View Full Version : Powertube Tip problem

So I recently bought a classic mag, and the powertube tip wouldn't screw in all the way. I tried screwing another powertube tip into the same valve, and it worked fine. So I've concluded that the bad powertube tip is some obsolete version, or a version not compatible with the classic valve?
If any of you know what's going on, tell me, and if you have a powertube tip F/S I'll buy it.

Well, if there is nthingin there with that one picture then I would say the tip threads are poopy and you just need a new tip.
I see some mauling on the one tip on the left.
Score a new tip and you should be fine.

Like the left side of the second thread of the left tip? There's a split starting there. You might be able to clean it up with a needle file.
Nice job on the pics, btw.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess the threads are just "poopy".
After examining the pictures (I didn't know my camera was this amazing!), I think the threads on the bad tip are steeper?! Would forcing them into the stainless powertube mess up the powertube's threads at all? I was hoping the brass could bend into the right threads?
