After waiting four months for the UMF, and after spending two months buying/collecting parts, and after spending two or so weeks fiddling and drilling and tapping and tinkering...

It's finally done. :headbang:

First, the pics!

<a href="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/p-mag4.JPG"><img src="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/p-mag4.JPG" width="800" height="600"></img></a>

And some pics of the Internals

<a href="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/DSC04483.JPG"><img src="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/DSC04483.JPG" width="400" height="300"></img></a>
(That paper clip has since been replaced with a custom-built pin.)

<a href="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/DSC04450.JPG"><img src="http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/DSC04450.JPG" width="400" height="300"></img></a>
(This last one is a close-up of the air line coming out of the 15* ASA. When the 800psi air hits the T-fitting attached to the Palmer's Fatty, part of it is redirected and lowered to about 60psi. Then, it goes up into the blemished 15* ASA and out the little port that I drilled and tapped.)

And I even have some high-quality videos! (They're about 6mb each.)
Shooting with a straw! (http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/straw.MPG) (right-click...save as)!
Walking the pneumag! (http://www.rawbutter.com/images/paintball/walking.MPG) (right-click...save as)!
I still need to practice my trigger walking. This is the first gun I've ever owned that is walkable, so I need LOTS of practice. I can do 11 bps when I'm just messing around in my house, but when I'm out on the field and my fingers get cold, it's a different story.

Specs:
X-Valve
Logic UMF with Dye Stickies
ULE body
CCM feedneck
Splinter rail
Scepter barrel kit
15* blemished ASA (you can't even tell I painted it myself, can you?)
Palmers Shorty LPR with T fitting
MacDev Pushbutton LegionAir (which slides nicely onto the rail on the bottom of the UMF)
MSV-2 and MPA piston for the pneumatics
black shrink-wrap with AO logo

Things I learned in the process:
You don't need all those awesome tools to make a pneumag (although I'm sure they help). I did this all by myself with a hand-held drill, roto-zip, a few clamps, and lots of little tools that I bought for about $50.
Function is more important than form. This gun was originally supposed to have a Dallara and some other goodies, but they had to be sacrificed because they just wouldn't work with some other parts I bought. But when it was all said and done, I LOVE the way it turned out.
Pneumags are FAST! Even with my lousy trigger-walking, I was able to outshoot a Halo Frontman hopper. (It's rated for 8-12 bps, and I definitely hit higher bursts than that while practicing with some reballs.) After my first game with the pneumag, I decided to upgrade to a Halo B.
Speaking of which, reballs bounce. A LOT. And then they roll under everything and you can never find them again.
Oh... and the shot counters on Halo Frontmans? They suck. After blowing through a bag of 500 reballs, it said I had only fired 237 shots. :tard:
I can get about 800 shots from a 68/4500 tank with the pneumatic conversion and Level 10... which is plenty for my needs.

Special thanks for cyberave and pneumagger for the tips, pointers, and parts! You guys rock! :hail:

If you get a chance take some picks of the inside. That looks really nice good job, I'm thinking of doing that myself.

Congrats :headbang: I just finished my pneumag about 2 days ago. After reading all the post  and watching all the video :tard: , I never tough it would work that well. It blew me away :wow:

That is a clean looking gun. You should have lots of fun at the field!
I will be building a pneumag this winter as well.

Thanks for all the compliments.

I did take some pics of the inside, but when I was about to post them, I realized they were all out of focus. I'll try again this weekend, when I have the time to take the gun apart again.

very sweet! my UMF pneumag's gonna look VERY similar to that one. :p no fatty reg or 15* though.

I'm in the process of building it. sold my first pneumag, missed it so much i had to make another.

some pics of the inside would be awesome. the intelli mount in the UMF isnt very large, and i'm wondering how to mount the fabco valve inside.

Yeah... something tells me that the mount inside the UMF was designed before pneumags became popular, because it's really not in a good spot. I'll take a few pics when I get the chance so you can see what I did... and then hopefully you can do it better. (That's the only part of the whole gun that I'm not 100% satisfied with.)

