I stick with old school tigerstripes and woodland. The most effective camo I've seen on well worn fields is Flecktarn.

i use the Canadian CADPAT design, works wonders up here with our foliage. not sure what kind of trees are prominent there.

I wear desert night cammo in the woods, doesnt work worth a ding dong in the desert at night but does pretty ok in the woods in the day, though the candy apple chrome minimag tends to give away my position.... But by the time you see the gun, its too late :ninja:

I currently use Tigerstripe. However, I'm a fan of Marpat and I plan on picking up SpecOps Ultralights in their new OmniPat. Course, It's a bit warmer so Ultarlites will be nice.

I'm a big fan of MultiCam (which OmniPat rips off)

Multicam is wonderful stuff!!

Tru-Spec or Propper are 2 good sources for it that are inexpensive yet still use genuine Multicam fabric.

To be honest I like the old standard camo. I dunno, its called "woodland" in the pic above. Regionally I think mossy oak is one of the more effective patterns. I just like the old stuff cause its found cheap in every surplus store and wally world in the area, not to mention the salvation army store, etc.
I think the last set I picked up cost me less than $15 for the entire getup.

Huge fan of the Multicam. I live in NH and it works pretty well here.

I use CADPAT. I love it and most of the guys at my field want the stuff.

My suggestion is simple but may require more time than you wish to devote to it...

I suggest that you get a decent digital camera that has time and date-stamp capabilities and take good pics throughout the year. Go to your playing area/field and snap some shots of the foliage and terrain and create a 'visual notebook' of the area throughout the year. A pic a week should do fairly well for you...

What you do then is category the pics by season...and then by date within that season.

Get a box of photo-grade paper and print the pics from your computer and then take those photos to the store and compare them to the choices on the racks.

This is by far, the best way to pic your camo - but like I said, it takes time to get the photos.

If you don't want to go through all of that, pick a "general" camo scheme that fits your terrain.

Hardwoods/Firs/lots of foliage = MARPAT or some type of Mossy Oak hunting pattern (for that particular season)

Sandy or light-colored terrain and sparse vegetation = ACU or a desert pattern

I use MARPAT. If you get some, get the stuff made by Propper. The Tru-Spec fades very, very quickly.

Flecktarn is really nice for mixed woodland and especially pine forests and like a previous post stated worn or broken up areas with lots of dirt and bush mix (or leaves). The problem with the stuff (and most foreign camos) is that it is really hard to find and that multicam looks really nice (expensive stuff though). I would recommend looking around at some of the stranger varities that might work in your area. Woodland and other such patterns are just used too much. I wonder if how common a pattern is (how many times you see it) makes a difference in reconizing on the field. I would think so.

I recently purchased a new pair of Multicam Pants made by Propper... They're the same cut as the new Army digital which is super comfortable. They have an extra pocket on the side of each calf, and knee pad holders on each leg, which are also life savers.

I purchased mine from a local army navy surplus store, I told them flat out that I'd rather buy from a local business than online, and they rewarded me by giving me a great deal.

$47 tax included :)

The multicam seems to do a great job of helping you match your surroundings, I personally think its great, during deer season this year I ended up wearing the Multicam every day even though I brought other pants with me... nine days  I have a bunch of pictures from November... they're from my trail camera, so dont think I go tramping around the woods with a photographer... I'll let you decide if it does a good job.

Here I am atop a granite bluff, the surroundings were well, granite...

Multicam pants with snow on the ground...

I love this picture, with the green behind me te Multicam tricks your eyes into noticing the green in the pattern... yet two pictures down, it does the same with the brown surroundings...
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1190/mdgc0001websafeyg6.jpg

Multicam in Infared, yes the pattern still hides your figure... note I have my ACU jacket on in this picture as well, you should be able to tell the difference in the patterns.

multicam in an area with alot of brown foliage... if my boot wasnt on I dont think we'd be able to see my left leg at all!
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/8505/mdgc0007websafeqe4.jpg

This is a great example of the ACU pattern vs the Multicam in these surroundings...

If you love this pattern enough, maybe, just maybe you'll take the time to camouflage one of your riflestocks like I did :D

I love my Flecktarn jacket. Works amazingly in the local coniferous forests. You can get full sets of it (pants, jacket, field cap, and rain coat) for under $30 at the local surplus store, or about $5-$10 for each piece.

Someday I might try some tiger stripe.

Bad Dog-I think you got ripped, unless you were being sarcastic? They're 30 bucks everywhere online for the Propper stuff.

After seeing those pics though, im definately going with multicam.

I use Marpat woodland digi, or I use urban digi, depending where and when I am playing, I have been thinking of picking up some multicam, Olive Drab, and ACU's too at some point. I end up playing in many enviroments when I travel. Plus there is my trusty pair of JT pants and my black I.P.P./KPCS shirt in big bright white lettering I wear too.

I'm ugly. why else?

no, really it's because in todays world you never know who might find a picture of you with an "evil black rifle" on the net. How am I supposed to run for President if the media gets ahold of these???

I searched around for about a week online, cheapest I could find was arund ~$65 for the pants... Ebay was a little cheaper, but adding in the cost of shipping made it about the same... although that was back in November.

I would highly reccommend you make sure you know what you are buying. If it doesnt have the Multicam tag, it isnt multicam. Plus these are the NEW style pants, not your typical Propper BDU's...

care to share with us a link to your $30 multicam pants?

Edit: a google products search yields $30 for the BDU's, not the "Combat Uniform Trousers" that Propper calls the new cut... It seems they've come down a bit in pice in the last few months... still, even at $45 online, you have to pay for shipping... making $47 a deal.

I've got 65% Polyester 35% cotton ripstop, that usually makes a difference as well...

here is the tag I mentioned before...

I have been a Camo Junkie for a long time, and consider myself the leading authority on all things camoflauge. I also consider myself the Queen of England.
That being said, here are a few of my obsevations gleaned from 20 some odd years of paintball and hunting:

Slightly faded BUSHLAN in green is the all-out deception leader in any kind of green terrain. Humans don't see it. Invisible in grass, and EL CHEAPO. Look at teambushlan.com

Dry-ish California tan is a toss-up between the old Diamondback pattern and brown Bushlan.
I havent seen DB for a while now, so it might be gone.

Comfort mixed with deception goes to old Renegade splotches. Keep if found, use liberaly.

New stuff, probably Mothwing. Get ready to pay. Great patterns.
If you don't like any of those, try any "open" patterns. People tend to see people VERY easily, especially in paintball where you are looking for that particular silouhette of the human outline. Open patterns kill that pretty easily.

Probably the worst are closed dark patterns in military styles, unless you are virtually blanketed by trees, rocks or structure, in which case any camo, including business suits, work pretty well.

Brent.
