SO i saw a thread last night inquiring on laser engraving/ wood carving(thanks craltal). this made me dig out my wood burning kit at 2 in the morning and have at my krugers.

before

at first i wanted to put JadeMonkey on both sides but after testing on the back of one of the grips. The small size of the lettering was too much for my skill level. so i decided to go with JADE on one side and MONKEY on the other.

i went on the net and found a font i really liked, and could reproduce. printed out the sizes i needed and taped the paper right to the grips as a stencil

5 hours of burning later, and a nice coat of water proofing varnish

<a href="http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7247681"><img src="http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/12/34115575693.jpg" alt="Click to enlarge."></a>

i think it turned out freakin SEXY! the M looks funky in the pic but these pics dont do it justice.

heres the finished product on the gun. first pics are with flash, shows how the burn is indented and convex
<a href="http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7249085" target="_blank"><img src="http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/12/34122112215.jpg" alt="Click to enlarge."></a>
<a href="http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7249088" target="_blank"><img src="http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/12/34122112387.jpg" alt="Click to enlarge."></a>

this is without flash to show the colors a bit better

Hope you all like! :D

looks good. How do you do that? Is that special paper that keeps the burn inside the stencil?

no i just used regular paper and kept the tip of my wood burner on the inside on the lines. I let the paper burn away just enough to leave a mark on the wood then removed the paper for the final burning. took some practice, but i think i got it down

This is not a bad idea for personalizing a marker. The resale value of the marker isn't impaired because the panels can be replaced with Stickies or other grips. Plus, you can move the panels to your next marker.

I have to say, your marker does indeed look very sexy, but i also love short barreled mags, like my 8 inch crown point that i use regularly on my RT, but that 5 inches of effective barrel aren't so great on my gas efficiency...

Ah, i love my Crown Point too much to cheat on it, but if i ever get a mag with a ULE body (which could very well happen when i'm doing better financially) tehn i might get that. As long as it has one id down the length of the barrel i'll use it and most likely like it. I remember a while back i wanted a ULE body and wanted to see if i could get my Crown Point cut and threaded for a cocker haha.
