Ive gone through and gotten rid of most of my mags ( except for a select few ) of course.
Cleaning out my tool box a while ago I found this classic valve.
I have tried about 30 different reg/back pieces on this valve and none of them will line up.
In fact when the reg is screwed on they are upside down with the z pin to the top.
It is an older valve in the CF02000 number range, but the printing is super faint on the valve and can barely see the 68automag printing.
Here's a pic from the top...

and a pic from the top with a reg on the valve....
Anyone have a clue why i cant get a reg to fit this valve ? ..( figured if anyone could help it would be you guys on AO ) :)

Maybe it's so old, it's from before they started indexing the valves. Before they did that, maybe they milled the valves assembled to determine alignment. If this is the case, I'm afraid you'll have to find the original valve back.

Or do something cool with it, such as make an adapter and run an inline reg. Someone's done it before, the result is pretty cool.

You could keep looking for old AIR regs (not classics) in hopes of finding something close, or you could polish the whole assembly. Depending on what you plan to do with it, you may or may not want to put a hole in the reg to match the valve body.

Since it doesn't match anyway, I would pick up an old modded reg with the eight holes, or slots, but it sounds like you have a bunch of regs already. :)
