection, but posing guns with knives and tactical gloves etc. just looks kinda goofy.

This is why us cops dont mess around anymore. We're obviously outgunned, and we're usually the last to know when its gun-fightin' time. I hope y'all understand, If I ever contact you, and so much as see one of these "Toys" just lying nearby, you're gonna get my gun in your face, and ONE chance to follow my directions to the letter. If such a "Toy" happens to be in your hand, plan on getting shot many many times.

LOL - you realize many many states allow us to carry these "toys" concealed with a permit? Heck, I could toss a loaded assault rifle on my back with a sling and go for a morning jog if I wanted. I love getting the looks from neighbors after range trips when I pull multitudes of firearms out of my trunk. And they thought suburbs were safe

I hope y'all understand, If I ever contact you, and so much as see one of these "Toys" just lying nearby, you're gonna get my gun in your face, and ONE chance to follow my directions to the letter. Wow, over react much? Fact of the matter is, these guys are far too financially invest in these toys to use them in a crime. Statistics will agree with me.

Some interesting responses...but you have to understand my point of view. Out here in Cali, weapons not allowed loaded & within driver's reach. Must be unloaded and secured in approved container. I've bumped into a few drivers that did not know or agree with this rule. Lucky for us both they were able to follow directions with a gun pointed at them. I deal with ALOT of people that would'nt think twice about killing me, and I must approach all contacts with this in mind. Seeing ALL these guns is a little usettling, but its good to know these kinda arsenals are out there.

Yeah, I carry loaded and chambered. If it's coming out it going to be used. I'm aware of the laws, and I'm aware of your job and the risks it carries. A weapon doesn't mean we are on a different side of the law then you. Guard yourself out there, but don't think a gun is the problem or the answer.

paranoid yeah? I have no worries about driving around with my loaded AR(nothing chambered of course), I know if im pulled over the cops would just ask me what ive been shooting. :D Shoot(no pun intended), theyd probably stop and chat about it. Exactly... stop and chat about it.
I kidd you not... A few months ago we were out late and two cops stopped to check our cars parked off the road. we saw them a ways off and just walked up loaded to the teeth with all sorts of goodies. I had my shotgun and glock on my hip. then my friends had a S&W AR-15 with a 100rd drum mag, a p-90, a m-14, and the last guy had a sig and 1911.

they hung around for about a half hour there and even shot most of them.

I understand where your coming from being in cali tho.
sad.

Did you all hear that barrett arms (the big 50cal rifles) refuse to sell or provide service or warranty of already owned rifles of any law enforcement branch in California because of californias laws against .50cal firearms in the state.

I think other gun companies should follow.

Are you sure that is true? That would be classic if all the manufacturers, dealers, etc got together and refused to sell anything to law enforcement that was not available to the public.

I've read that info about the Barrett 50 cal rifles too. Barrett felt insulted that a gun which can be owned in every other state and that has never been used in a criminal manner was banned in California due to it's media portrayal and feel-good legisation. So I guess they refuse to send ANY business to California.

Is it true? I don't know, but they can always get .50BMG rifles from other manufactures. Is it dangerous... hell yeah. But the people who have the skill to actually use 50 cal rifles to their full potential don't buy $8000 weapons to commit crimes.

a) A 1000 yard shot for a novice gun enthusiast is a tough shot... 50cal rifles are used for distances well over twice that.
b) The weapon stands at nearly 5 feet tall and weighes around 30 pounds. Poor choice to conceal or to be mobile with.
c) There aren't that many people out there with big caliber sniper rifles. Commit a crime with a rare weapon and you've just put yourself on the short list of suspects.

Law enforcement doesn't set policy but very often they are a big lobby behind local gun control measures. Then they go and say they need larger weapons. Why does a police officer have more of a right to protect himself then I do?

