View Full Version : The Evolution of the Mag

I would like to see how others beloved Mags have changed form over the years.

The gun must retain at least 2 original parts between transformations.

For Example:
-Same valve and same body
-Same valve and same rail
-Same valve and same trigger frame
-etc

It would be boring to see someone post a pic of their valve in completely different guns and claim a transformation.

I'm looking for some level of creativity. Such as you modified your original body/rail/etc to create a new look.

Please tell what drove you to change your Mag as well.

I first purchased my Automag back in 1996 for I believe $200. It was used. I have no idea how old it really is.

This is how she looked when I bought it. It came with a crown point barrel.

She remained in this current state until November 2006. I had been using a beat up e-spyder for my once a year paintball needs. I had my Automag as a back up. One day a friends gun went down and I let him use my Automag. He took 7 shots and the thing froze up

So this began my search to get her back working. I did a search on Automag and guess what I found? Automags.org

So I discovered co2 was freazing up my valve. Then found out the best way to keep co2 out of the valve. Then found out you could shoot faster with a double trigger. Then I found out there were different barrel bores.

With all my new found knowledge I pulled out the wallet. Sadly it hasn't been put back in my pocket since.

So after some puchases my mag was now co2 friendly

Then I made the mistake of going to my first AO meet. Here I saw so many beautiful markers. Xmags, emags, sfl's, deadlywind.

These markers were spitting out paint like there was no tomorrow. I then realized my dye double trigger frame was never going to cut it in the new faster is better world.

So the next phase was to turn my gun into a pneumag. I figured this would be the cheapest way to increase my firepower.

As I spent more time on AO and going to the local AO socal games I became friends with a few of the biggest gun whores around. Lasrsktr and Loguzzzzzz my wallet will never forgive you.

I realized not only are mags functional but damn sexy also. But how could I get my pneumag to look good with out forking out the big $$$ for ule bodies/ dw bodies. Then viola. Powder coat that beast. I also modified the feed from a power feed to a direct feed.

Well sadly the addiction didn't end there. I have sold off the pneumag lowers to purchase other items. Today all that exists of my Mag is the valve, the original trigger frame, and the body.

I will be using the valve and trigger frame for a pump mag project. That should be its final transformation. I hope to add that pic sooner then later.

well i had an old standard feed classic that transformed

went from standard feed classic
then changed 1 part at a time into a RT
then pneu
now ep

lack of funds drove the transformation....if I had enough money back when i first bought my mag I would have got a classic rt(rt pros were not around then)

dont have any pics from be4 ep though.