Notice where the trigger pin is hitting the MSV-2 lever. This is the only part of the entire gun that came out less than perfect, in my mind. Unfortunately, the inside of the UMF is rather tight, and if I moved the MSV-2 down, then the lever wouldn't move properly. I guess I could have milled out part of the frame, but I was really trying to avoid that.

by tight, what do you mean? Is the frame too narrow ...I picked one up and was planning on going ep with it

look how low my 3-way is in my chimera

i have one, and looking at it, it looks like that if you move the msv down, the angle it's at wont allow it to actuate properly. theeres a section behind where he placed the msv thats cut away stock, probably for the sear, which allows it to gain that tiny bit of angle needed.

hows the pull strength with it like that? and check out the clearance between the sear and the msv. amazing. :D and whats that yellow paperclip looking thing? ;p

if looks as if you removed a bit of the wiring/hosing, cleaning it up a bit, you could move the mpa-3 down a bit, lightening the trigger pull by increasing leverage, and thus less pressure needed from the lpr.

also, raw, there is an alternative to milling the frame. you can mill down a good 1/4 of the back of the msv, removing one hole and allowing it to sit at the proper angle. although if you do it this way, you'll need a small place like tonn's mounted to the intellifeed mount, and using that to mount the msv instead. a little more work, but a little cleaner as well.

EDIT: hey raw butter, are you using the trigger stop to push the trigger pin? i just noticed that the pin is in generally the same area as the trigger stop.

Sweet looking...

Is the video still available? The link is not working for me. I want to convert mine to a pneu-mag as well. Thanks!

Yes, the frame is narrow. If you move the MSV down, it won't actuate properly. But... I was just unwilling to mill the frame. (This was my first time, after all.) I'm sure if you cut away a small part of the frame, or if you cut down the actual MSV (like Andrew suggested), then you could move the MSV down a little more, leave the lever a little longer, and decrease the trigger pull weight.

Check out the video. From what I can tell, it's a little heavy compared to some other pneumags (because the lever is so short), but I can still walk the trigger and outshoot my Halo Frontman hopper. And I play mostly woodsball, so I'm completely happy with it's performance. I don't think I'll ever truly need the functional limits of this hopper.

As for the yellow paper clip, that's just wrapped in there to keep the hoses lined up where I want them and out of the way.

EDIT: hey raw butter, are you using the trigger stop to push the trigger pin? i just noticed that the pin is in generally the same area as the trigger stop.

The trigger stop on the UMF has a little rubber tip. I tried using it, but it would actually stick just a little bit every once in a while, and the trigger wouldn't return properly. So I took it out. Then, I just messed around with the trigger rod until it was just the right length.

As for the video, not sure if I can help... it works for me. If right-clicking and saving it to your hard drive doesn't work, try just clicking on it. (You do need QuickTime.)

That is indeed very low. (I would have never thought to add a little mount for the MSV.) You're trigger weight must be incredibly light. Nicely done. Much better than mine. :hail:

thank cyberave lol....he made that bracket and installed my pneus, but yeah the pull is crazy light, i'll have to do some messing around with the umf I never actually noticed it being more narrow untill seeing yours, if I come up with something i'll let you know

Yeah... and the problem isn't actually the space behind the MSV... it's the space in front of it. There are holes already drilled in the intellifeed mount inside the UMF, and they're just not in the exact right spot. The MSV also has two holes, but if you use the top one, then the MSV sits so close to the front of the UMF that the lever cannot fully depress... which causes problems, obviously. If you use the bottom hole on the MSV, like I did, then... well... you can see the result.

I'm gonna look at my frame when I get home, but it looks like I can mount a bracket...something like in my chimera. Might require a dremmel to cut a slot for it to mount and to give the 3way some more room

Sorry about the crappy pic, all I have is a cameraphone. Anyway I notched a piece of aluminum to fit on the intellifeed mount and msv-2

You win.

One of these days, I'll get tired of my "less than super-dooper light" pull, and I'll rip the thing apart and redo it the way you did, probably.

Nah - I'd call it a draw, I've got a huge lpr (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g28/mstrdbz/pnuemagdone.jpg) hanging off the va.

ok so on the fabco msv-2, do you have to drill the holes for the barbs, or are the holes for the barbs already there
