Mine was a lame play on words based on trying to find an unused email name a long time ago.

I love cats and so Punk and Cat, as well as the fact that I was born on Halloween so Pumpkin Cat. It was thus shortened into punkncat. Its worked out rather well in that no forum or email account I have ever signed up for had it already taken.

How about you?

Got mine from my older brother. Well back in my high school days I dated the drama queen psyhcotic "village bicycle" named Molly. Well my older bro hated her and called her a swamp donkey on night when he was baked and he made some comment about calling me the swamp donkey king or something like that. He probably shorten it cause he couldn't remember what he said before or my real name at the time.

Back in the day when we had lan parties, i didnt have a gamertag, and at the time i had some ghey screenames/forum handles....

Well, some nerdy kid (lan party, remember?) goes 'behemoth' - had to look it up, never heard it before -- It fit nicely.

be·he·moth (bĭ-hē'məth, bē'ə-məth) Pronunciation Key

I'm 6 foot 4, 260lbs... and can bench almost that much too..

I registered on the specops forums just to ask a few questions about the A-5. Well I did. Then half a year later I began posting again and now I have like 3k posts over there. I've abandoned the specops forums now, and I blame them for my rediculous username. I remember trying to think of something, and I had a few things in mind (hittmann :( ), but I thought, I'll create a second account with a cooler name after I just ask these couple of questions.

And now I'm "Questionful". :tard: DOH!

Lenny
12-17-2007, 11:24 AM
Some guy at church YEARS ago couldn't remember my name, so he yelled out "Hey Lenny!" and I looked around trying to figure out who Lenny was. Since I responded, it stuck. Everyone at the church calls me Lenny. And I kind of like it. It's not a nickname you hear often.

BTW, awesome thread. :headbang:

My friends and I used to hit the Gym all the time. I was a swimmer in high school and college, and during the season, it was tough to keep muscle mass on, so our objective, all season, since we were sprinters was to Stay Huge, so I made it my AIM name, and Ebay name, and figured I would keep it.

On every forum that I've ever been a part of, I've been Iceman... until now. (Iceman was already taken, although I have yet to see that person ever sign on. Hmm... maybe I can email the mods and steal that guy's username.)

As for Iceman, it actually came from the movie "Top Gun." Iceman was the pilot who always flew very by-the-book... ice cold... no mistakes. So, a bunch of friends started calling me that in college because of the way I played GoldenEye. They even say it the way Tom Cruise did.

Since I couldn't use Iceman, I used rawbutter instead... my website URL. The name for that came from an inside joke that came from of a friend who had pneumonia. The doctors ended up draining fluid out of his lungs, and he said it looked like "raw, lung butter." So from then on, whenever he used butter at the dinner table.... well, you get the idea.

Your typical laid-back rec player, Swampy is good but not great, and thinks a 'Mag is plenty "high tech" for him. A regular hangout at the Shop and frequent bystander when a new gadget gets tested, he's usually the first one to call the fire department. Doesn't mind helping sweep up the debris.

What exactly does Doc mean by "thinks a 'Mag is plenty "high tech" for him"? :nono:

I have one of those names that nobody can pronounce... So when I go to restaurants, or anywhere that asks for your name... I avoid the ensuing... What? Roy? Huh? Can you spell that? and a generally annoyed look, by dropping some random name and Moe is one of the many on the list.

What’s really funny is when I go places and people remember me... but I don’t remember the name I used last time I was there.

Then the Mag part doesn’t need explanation

As far as a nick name... The most used one is "The" in front of my name, so not very useful.

Put them together and you get anomoly. 40 was because anomoly was taken and hotmail suggested 40.

I used to date a really sweet and very pretty girl from India and this is the nickname she gave me. It means life but is roughly akin to calling someone beloved. It seemed exotic enough so I used it for the name of the first character I made for 3rd edition. Shortly after that I made it my screen name on the D&D boards back in 2001ish. It's almost always available so I use it on most boards...here, M Carter Brown, Paintball Nation, Yankee Division, Phantom Owners Group, Stock Class Paintball etc.

