Does anyone use any sort of home automation system?

I've used a x-10 system in the past but am looking for a better product for the new home. I've come across z-wave, which looks promising and RadioRA from Lutron, also promising but more expensive.

I'm looking for remote control, security camera and PC control. If anyone knows anything I'd appreciate the info.

I have a Control 4 (https://www.control4.com) setup. It's not something you can build yourself. It is quite nice. In my duplex (co-owned with the other resident) we have two HTC and a lot of lighting control. Have not put in thermostats or anything else yet.

One of my friends is really into the home automation stuff. I'm stuck on dial up right now, but I'll be back on a faster connection in a few days, then I'll link you to all his stuff. He's got some good info, and links to lots more good information.

The dude's house seems like it's from the future. It's pretty amazing.

interesting.....WAY to time consuming. I work 12-16 hours a day, so I won't have time to do that.
Looking for something a little more PnP with the posibility to add my touch in the years ahead.....
