so I'm shooting a pm6 right now but I am thinking about upgrading. I'm looking to spend about 600 dollars. I could probably go a little higher but either way I was just wondering what you guys would recommend?

That's a pretty open question. What do you like? What do you want? What do you not want?

well I'm looking for something that's fast and light obviously. but also I would like it to be somewhat air efficient because one of the field I play at sells their air at a very steep price. and as far as what i don't want, I am pretty much open to anything.

well then, any air efficiany marker that shoots psp mode is your options. find one that fits you best :)

If you like small, fast with good air efficiency. Ego or Cyborg (Any model year)is the direction you will want to go.

what about a viking? They are very air efficient and somthing you dont see every day. They range between 350 for an old stock one to alot more for custom ones so you could find a really nice one for your price range.

Cyborg or viking, though a nice light milled viking would probably run more than $600.

Fusion F8 with an after-market board = 550-600

if he's doing his pm6 plus up to $600 cash he could probably get a nice milled viking.

Just so you know, well set up vikings & cyborgs can get over a case (2000 rounds) on a single 68/4500 fill.

What he said.
THEE best you can get is a top of the line mag.
You can always have it pneu'd if it doesnt waste paint fast enough.
If you take a few paintball days and play just pump, you wont need
anything but a fast mech marker any more.
Since I did that the Viking has been lonely while I used the Micromag.
Its a 100% blast to play just mech after playing pump for a while.
Dont get me wrong, I love playing pump, but pump is more fun when everyone
is playing pump.
I can only get my head handed to my by some Ion kiddie so much before the Micromag comes back out.

I have a Phantom, when I play with it the cool refs call me "Bobby Dukes".

I want a S6 so I can have both worlds of pump.

Viking.

Super air efficient, fast as anything, and it will never break down. Also, it's consistant, needs very little maintaining, and rare. You could possibly find a cheap milled one for under $600, but not with a lot of upgrades. If you can deal with it looking a little blocky, the viking will serve you really really well. I have nothing to say but praise for my own.

Lol. My group of guys is all rocking some form of emag. We play %95 of our games in M with the pin in... but every once in awhile? Some 12 year olds, and their parents bank accounts, need to be taught a lesson. A glance, a nod, a feeling comes over the team and pins pop around the field.

Hail the E-mag and its shock factor!

I have decent air efficiency on my Emag, I love it, would recommend it to anyone, though if your going to go solely on air efficiency, then I am thinking a borg (any year will do, but good luck finding an 07 for 600 with any kind of upgrades) would be great for you, it will be cheaper than a vike, allowing you to save some more money on buying the precious air, even though you won't be stopping often for it!

EMAG, once you go AGD you never go back... :p
Do what I did borrow a friends one day, and you will be hooked from then on...

Does air efficiency really matter anymore? What's the longest game played now? 15 minutes maybe. If you're running out of air by the end of a game, you're doing something wrong. I start with a 68/4500 on an E mag, by the end of a game I usually have 2000 psi left.

If light weight is what you really need, try an Invert Mini.

He's looking for efficiency. Emags are anything but efficient, especially with level 10. Good, solid guns, but not efficient at all.

EDIT: 50 cal, he stated that air was expensive at his field.

I'd say a Mini. Small, Light, and good on air.

But when you tune them down to be soft on brittle paint the air efficiency plummets. At least all of mine have - then again I have free air so I don't get too excited.

What do you mean by tune them down? Just curious. I own a store and have shot everything that has come through the door. And let me say. I love the Mini. Some of my customers get so mad when they are shooting DM7's and Ego SL74's and they go down and come to me wanting something different. I tell them the Mini. They get so mad because it is only a $350 marker but then they use it one day, and always end up buying one for some "made up" reason. My good paintball buddy just bought a SL-74 Dark Ego. Takes it out of the box, outside temp. is about 50* and starts breaking paint like crazy. Had to sit down for 2 hours and "tune it" to get it to shoot withought breaking paint and then another hour to get it to shoot on ramping withought breaking paint. Me, I take out my Olive Dust Mini with matching 16" Ultralight, and start taking out people. I have shot over 15,000 rounds through my Mini and have never broken one ball. It is by far the most accurate marker I have ever shot. Sorry, I love mags and I mean love mags but this thing has out shot, out performed anything I have ever owned. All you have to do is lube it, and take care of it. If something goes wrong, call KEE action sports, they will fix it right away most likely for free, and your backup running again. Seriously, try it. Is is small, light, fast, accurate, and good on air. I get about 1800 shots off of my 72/4500. Thanks, and good luck.

I like my mini, and the several I have owned, don't get me wrong on that.

Two weeks ago I got into the "perfect storm" as far as breaking paint was concerned

Windchill outside -20 - inside the staging area the heaters could keep up to about 50-60 degrees, the field itself was around 30 I would guess.

Large enough field that shooting below 270 was not a good option

A new batch of tournament grade paint that proved brittle. Everyone and everything was blending it.

I turned the reg down as far as I could and still be able to adjust up near 270FPS - we're talking down below 120lbs.

In my 45/45 tank filling to 3K there was no way I could have gotten through a hopper and four pods - I questioned if I could get through all three I was carrying. Efficiency was not the strong point that day.

My Emag is just fine on air, granted it can't go as deep in the tank as others but I get plenty of shots out of my 68/45k for one or two games.

I don't understand why he cares so much about efficiency don't all fields charge for air all day? If there not then they should.

well depends

most places do but what if he plays hardcore xball style paintball.

best of 3 games out of five. you only get 45 seconds between each match. i would like to have a gun that i dont have to worrie about filling up every time the round ends

plus with the emag if the battery dies (emag batteries never seem to hold charge that long) you 'll have to use mech mode and most places wont allow that being how its reactive.

Mini- buy a better tank for weight balance
Pmr- upgrade that sucker
Cyborg- any year will do

thats my thoughts.

i seen 06 borgs sell for 450 on ebay before and thats just a steal.

put some money into it like a derlin popet for the red valve and upgrade the board to militia software and you'll be set

Okay fair enough, for the Xball scenario.
But Emag batteries not lasting......you must be joking...... maybe your battery is on its way out.

Man guys, don't take it so personally. Mags suck on air. My AKA guns are bricks compared to Minis and hyper milled egos. All our guns have drawbacks. Shoot what you like and enjoy it, but don't take it as a slap in the face when someone points out the flaws in them.

alright thanks guys I'm looking into picking up a viking one of my buddies dad shoots one so he's gonna let me use it this weekend. and yeah the reason I wanted something efficient is cause the local woodsball field I play at is really expensive for air because they don't have compressors on site just scuba tanks. At the indoor field I play at it is not an issue. I'm gonna check tomorrow with my local store owner and see if he has a cyborg I can try out.

Steelrat speaks the truth.

Mags are not very efficient so I would not recommend one in this case.

An 06 cyborg can be had cheap and they are extremely efficient and quick. A lot smaller than any viking too. Id take one over an ego or other weak electro any day.