Here is the Wikipedia entry on the name and it's local variations;

I was always a Star Wars nerd, and 10 years ago when I made my first email account, yoda900 was taken, so I threw a 0 in there instead. Every now and then I'll forget a password somewhere and make a new name by reverting it back to the original intent or toss on another 0 at the end. I think that happened here, I know I had an account from well before 2006, I just don't remember what the hell it was.

olinar
12-17-2007, 04:25 PM
mine is actually really stupid.

I used to play the game Diablo II and was trying to find a good name that was suitable for that time. I came up with Olinar, my brothers name being oliver so i just adapted it to my liking.

I am however going to use Ironhyde from now on. A couple weeks ago in my history class we were supposed to come wup with an invention that would be beneficial to a specific era. Well after just watching the moving Glory we figured a nice body armor would be suitable. so we sketched it all out and everything. couldnt think of a name so i tried to come up with something that was as fierce sounding as Dragon scale.(as on the newly developed personal armor being developed) then i remembered Ironhyde from Transformers. So i just said it and they all loved it and it kinda stuck. so thats what ill use from now on. I started using it over on PBlegion and ill probably eventually change my gamertag for xboxlive and others.

HAhahahaha thanks guys! Actually you're not the first ones to read it like this (Dieseltruck and Dieseldrunk) but it's always funny to read this... My grandparents have a box full of letters they received with variations of this surename.

And, with such a name, specially here in Brazil, I always say to my father that the day he opens the journal and sees my name in the news he will be sure it's me  No way someone could mistake that name...

SummaryJudgement
12-17-2007, 05:21 PM
Well, I had been floating around AO for ages and finally had something I wanted to post about, or PM or something, I don't remember.

So, I came up with SummaryJudgement. I thought it sounded cool at the time and didn't know if I would be frequenting AO that often (boy was I wrong). It basically means that you would be found in favor because there is no case against you. I wish I had chosen something else now, it's not really an easy nickname to go by, especially on a field. It's not like "BigEvil", where you could probably just yell "Big!" and have people know who you're talking about/to.

Main Entry:

I draw/drew some cartoonish characters, one based after me in a fox-like form, and the other 3 i made up. I called them the Zone Drifters, since they never stayed in one place for too long. The zone was a name given to any given area that they were in. So, zone drifter is basically the group of characters i created.

Well i figured i would show all of them up (didn't think highly of them) and name myself snoopy7.0, and i liked peanuts, so i figured it would all work out. That was until i tried to sign up for AIM, so i had to make it snoopay700 because it wouldn't let me have snoopy700, and i figured why make a new name once i joined this one message board called hdskate, and since then it's been my forum screenname.

Over the years it got shortened to simply Rabbit. Unfortunately it is a very popular screenie, so I can't use it everywhere. And I can't stand seeing Ricochet mistyped (OCD)

Huh, see, I always thought your name was just an alternate spelling of John, pronounced Jah-ahn. Run 'em together like us Massachusetts folk do and it's pretty much the same as John. Hah!

Anyway, my nick is about 8-9 years old, one of my teachers referred to me as "the Pixel Guru" since I was always making stuff in Photoshop. I registered it and it kinda stuck. And to keep them inline you would have to be cold like ice with the back hands.

So smoothice was born.

My back up pimp nickname is silky smooth. It just has a nice ring to it.

Hahahahaha does your parents know this? Amazing!! hahahaha

Ratzo
12-18-2007, 10:39 AM
I've been using Ratzo since 1988, on arcade games.
I liked Ed"Big Daddy" Roth and his character "RatFink", I didn't want to rip off the "RatFink" name so I tweeked it to Ratzo.
I have used RatFink as my Avatar on many forums.

cyclic

Back in the early days, when VM-68's were new. I picked up a F-1 illistrator. I ported the valve, opened up the bolt face, and a very light trigger job. I had a rather decent rate of fire. I had to explain what a "cyclic" rate was, and it stuck. Then I went a bought a full auto 9mm and it was set in stone- I was Cyclic.

I remember when the first semi-auto's came out and I was just lusting on them during lunch break. Things progressed pretty fast at that point, and before long I was running a mag, playing the local teams, and the field "airsmith" (if you can remember when that term was "hip"). Been out for a long time, and had to dig the old mag out. It was the only gun I never got rid of. Seriously thinking of pneumag conversion, just waiting on some extra time and money not dictated for the family.