Per a letter by Ronnie Barrett Owner and CEO Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc:

"Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers. Therefore, since California's passing of AB50, the state is not in compliance with the US Constitution's 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency of the State of California."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1389702/posts

The police are a part of the government of California and have helped the push to outlaw this firearm even though it has not been used in a crime and is unlikely to be in the future. If you read the linked article you will see a discription of one such incident that the LADP misled government officials and the public about these weapons.

You also need to understand that this is a tactic used by groups that want to eliminate the ownership of all firearms. They start with the largest caliber and push that since it it the largest and abviously most dangerous it needs to be outlawed. But by eliminating it they have a new largest and thus most dangerous caliber that then needs to be outlawed and it continues untill they are all gone.

The kinds of criminals who could afford such an expensive item ($8000.00 and up) will most likely chose a machine gun or grenade launcher or bazooka which can legally be purchased in most states by any law abiding citizen at a similar cost. This thread has pictured similar weapons (short barreled shotguns and silencers) which use the same process to purchase.

Most criminals don't want to try robbing something using a rifle that is 31lbs and 48 to 57 inches in length. Those criminals who want to destroy something (such as an airplaine) would chose an explosive device such as a rocket launcher or grenade launcher (which can be legally purchased and some for much cheaper).

You also need to understand that the groups that want to outlaw firearms are also the enemy of paintball and are a very outspoken opponent of our sport. I have read internal doccuments of some of these groups stating that they want all toy firearms, airguns, and even cammoflage clothing outlawed as it "promotes a violent mindset".

Then maby we need to quit with all the photos of the paintguns and the like on here. They too are "ammo" for the gun controll advocates. Those same groups want to outlaw paintball and by showing what "evil", violent items you own, you give them ammo to outlaw the sport.

Or maby people need to regain their since of humor.

Hey, I get the joke. I own plenty of guns myself. But they are not toys. Especially the ones you own. Posing with all kinds of tactical gear and weapons that some people want to take away from us LIKE they are some sort of toy only gives them ammunition they want and/or need.

I understand the pride of ownership. But having an assault rifle posed with a commando knife and a pair of tactical gloves, or standing in a photo with urban cammo, a thigh holster, and a short barreled shotgun, is only going to look like trenchcoat mafia behavior to a large majority of the population. Don't come crying when they take them away...

Some claim that simply showing photos of firearms gives them "ammo". Who draws the line?

People need to quit being afraid of what the liberal anti-gun might do. It will (and is) getting to the point where the liberal element will shame people into not standing up for their rights.

I WILL NOT BE SHAMED!

And I resent being compared to "trenchcoat mafia". If there were not rules against language I would have a few choice words for you. I am offended.

PS, the shotgun has a 20" barrel and is well over the public legal length.

If you bothered to read, you'd see that I never compared you to trenchcoat mafia. I said that it might look like trenchcoat mafia behavior to some. Not me.

I couldn't give a crap if the barrel is public legal length or a controlled item you purchased legally. Frankly, I couldn't give a crap if you had minigun. It's irrelevant.

I never said not to stand up for your rights. But flaunting it isn't necessarily the smartest path to keeping our rights to own these firearms. And as far as I'm concerned, as a gun owner, I am entitled to criticize depictions of firearms that I think jeopardize our future ability to own these weapons.

You want my honest opinion. I'll be glad to give it to you. You won't like it though.

That's just it. If you show pics they will claim that you are a psycho and if you don't they claim you have something to hide. It is a no win cituation. But by showing them and that they are an item to enjoy you might draw others into it and thus enlarge the firearm holding crowd.

As for the aug. It is awsome. I do golf balls at 100 yards.

It's just an aestetic cover to make an XL magazine look prettier from the outside and have a better feel to grip with. Underneath i'm sure a normal welded 1911 extended mag. I very much enjoy my 11rnd extended mags as they are naturally. That barrel needs to be longer with that large of a combustion chamber. Your potato gun is terribly inefficient. A combustion chamber with only 100cu.in. of chamber volume running a stoichiometric mixture of propane+air needs over 12 foot of barrel with 1.5" PVC for the barrel.

Plus, it's not a firearm.

