Hey, Sean from smart parts is quoted saying the Luxe shoots farther than other paintball guns! Is this true?! Can you please test this?! I'll give you 5 free Internets to own him again.

There's no need to test that. Common sense can disprove it, and it has even been tested. The results will not change due to a different paintball gun. And I think that quote must be a rumor, Sean has admitted that CP's test proved him wrong.

I'm broke, but I'll donate $1. That should cover ~40 paintballs. . . :tard:

So what are you planning on testing next? You mentioned barrel breaks. Are you going to continue seeking the best paint:bore match? I would love to see if a brass barrel resulted in less breaks with the same paint:bore match.

Also, this might be difficult, but I would like to see the effect of porting. In the "Tom's Tech Tips" section here on AO, Tom gives his "effective barrel length" theory where an 8" barrel is the same as a 12" barrel with 4" of porting. I don't think it's so simple. Like the backspin bolt thing, it might make only an irrelevant difference, but I have alway wondered exactly what porting does, and to what degree. Just an idea.

How do you expect people to donate money to you when you're unable to remain professional while, essentially, begging? If I'm to donate money for something, I would want to see some degree of professionalism. How do I know you kids aren't going to blow my money on Hustler and comic books? I was seriously waiting for you two to embrace each other and start making out, you both looked like you wanted to.

Why don't you fund your own research? Is paint really that expensive?

A little constructive criticism in order to come off more professional.

* Don't scratch yourself on camera.
* Don't talk with your hands.
* Don't move around so much when you are doing close up shots.
* Steady cam shots should be a must.
* Camera lighting should be a must, much of your videos are way too dark.
* You should have a rough draft of the intended messages you want to address, the ad-libbing is long winded.
* If you don't want to script your thoughts, don't say "umm" so much, it just looks like your completely unprepared. Ad-libbing takes practice, it's a fine line between rambling and expressing your thoughts.
* You need to number your videos in chronological order for your viewers.
* Zooming in and out too fast and swinging the camera around in and out of focus is a no-no.

I'm "probably" interested in a lot of what you have to say in regard to your tests, but I can not get past the lack professionalism in camera shots and the delivery of your data. I get the idea that you guys are "for real" in your testing and opinions of what are happening in the industry, but if you really want to be taken seriously you really need to take a serious look your act. If you clean it up it will gain more attention.

Hmmm... I remember my days before entering manhood; spent very much the same way, although I was sure of my sexuality.

I love that look on the low-rent Carrot Top's face, how existential. Blue chunk looks like he's in the middle of laying down some serious Shakespearean prose.

I agree with this. You guys have paintball at heart, and that's what really counts. Your range video, though it proved plenty, was long and well, boring. You guys need an overall concept and theme if you really want to sell what you're doing.
Remember still, everyone's budget is tight these days, so you probably won't get much support, but that doesn't mean nobody is interested.
Keep up the fight!

What does that have to do with anything? Are you trying to say I'm not entitled to an opinion because I'm not shooting video myself? If so, that ridicules.

Yes, it was "thought out" because it was not meant to hurt anyone's feelings or disrespect what they are trying to build in their endeavors, it was intended to help them. It was not intended to be your typical Internet bashing, if you can't see that, well, what ever.

Easy there Luke! I tried to say it wouldn't matter what videos you had made.

Your comments sound like you have thought the presentation through to the point of explaining it. That being the case, it makes me suspect you had made some videos that I haven't seen or had been planning some. There's typical internet bashing already in the thread for comparison, so yes, I would take your comments as very useful regardless of your video catalog.

I see at least three errors in this post.

How do you expect people to donate money to you when you're unable to remain professional while, essentially, begging? If I'm to donate money for something, I would want to see some degree of professionalism.

For starters, you're treating this like some sort of strictly defined transaction. It's not. It's a donation, and an obviously somewhat informal one at that. You're not buying anything. You're not putting X amount of money for the guaranteed return of Y amount of products or services. You might be tempted to infer such a thing, but in the end, that's not what it is. You're basically asking for "professionalism" as some sign of "proof" that you will receive your "goods" further down the line, and I'll deal with that later.

You're not the boss, there isn't exactly any contract, they're not submitting their work for your approval, and they will probably continue doing what they're doing regardless of the fact that you don't want to support them.

If you don't understand the concept of a "donation", then you're better off not donating and not getting involved in any of this.

How do I know you kids aren't going to blow my money on Hustler and comic books? I was seriously waiting for you two to embrace each other and start making out, you both looked like you wanted to.

Second error. How do you *know* if ANYBODY is going to come through on any business transaction? How do you *know* BradAGD won't just and take your markers and money and disappear? How do you *know* G-Force isn't just taking your money and doing nothing with it? How do you *know* Tuna has your marker or money and is diligently working on your order?

You don't *ever* *know*.

What you have are risks and repercussions/recourse. In the risk department, don't risk something you're not willing to lose. In the repercussions department, since this is a donation, then your options for recourse are obviously strongly limited.

Why don't you fund your own research? Is paint really that expensive?

Third error has two parts. 1. Yes, paint is really that expensive, and 2. Paint isn't the only expense. You certainly are liberal with other people's money.