My teammates gave it to me (Werewolves of NJ/PA, one of PB2X's 'Top 50 Teams of All Time').

I'm not a big guy (5'5", 120 pounds) but I am aggressive and my teammates decided that what I most reminded them of was a small, rabid dog.

I then chose to name a publishing company after the nickname and produced my well-received Maxing book about tournament tactics.

The name was initially spelled correctly (chihuahua) but I got so many people writing and posting that it was spelled incorrectly, that I adopted the incorrect spelling (chihauhau) so that I wouldn't have to explain all the time.

Now I get people telling me its spelled incorrectly...

Rudz is short for RUdzeyenrkncpt, my AIM name

RU are my initials

Dzeyenr is designer

Kncpt is concept

Designer concept refers to a piont in time when I was working as a graphic designer, and every design begins with a concept, rudz pretty much followed me on every forum, and all my pb buddies call me rudz, even my dad calls me rudz every once in a while

Depending on the accent you write my last name with, it translates to either "Mu" or "Ken" in japanese. And I go by a philosophy of not placing too much ego into competitive things, so I thought the name fit rather well.

Mine comes from the Redwall series of books by Brian Jacques. Warbeak was a sparrow warrior in one of the books. The 2099 part comes from Marvel Comics. The 2099 series is a futuristic version of several characters including Spiderman 2099, Punisher 2099, and Thor 2099.
I used to LOVE those books. My favortites were always "Outcast of Redwall", "Salamndastron", and "Matimeo".

I am a really unimaginative person, so I used my initials. If someone made me use another name, I would choose "hammer". Why? Because it is a link to my past occupation and it somewhat describes the way I play PB.

dahoeb
12-20-2007, 01:21 PM
Well, I took french class in highschool, and my french teacher always pronounced my name (Robert) as "Hoebear". Some of my friends called me "the hoeb" in class, and that just sortof eventually became "da hoeb". Now it's just shortened down to a single word. Thus is the evolution of the online name I've been to lazy to change for about 6 years now.

I am a Radiation Protection Technician (RP), and I'm 6'2" and 265ish lbs. I was working a Steam Generator Replacement Outage in South Texas. The Containment Coordinators kept trying to perform work at inappropriate times (easiest way to explain to NON-NUKES)and since I was the biggest (and loudest) RP on the floor, they started refering to me as the "Gorilla". After one especially trying shift one of the Coordinators mentioned to a co-worker that I thought I was the "Alpha Gorilla". According to the co-worker, he shrugged his shoulders and said,"He is." After that they refered to me as "Silverback" and I have carried the handle with pride ever since.

I've always had a 68 Automag, but when I was invited to join a competition paintball team in 2004, I got the chance to play a lot of paintball, nearly every week. I never really played pump until I joined.

I had so much fun playing pump that when I saw an Automag Pump for sale, I just had to have it. Being a Mag owner since 1992, it was only natural that I would adapt really well to using a PumpMag.

Uhlan
03-26-2008, 03:28 PM
Nothing to do with paintball.

I've been a Civil War reenactor for a very long time, doing Union Cavalry (http://mainecav.org).

Years back I got involved with modding a PC based World War I flight sim called Red Baron and joined a virtual squadron for on-line play that represented an Austro-Hungarian fighter squadron. I needed a callsign.

http://swwisa.net/uhlan/ua.gif (http://swwisa.net/uhlan)
click the logo to see stuff I did for the sim

My first thought was Dragoon as it related to my cavalry background and even how CW cavalry operated, but it was a already used, a little long since it had to have the squad designation in front of it too, so I went for Uhlan - a lancer, and I became f61j~Uhlan.

So many people know me by Uhlan now that I use it all over the internet as my handle, callsign, even on the paintball field - otherwise I'd probably be known as Big Hairy Bald Guy by now.

Mine means "wicked white man" in Swahili. It was the nickname given to Capt. Sir Richard Francis Burton by his arab and african porters on his journey to Lake Victoria and Tanganyika after he responded harshly to one of their many, petulant squabbles. Burton was an incredible genius and a badass and (with the exception of the opium addiction and near-constant philandering) I use him as a benchmark of my own personal achievement. He achieved more in his lifetime than 50 average men would achieve in theirs.