That one's not mine, I was just too lazy to take a picture of mine. My combustion chamber's 18 inches long of 6 inch i think with a 1 inch by 4 foot or so barrel. I use quickstart, which has more energy per volume than propane. Canadian winters do wonders for the range (oxygen content). A well-done propane could outdo mine, though, because of better mixture control. How is it not a firearm? It might not meet the government's standard of firearm (low muzzle energy and too slow) but I'm sure it meets a gunsmith's definition.

Armscor High Standard 1911 .45ACP will be a favorite for the fact that its over $100 cheaper then any other non Armscor 1911, also the parts fit is better than most non-modified guns as they are hand assembled and fit. As well as the fact that it shoots just as well as any $1000 1911. I just got this one brand new today and put over 200rds though her without a single problem at all right out of the box and the 2 other silver mags are Wilson Combat 8rd. Another fact is it has the longer grip-frame to hold 8rds and with the fact that my palms are pretty wide so I found the Armscor/sub-brands to be alot more comfortable to hold, versus the Kimbers, Remmingtons, and Springfields that I tried since most of them are only 7rd mag wells.

I feel like I'm echoing old ghosts (aka steelrat), but reading through this thread in the wake of Orlando over the weekend (and I know that alone will incense a lot of of you) gives me a whole lot of mixed feelings. Yes, I'm an avid paintball. Yes, I'm also a gun owner (both long guns and hand guns). Yes, I firmly support second amendment rights. I just feel like posts featuring assault style weapons on a forum dedicated to a game where we use gun-like markers to shoot one another is a fuzzy line I'd rather not cross. This is particularly because of the ways some of the pictures portray our members brandishing real weapons in a manner that is basically undistinguishable from the way I, for example, might pose with a paintball gun (i.e. in tactical gear, wearing camouflage).

I get it, the second amendment was put in place by the founding fathers to balance power between the people and the state. Now, the state has a whole lot of firepower behind it, and it takes a "well armed" populace to balance that power. My point has nothing to do with criticising other people's choices as it relates to exercising this constitution-granted, supreme-court-tested right. It does, however, have to do with the right place and the right way to communicate such things.

I've been an AO member for a long time, and I've learned a lot from this community. And I know we have a whole section of the forum dedicated to friendly chat about non-paintball stuff. But for me, this thread blurs a line I'm personally not willing to cross. I've spent many a day and night debating with family, friends, neighbors and strangers that paintball is strictly a recreational sport, and is more like tag than any kind of "war game" that the extreme left wants to portray it to be. This thread really erodes my credibility in that argument, and it doesn't do a lot to attract new players to game in such a polarized environment about gun ownership, self protection, the second amendment and murder rates.

Sorry to get up on my soap box, but I just felt the need to get this out there. I have no doubt that at least some of you will think I'm dead wrong, and I totally respect your opinion. I just don't share it.

I guess my question would be...what is the difference between one shooting sport (paintball) and another shooting sport (firearms)?

Personally I see no difference. I have played semi-professionally in paintball and play semi-professionally in firearm sports. I will be competing in a regional shooting competition at the end of the month using similar weapons to those pictured.

Where do we draw the line? Should people use military terms for their paintball names like Zulu or Bravo or a combination of that because it might have the wrong connotation for someone? The name I use (wetwrks) falls into that same boat. Do we need to be PC with people's names because it might hurt someone's feelings? Might offend someone?

I understand people are shocked by the shooting...but would we be having this same discussion were the killings done with a bomb? Would we be having this discussion about people's pocketknives if the killer had used a knife?

Bad people do bad things. The tool is just a means to an end...take away one tool and they just go back to the toolbox for a different tool. Look to Israel...it is difficult to get firearms there but that doesn't stop the terrorists...they go after knives and bombs or steal legally owned firearms from police or military. Look to Paris...they have extremely restrictive firearm laws there yet it did nothing to stop multiple attackers from getting fully-automatic AK47s. Firearms and bombs weren't available on 9-11 so they went to the toolbox and got a different tool (box cutters) to achieve their goal. Demonizing firearms won't stop terrorists.

