My guess would be at the post office for shipping supplies.

i think egg cartons are the best ones to choose since they have those point things similar to real gun case's foam. there are ones that are used to secure waffle cones (haha, dont ask), and are nice, but not as good as the egg cartons that i've seen.

Check out the camping section of a sporting goods store for the sleeping pads. Also some fabric stores carry foam as well.

Go to home depot then go to the insulation section.

Look for foam core they are near the back next to all the other insulation stuff.

You can easily cut them to any shape using a box cutter or an exacto knife. Also they are very cheap, about 6 dollars for a sheet of 6 ft by 6 ft. Come in 2 sizes, one that is 1/2" and one that is 1", but you can double stack them.

Core foam is styrene, you want sponge foam.

Any decent fabric store will have couch/cushion foam.

You're looking for pillow or cushion blanks at the craft store. Michaels, Ben Franklin, Jo-Anne Fabrics, that kind of place.

All of the craft foam you will get is kinda soft and pretty expensive. The good, denser stuff is hard to come by. I got a bunch of it that I kept from the box my flat screen tv came out of. That type is perfect - thick and more solid than the egg-crate foam from Michaels. The good thing about the craft store variety is at least you can get it pretty readily.

Lowe's
Home Depot
Michael's Arts + Crafts
Joanne's Fabric

Got some nice, dense foam at Joanne's for my case.

Fabric and Crafts stores. I tried Home Depot at first when I did this and they didn't carry soft foam.

Big Evil is right, good dense foam is hard to find. I look all the time. The only place I've found good dense foam in a nice gray color in a decent size piece...and at a decent price... is once at Building 19, and on the internet. There are places that sell nothing but foam.

Joanne's Fabric has some green foam for padding chairs and other stuff like that. Used it to make a poker table and it works great. They have different thicknesses also, but it is kind of pricey if you need a lot. Be nice to the workers, then ask if they have any coupon.....normally they will.

Some gun shops carry replacement foam for the gun cases too.