If your basic complaint is that you don't like the way that they are delivering their message (which is the short of all this babbling about "professionalism"), and you are trying to offer honest, constructive criticism, then I suggest you take your own medicine and adjust the way you deliver YOUR message.

I'll deal with some of the other posts later.

Sorry for getting defensive, I thought you miss understood what I was saying, which is generally the case here. (and the main reason I rarely post anymore). ;)

No, I've never made videos before, but I've tried to watch his and they are very difficult to get through because of the reasons I listed. Instead of just ignoring him I thought I would him a tip that may help him in the future. My opinion is strictly based from a viewers stand point. :)

NP. I was hoping for some machining videos. :D

I should just say 'ditto' to Maghog's post and if you want some extra PBN coverage, throw in some technoviking or hot babes during the breaks. Lots of good research sits on the shelves because no one can bear to get through it, and even if you could the writing sucks the creativity right out of you.

Get your own Audrey with a 'talking' marker. There's a lot of material there to hide some real information.

A long, drawn out discourse.

I was tempted just to quote you and post clever but entirely unrelated rap lyrics for no real reason other than to satisfy my own desire to stay on a different plane, but since you did take the time to actually organize your (timid) thoughts and present them in a manner that would warrant a response, here goes:

This one's for North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
Take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo head
Spin it like a helicopter
North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
This one's for you, uh-huh, this one's for who?
Us, us, us; yes sir!

Who am I? Petey Pab [ma' trucker]!
First to put it down for North Carolina
But guess what (what?), it's been worth it
I'ma superstar, bought me a big ol' car
Four-point-six, seen it 'cause
Black with the bars on the front and back
and got a button in the middle, make the trunk go eh-eh
But it ain't 'bout that
It's about gettin whatchu gettin and drivin all back here
Big fellas (six fellas)
Half of me and Carolina [gentlemen], I'm tired of y'all
Polk, Bladen, Marshall, Hoke, Greene County, Timbaland, damn
Transfer, Sandy Ridge, Browns over here (greens over here)
Pasqoutank, down on the, Odom East (lemme think)
Johnson County, Franklin, Burgaw, Newport, Warren, Shelby, Kenansville
(Man Catawba) Tarboro, Triangle, Goldsboro, Halifax, Statesville
And all my [gentlemen] doin life behind the wall
This right here, right here, right here's for...

I will say this though, if you're trying to appeal to people for money you should do so in a manner that is well, hang on... it's coming to me... wait for it.... wait for it... professional.

Holy Jesus on toast, Batman! Did he? Yes he did!

Bottom line: To me paintball is a sport and markers and other gear are merely tools to aid me in my conquest of rec ballers and little kids as I slide from bunker to bunker lighting rentals up. Afterwards I talk a lot of trash while high-fiving my buddies, but only after I collect the dozen or so empty pods I left in my wake. My wake of destruction.

I often spend hours in front of my bathroom mirror examining the one bruise I usually get after an entire weekend up playing because, well, I'm so awesome that I rarely ever get hit and if I do, I wipe. I've often thought about pursuing a career in nursing, since I have wiping down to an art form but life isn't like porno and I would probably not get to hook up with any hot female nurses.

I'm not concerned at all with the science of paintball, to me the people who spend time theorizing about how things are typically can't play worth a damn thus they spend their time wondering what makes what do what instead of just doing it. Science won't help you become a better player. I am an athelete, paintball is my sport.

On the subject of money, if I wanted to see money go out the window I'd just visit 8th street. I am in Miami afterall and I'm sure I could find some company there who'd be more than willing to organize an exchange. Like I said, an exxxchange as in I'd actually get something out of it; even if it is just the clap.

Feel free to dissect this post and examine it word by well thought out word then cry to yourself when you realize that I am indeed correct and you can't step to me. Identify "errors" all you like but be sure to look back over the shear lack of logic and understanding of what I've said in your post.

I'm going to go a step further and guess that you donate to the Christian Children's Fund. Yeah, you can adopt little Hakeem for only $0.40 a day and put him through school but you're probably just lining the pockets of some guy who's probably living in Monaco laughing as he backs his Veyron into his thirty car garage on his way to meet up with his former supermodel girlfriend and squeeze her modifications that you paid for with your donation. All this while Hakeem eats little Mowgli because he's starving.

Why don't you fund your own research? Is paint really that expensive?

a barrel breaks test is going to require probably 8 to 10 cases of the best high quality paint made.

do you think i have oh, 400 bucks to drop on paint alone?

i want to test to find out the barrel and paint interaction forces, and a pressure tranducer setup is going to set me back ... eh, 5 grand.

do you think i have the money for that?

as for professional, i dont care.

if you want to know the science behind paintball you should help out. its as simple as that. i have a job, as an engineer, where i have to be professional, but guess what, this isn't my job.

if you care enough to understand the physics, you want to cut though the marketing bull**** in paintball, then contribute.

if you want to keep paintball retarded, if you want to keep up the useless and stupid flame fests over guns and crap, if thats what you want, then keep talking.

cockerpunk - Keep it up. I enjoy your videos.
I do agree with some posts that the quality of your camera work (zooming, especially lighting, the constant not-knowing of which side the information bar is on ;) ) could be better. But as far as the science, it's awesome.