Also keep in mind that the anti-gun crowd wants anything that even resembles a firearm outlawed. I personally have read internal memos that they want camo clothing banned as it "promotes a violent mindset". Once the guns go away you can bet all paintball will follow.

Just to be clear, I wasn't at all advocating for any prohibitions on firearms ownership whatsoever, nor was I claiming to be any holier than anyone else. Like I said in my initial post, I myself am a recreational shooting enthusiast. I just think that we should be careful, as a community, to represent a positive image both to our fellow community members and to the wider world, since this is a publicly accessible forum.

While it may be semantic, I take issue with the mixed use of the verb "play" used for both paintball and firearms. I don't "play" with real guns, and I think we as firearms owners have a duty to portray and embody responsible use, even if for entertainment and recreation, when it comes to shooting. That's the real crux of my point: this forum is dedicated to a game that has long struggled with negative connotations of violence and increasing people's propensity to commit violence. While there may be some aesthetic similarities between real guns and paintball markers, my view is that it's really important for us to differentiate the two. And, I think it is very much in our interest, as paintball enthusiasts, to do so.

Pictures in tactical gear brandishing real firearms on a paintball forum is well within the rights of free speech and the basic rules for the forum. I just think it's bad taste that jeopardizes the work we've done to differentiate paintball from more violent pursuits, and it doesn't really help the cause of recruiting new young players when we blur the lines between a game and preparation for real combat.

In my experience paintballers have above average respect for firearms. And are very well versed in their safety. Lets keep it light in here and just leave the political dialogue alone.

wetwrks
06-14-2016, 06:54 PM
Nothing you do or don't do will separate paintball from real firearms for anyone who is anti-gun. Remove all photos and discussion of firearms from this site and people will still look at paintball in the same light...you still have people running around playing at war in military garb with "guns".

That brings back memories of Christmas wishes years ago. Couldn't hardly go to the mall without hitting the cutlery store to look at those sitting in the case along with the .3357 spotmarker, and the 007 Nelspot.

I had a chance to buy about 20 SMG-60 up till about 10 years ago but wouldn't touch them with a 10' pole. They were all from Rocky Flats. If you don't know about Rocky Flats it was one of Americas nuke bomb building plants and they came up missing several pounds of plutonium. During the cleanup and shut down of the place they recovered almost all of the missing material...it was lining the air vents of the building. People had been breathing it...eating it...it was irradiating everything on site...yah...not interested in bringing anything from that place into my home. Additionally the price was as much for a new one and then they would have had to be converted to .68cal.

assault style weapons

Please remove that term from your vocabulary. It was created by Josh Sugarmann, director and founder of the violence policy center. His foundation has taken a lot of money and used it against all shooting sports, including paintball, by associating how we spend our weekends with domestic terrorism and violence.

The idea was to create confusion amongst politicians and the general public that modern sporting rifles were in fact select fire assault rifles. Sales of new select fire assault rifles were already banned in the 86 "firearm owners protection act". This despite the fact that an NFA registered machine gun has only been used in 2 murder cases that I've found, by far making them the least deadly of any firearm.

Josh Sugarmann was also one of the earlier people that created the media dialogue about paintball fields being used as a training camp for radical militias (domestic terrorists).

We need to approach educating outsiders about shooting sports the same way we do in paintball. For almost all of us guns are pieces of sporting equipment, used in both recreational and professional sports. If you know your history of ancient civilization you'll know that sports have been around since the dawn of time as peaceful demonstrations of someone's or some groups martial arts.

Its why we call them paintball markers and modern sporting rifles.

As my own thing I take the perception a step further and don't own any black markers and most of my guns are adorned in wood (despite having 2 models patterned off guns that have been very prolifically used in wars). Just because a gun's black doesn't mean its more deadly, they are just perceived that way. Ironic considering the side that dialogue's coming from...
